THE GRACE WAY

Grace Lutheran College is, by the grace of God, a Christian community. It aims to continue the preparation of young people for a life of faith and service so that God will be glorified in the world.

THE GRACE WAY…

The Grace Way is about the small gestures that mean big things to Grace families. When your child joins Grace so do you. We welcome your entire family into our community.

Many of our families share that they chose Grace because of how the College makes them feel - welcomed, valued, and supported. It is the warm actions, generous spirit, and genuine care that leave a lasting impression.

Parents entrust their children to us with confidence, knowing that Grace provides a respectful, safe and nurturing environment where every student is encouraged to thrive.

When children are born their world is full of possibility. As a parent, you want to give them every opportunity to achieve their dreams. At Grace, we know that not everyone is a scholar, not everyone is good with their hands, not everyone is good on the sports field or dance floor, but everyone is good at something. Our role is to help students discover it.

Every child will experience Grit at Grace.

Every child will Grow at Grace.

Every child will find Grace at Grace.

Your aspirations are ours – we work in partnership with our parents to encourage your child to uncover who they are and explore what they love doing. As their confidence grows so does their capacity to strive towards their ambitions.

This is the Grace Way.

We know that successful adults combine excellence in their chosen field with character. A key component of character is grit, a mix of passion, perseverance and patience.

GRIT. A PASSION TO STRIVE FOR.

GRIT

At Grace, we believe that true success is built not only on academic achievement but on the strength of character. We know that the most fulfilled and impactful adults are those who combine excellence in their chosen field with resilience, integrity, and purpose. One of the key character traits we nurture in our students is grit, a powerful blend of passion, perseverance, and patience.

Students with grit are not afraid of hard work. They approach challenges with determination, push through setbacks, and stay committed even when the journey is long and demanding. Grit

empowers them to see failure not as a defeat, but as an opportunity to learn, grow, and ultimately thrive. It’s about showing up every day and giving your best, even when the results aren’t immediate.

We also believe that strong character is built on respect, for others and, most importantly, for oneself. At Grace, we create a culture where respect is expected, modelled, and upheld by all. Our students learn that character means doing what is right, not just when it’s easy or when someone is watching, but especially when it’s hard and no one else is around.

We guide students to take responsibility for their behaviour and actions. Through a clear and compassionate approach to student management and conflict resolution, we teach them to repair harm, rebuild trust, and reflect on the choices they make. This helps create a school community that is safe, supportive, and centred on personal growth.

In all of this, we walk with our students as they grow in both capability and character. At Grace, we are preparing young people not only for exams, but for life and for lives that make a difference.

OUR CULTURE HOUSE TEAMS

ANTARES ORION PEGASUS PHOENIX

At Grace Lutheran College, our House system is at the heart of student life, fostering belonging, spirit, and connection across year levels. The four House teams: Antares, Orion, Pegasus, and Phoenix draw inspiration from the stars, with symbols chosen from their zodiacal roots, reflecting strength, aspiration, and transformation. Whether through spirited competition, leadership opportunities, or shared celebrations, our House culture unites students in purpose and pride, helping them grow in confidence, character, and community.

WELLBEING

WELLBEING, THE GRACE WAY.

At Grace Lutheran College, student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We believe students flourish when they are known, supported, and encouraged to grow in confidence and character.

Our bespoke mentoring program, GEL – Grow. Empower. Learn., is a key part of this care.

More than just a pastoral program, GEL integrates mentoring, learning opportunities, and meaningful activities that help students GROW in character and faith, become empowered to make positive choices, and maximise their holistic learning. This personalised approach supports students at every stage of their journey.

We understand the vital connection between wellbeing of learning and

wellbeing for learning. When students feel safe, valued, and supported, they are more engaged, motivated, and ready to learn. At Grace, we intentionally foster this interrelationship, knowing that a student’s wellbeing directly influences their learning success—and that meaningful learning experiences can, in turn, strengthen a student’s sense of purpose and self-worth.

A key feature of GEL is mentoring, where students from different year levels connect and support one another. These relationships build a strong sense of belonging and help continue the Grace legacy of care, connection, and community.

Our commitment to holistic care also extends to the College Health

Centre, a welcoming and well-equipped space staffed by registered nurses, first aid officers, and counsellors. The Health Centre provides professional support for students’ physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing.

At Grace, wellbeing is more than a program –it is a daily, embedded experience that empowers students to thrive in all aspects of their lives. experience where students are both grounded and empowered: grounded in rigorous academic standards and empowered through forward-thinking, valuesdriven, and individualised learning opportunities.

