Jan Byrkit

1537 State Road, Mosier, OR

Having done art all my life, I decided to apply it to clothing and thus I have developed a line of wearable art. You will see my processes at my studio — the sewing, dying, printing, and painting will be demonstrated during the Gorge Artists Open Studios tour weekend. The spirit of this beautiful place is exemplified in my designs, plus my studio has an epic Columbia River wildflower view!

Acrylic Painting

During the past five years of participating in the Tour, I have developed what I call my “stained glass” style. It is a process of breaking up my drawing into small cells which I then individually paint with several layers of paint. Come by my studio and I will explain more. I draw my inspiration from the ever-changing beauty of the Gorge.

Peny Wallace

I enjoy working in: clay, life casting, and painting. Each gives a different interpretation to the visual image, to how I see life. Each offers a different set of aesthetic awarenesses that I want to bring to the viewer and to explore myself in the process of creating.

Daiva Bergman Harris

MoonMountain Highway

113 W Steuben, Bingen WA

My story begins with memories of childhood — going to work with my father, an upholsterer, surrounded by bolts of fabric, and passing time in my grandmother’s hardware store, poring through piles of wallpaper books and playing with colored paint chips. I see the world as a plethora of patterns, textures and colors. I have found my creative expression in textile design and fiber art.

Ted Olson

Olson brings impressions of the landscapes of the eastern Columbia River Gorge to life in oil paintings on panel. Striking presentations of luminous color, engaging texture, and subtle references to landforms create a rich exposition of landscape. Ted is a founding member of 301 Gallery in downtown Hood River at 301 Oak Street. His work can be seen there year-round.

I am a metalsmith and an enamelist. My passion is cloisonné enameling, bending fine silver wire to create pictures, then “painting” with fused ground glass to make exquisite images.

Stephanie Johnston

15 Osborne Road, White Salmon, WA

I started learning about glass by taking classes in stained glass in the late 1990s. I dropped it for quite some time until meeting another glass enthusiast about 10 or 12 years ago. She introduced me to fusing glass and I found my passion. Glass is magical and amazing. I love creating jewelry, home décor, and garden art.
