In Our Community: Corbin Mayor Signs Proclamation
CORBIN MAYOR SIGNS PROCLAMATION CELEBRATING NATIONAL HEALTH CENTER WEEK
Grace Health joined health centers across every U.S. state, territory, and District of Columbia from August 4 to 10 to celebrate National Health Center Week (NHCW)
The federal government funded the first neighborhood health centers in the 1960s. Since then, the Health Center Program has become a key part of the nation’s health care system. Health centers like Grace Health combine medical, dental, mental health, substance use, and other services to meet the needs of each patient regardless of their ability to pay
In 2023, more than 31 million people relied on HRSA-funded health centers for care, with about 90% of these patients having incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. Even though health centers treat sicker people with lower incomes, those patients have better outcomes at a lower cost.
Health centers are also on the front lines of the opioid crisis, are answering the call for increased access to mental health services nationwide, and are part of the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative.
Recognizing the tremendous impact that health centers like Grace Health have in their communities, Corbin Mayor Suzie Razmus joined us to proclaim August 4-10 National Health Center Week in Corbin.
We are immensely grateful for leaders like Mayor Razmus, who work with us to help build stronger, healthier communities. We look forward to continued collaboration with service area leaders and beyond to meet the needs of southeastern Kentucky people.
