PB Sports’ Jon Nelson says he’s ready to travel the state again as he prepares for GPB’s coverage of the upcoming high school football season through regular game of the week broadcasts during Football Fridays in
Georgia, the Football Fridays in Georgia podcast and additional programs including Countdown to Kickoff and Recruiting 2022. Describing last year’s “Southern Swing” and “Central Swing” through the state with fellow GPB Sports team member Wes Nichols, Nelson says the storytelling aspect of GPB’s high school football coverage through school visits and talking with the coaches is the one of the most fun parts of his job. “What we’re able to do at GPB is be well-rounded in our approach,” said Nelson. “It’s not just about the game or the high-profile athletes. It’s about everything that envelops the spirit of Friday night football.”