TEACHING AND LEARNING

LEARNING, THE GRACE WAY.

At Grace Lutheran College, we are proud to offer a balanced approach to Education, one that honours the proven strengths of traditional teaching while embracing the opportunities of contemporary learning. Our approach is intentionally designed to nurture both academic excellence and future-ready capabilities.

Grounded in a strong foundation of academic rigour, our education framework ensures that students are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full academic potential. Core literacy, numeracy, and specialist subject knowledge are delivered through evidenceinformed, structured teaching practices that build deep understanding and critical thinking.

Alongside these traditional strengths, we embrace contemporary educational methods that empower students as creative, collaborative, and independent learners. Through problem-based learning, interdisciplinary connections, and realworld applications, students are actively engaged in developing the key competencies of critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, empathy, and resilience - essential skills for both academic success and lifelong learning. These attributes are intentionally cultivated through rich learning experiences that challenge students to reflect, problem-solve, and engage meaningfully with others and the world around them.

Central to our pedagogical philosophy is a bespoke design thinking framework known as INSPIRE, developed specifically to support our vision of a balanced education. This unique model fosters inquiry, innovation, and reflection, guiding students to identify

problems, generate thoughtful solutions, and take responsible action.

Grace proudly offers an extensive breadth of subject choices, enabling students to explore their interests, discover passions, and pursue areas of strength. From core academic disciplines to specialist electives students are supported to develop a personalised learning pathway that reflects their goals, gifts, and future aspirations.

By intentionally integrating tradition and innovation, Grace Lutheran College offers an educational experience where students are both grounded and empowered: grounded in rigorous academic standards and empowered through forward-thinking, valuesdriven, and individualised learning opportunities.

GROWTH

Young people with a growth mindset are confident, successful, purposeful, engaged, creative and co-operative.
GROWTH. A PERSON TO BECOME.

At Grace, we foster a culture of excellence and active engagement because simply showing up isn’t enough. We encourage our students to grow by challenging themselves and striving for their personal best each day. We want every child to feel proud of their progress, knowing that success isn’t about being first, but about realising their own potential and measuring achievement against their own goals and growth Young people with a growth mindset are empowered to be confident, resilient, purposeful, creative, and collaborative. At Grace, we believe in our students and strive to inspire that same belief within themselves. We help them recognise that they are capable of more than they realise, and we teach them that mistakes are

not setbacks, but valuable opportunities to learn, grow, and keep moving forward.

We believe that leadership is a vital part of a student’s role, and all students are able to serve as leaders in a range of roles such as Ambassadors, Captains or mentoring opportunities to have a positive influence on others in our community.

Your child creates clear goals and we track individual students’ progress. Timely feedback to students and parents is provided to encourage academic growth and discernment, ensuring the personalised pathway is apt for your child.

School can be a serious business at times but we recognise that young people need to enjoy learning and know that, particularly in secondary

school, they also need variety and challenge.

At Grace, our teachers have high expectations balancing academic rigor while understanding the importance of professional relationships. Our teachers make learning both challenging and enjoyable - bringing energy, depth and joy to the learning journey.

From the first days of Year 7 to the final steps of Year 12, students at Grace are faced with a range of important decisions about their learning, future careers, and relationships. We support them in understanding the impact of their choices and provide guidance every step of the way. By standing alongside our students as they navigate these moments, we help them grow into thoughtful, responsible, and confident young adults.

...an educational experience for your child that is not just good, not just better, but the best it can possibly be for them and your family.

SERVICE LEARNING

FAITH IN ACTION...

At Grace Lutheran College, service learning is where faith comes to life, connecting the classroom with the world beyond. Informed by the Lutheran understanding of vocation and shaped by our Christian values, students are encouraged to look outward and respond with compassion, courage, and action to the needs of others.

Service learning at Grace is both intentional and practical. Through a variety of experiences across year levels, students are exposed to local, national, and global opportunities to serve. This may be through volunteering, community partnerships, environmental initiatives, or fundraising for causes aligned with the College’s values. These activities are integrated to provide meaningful

ways for students to engage with real-world issues.

Our approach to service learning is shaped by the concept of head, heart, and hands:

• Head – developing awareness, understanding, and critical thinking about the needs in the world.

• Heart – cultivating empathy, compassion, and a sense of purpose grounded in faith.

• Hands – taking practical action that makes a positive difference in the lives of others.

As Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

In this spirit, students are encouraged to serve not for recognition, but to be a light in the lives of others and to grow as disciples of Christ.

Grace graduates will have experienced a wide range of service learning opportunities that shape not only what they know, but who they are and how they choose to live.
