Disturbance of peace still remains a challenge, residents are urged to respect the right to peaceful living conditions of their neighbours. Residents are further requested to only park in designated areas within their schemes. Speeding continues to be a problem, especially once leaving the estate or once turning the corner away from security surveillance. This trend is being monitored and a few identified known offenders are being dealt with. Security appreciates the reports and evidence against these offenders. We emphasise the importance of the speed limits within the estate, please consider other residents, children and pets that also share the road.

CONSTRUCTION AND NEW NEIGHBOURS Be cautious when there is construction in process in your surrounds. Having construction workers on site within estates have historically resulted in elevated crime levels. Please report suspicious behaviour to our control room onsite. A growing trend in estates is for a crime syndicate to move into a home for a period. During this time, they monitor the behaviour of residents and initiate house break-ins in the estate before moving out. If you notice any suspicious behaviour – i.e., blinds or curtains permanently drawn – report it immediately to security. We will endeavour to keep our residents safe.

GARDENING IN WINTER With winter approaching and contrary to popular belief, there are many plants and vegetables that thrive at this time of the year. Winter offers a chance to take a long hard look at your garden to make changes that can improve the structure of your garden.

10

Gardening in Winter (CONT.)

There is no reason why you cannot add colour to your garden during winter, seedlings such as Iceland Poppies, violas, pansies, snapdragons and primulas are a few of the many plants that will bloom in winter. These can be planted in planter boxes, hanging baskets, garden beds etc. This is also a good time to apply fertilizer to your grass so that it remains green throughout the winter months. All garden shrubs that turn yellow can be pruned and in July/August, roses can be pruned in preparation for summer. Top dressing can be applied to your lawns in August/ September ready for the first spring rains.
