GPIS Student Feature GPIS is in the process of updating the page listing our current students. As one of our students, we would like your help. Please respond to the requests below by e-mail to Margo Stambleck mstamble@odu.edu<mailto:mstamble@odu.edu>. 1. If you would like to have a small (e.g. passport-sized) photograph of you appear on the page, please send us an image file of your photo. The file name should include your name (e.g. joesmithphoto.jpg). 2. If you have a professional website you would like to have linked to from the students page, please send us the URL (e.g. http://odu.academia.edu/MaurizioGeri). If you don’t have such a website, we strongly encourage you to create one as a way to showcase your accomplishments. 3. If you would like us to post a link to your CV on the GPIS page, please send us a copy of your CV in pdf format. As with the photo, pick a name for the file that includes your name (e.g. joesmithCV.pdf ). 4. The student listing will include a slightly disguised ODU e-mail (e.g. mstable at odu.edu<http://odu. edu> instead of mstamble@odu.edu<mailto:mstamble@odu.edu>). If you would like to opt out of having your e-mail listed, please let us know. Please see our webpage for examples of those who have already submitted their information: http://www.odu.edu/gpis/students

Thank you in advance for your help! Jesse Richman Acting Director Graduate Program in International Studies Old Dominion University

Fellowship Opportunities AMERICAN COUNCIL OF LEARNED SOCIETIES Comparative Perspectives on Chinese Culture and Society ACLS invites proposals in the humanities and related social sciences that adopt an explicitly cross-cultural or comparative perspective. Projects may, for example, compare aspects of Chinese history and culture with those of other nations and civilizations, explore the interaction of these nations and civilizations, or engage in cross-cultural research on the relations among the diverse and shifting populations of China. Proposals are expected to be empirically grounded, theoretically informed, and methodologically explicit. Deadline: 11/4/15 For more information visit http://www.acls.org/programs/chinese-culture/ AMERICAN COUNCIL OF LEARNED SOCIETIES Henry Luce Foundation/ACLS Program in China Studies The Henry Luce Foundation/ACLS Program in China Studies seeks to maintain the vitality of China Studies in North America through fellowships and grants designed primarily for scholars early in their careers. Studies on and in China have developed over the last 30 years in the United States and Canada into a robust field, but current conditions pose daunting problems, especially for scholars just before and just after the dissertation. · Postdoctoral Fellowships For scholars who are preparing or augmenting their PhD dissertation research for publication, or who are embarking on new research projects. Postdoctoral fellowships support work based on the applicant’s research in China that aims to produce a scholarly text in English. A working knowledge of Chinese is required. · Collaborative Reading-Workshop Grants For scholars of different disciplines to investigate texts that constitute essential points of entry to Chinese periods, traditions, communities, or events in contemporary or historical times. These grants provide support for collaborative reading of texts in a workshop format that is interdisciplinary and crosses scholarly generations. A wealth of often complex and challenging texts is a distinctive feature of the Chinese cultural record, making close reading by a group of scholars especially fruitful, because they can bring to bear diversity of research, experience, and expertise. Deadline: 11/4/15 For more information visit http://www.acls.org/programs/china-studies/ EUSA Haas Fund Fellowship Competition The 2015-2017 EUSA Executive Committee is pleased to announce the 2015 EUSA Haas Fund Fellowship Competition, an annual fellowship for graduate student EU-related dissertation research. Thanks to contributions to our Ernst Haas Memorial Fund for EU Studies, launched in June 2003 to honor the memory of the late scholar Ernst B. Haas (1924-2003), we will offer up to three unrestricted fellowships of up to $3,000 to support the dissertation research of any graduate student pursuing an EU-related dissertation topic in the academic year 2015-2016. Deadline: 11/30/15 For more information visit https://eustudies.org/assets/files/Haas%20announcement%202015.pdf
