EDITOR’S NOTE Reflecting on the past year, it is clear that this holiday season is unlike any other, to cap off a year unlike any other. As we move into a new (and hopefully better) year, I wish you peace amid the difficulties, connections with family and friends even if they can’t be in person, and joy. A sincere word of appreciation to all our dedicated office-, security- and maintenance staff for their friendly and devoted contributions to the high quality of life we enjoy in Eldoglen. Please remember the voluntary donations for our security and maintenance personnel; let’s make this December extra special for them. May you be blessed to spend this Christmas and New Year with family, friends and loved ones. Happy 2021!

CLICKON VISITORS ACCESS CONTROL:

OFFICE

USE OF PRE-CLEARANCE CODES AND STAND NUMBERS method to be used to obtain pre-clearance codes. Note that there is a separate cell number for each of the three gates. A code obtained by texting the East Gate will not work at the Main or North Gate.

Since the relaxation of the Covid-19 Lockdown, the queue at the visitors’ entrance of the Main Gate, has grown longer and longer daily. One can look everywhere for explanations, but the simple truth is that more and more visitors, of all sorts, are visiting Eldoglen, expecting speedy service and quick access. During lockdown, people became more aware of the ease of online shopping. Delivery vehicles and couriers, mostly with multiple deliveries to make, fast food delivery motorbikes and tut-tuts delivering groceries to residents, became the mode of getting the things needed by residents. All of a sudden, the queue started growing.

The most problematic reason for the queue, however, is that many visitors, whether commercial or social, do not know who or where they are to go to. Wrong addresses on delivery documents, incorrect names and surnames, faulty addresses, no or long expired drivers’ licences (long before lockdown) and highly flammable anger levels, are the biggest culprits in the queue. The Board of Directors and Executive Staff are well aware of these problems. To solve them, new ClickOn equipment will be installed shortly to enable social visitors to use the North Gate to gain entry to their destinations.

As soon as the equipment is installed, the North Gate will be opened on a daily basis from 07:00 until 19:00. If residents make use of this facility, the queue will be shorter by the number of such pre-cleared visitors. Please note that no commercial vehicles will be allowed to make use of the North Gate, even though they may have pre-clearance codes. They will still have to go through the Main Gate.

Working from or staying at home during lockdown, made many home owners aware of maintenance work to be done to their houses and gardens. So, the builders, painters, handymen and other construction and maintenance workers, were called in, adding another category to the visitors’ queue.

They will, however, need pre-clearance codes, which only residents whose cell phone numbers are registered as call numbers for allowing visitors on the ClickOn system (three per household), may obtain and provide to visitors. Please see the information page also included in this Newsletter, explaining the

At the main gate, all visitors, be they casual or commercial, will need to have the stand number they will be visiting, to obtain access. No visitor with only an address or a surname, will be allowed access. They will be directed out of the queue to get the stand number without holding up visitors behind them and will need

to join the back of the queue, if any. This method is widely practised at most of the bigger estates, like Midstream, Centurion Golf Estate and many more. No exceptions will be made. This may seem harsh, but it will prevent that incorrect calls, based on incorrect information, is made to residents. It is in the best interests of all residents and visitors that these measures are strictly adhered to by residents and enforced by the Security Staff. The assistance of everyone is essential.

VOLUNTARY YEAR END DONATIONS FOR SECURITY AND MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL The year is nearing its end and almost everybody is in holiday spirit and, if the number of enquiries about the making of thank you donations to the security and maintenance personnel is an indication, also in the spirit of giving. Such a gesture will be truly appreciated, but any contribution is totally voluntarily and no resident should feel obliged to make a donation. Donors are however kindly requested not to give presents or money to any individual person, but rather to make a monetary donation in an envelope and to either put it in the red post box at the main exit gate or hand it in at the estate office (please don’t just leave it at the security office), from where it will be collected, counted and administered. Alternatively, donations can be deposited into the bank account of the Eldoglen HOA, marked clearly as a donation, from where it will be transferred to the donation fund.

Banking details are as follows: Absa Bank, Branch No 632005, Account No 404 794 3033, Reference: Donation.

11

Voluntary year end donations... (CONT.) Donors are assured that every donation is thoroughly noted, a receipt made out, even for anonymous donations and audited by the HOA Accountant. The donations are only for the security personnel and maintenance. The executive staff do not receive any of the funds donated. All donations will be equally distributed between all these employees who kept you safe and secure in an estate with well-kept gardens, entrances parks, pools and other amenities. This year was extremely difficult with the Covid-19 lockdown and the sword of infection hanging over everybody. Notwithstanding this very real threat to every one of them, the security personnel were at their posts every day and night, keeping all residents safe from intruders. Fortunately, due to their strict adherence to the regulations and the unwavering use of PPE’s, not one of the staff contracted the virus. Thank you for saying thank you with this gesture. It is really appreciated by the workers and goes a long way in making a special time even more special.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

JIMMIES

WISHING WELL

Unlike last year, when we experienced drought and extreme heat, my well is brimming with life giving water. It has rained very well during the month of November 2020 and if one takes note of weather predictions, the beautiful Spanish lady called La Nin Ěƒa, will bring us a lot more. I have so many wishes for this coming festive period and so many more for 2021. Most of them I shall wish in silence, but there are some that I wish out loud and for everyone in Eldoglen, in South Africa and in the world. I normally do not wish that anything should die, but this year I wish that the Covid-19 Virus will just die and vanish. We have had enough of him. I wish for peace, fellowship and outreach to others who are in such dire need of the things which most of us take for granted in this season of peace

15

Jimmies Wishing Well (CONT.) and fellowship. May we remember to give rather than to take. Thank you very much to everyone who makes a donation to the Guards and Gardeners of Eldoglen. The small amount which each of them receive, is a blessing and something they can take with them to their loved ones. Last year I made a wish, which I wish to repeat this year. I wish for a crime free and accident free holiday time. No one deserves to become the victim of crime or the irresponsible behavior of an inconsiderate criminal driver of any vehicle. Furthermore, my wish is that all of us will be the responsible driver and not the inconsiderate one. May all who travel come back to Eldoglen, unharmed by those who don’t care or don’t think. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2021. May the new year be Covid-19 free, may the local, South African and World economy take a turn for the better with

the turn of the year and may poverty, violence and crime take a downward turn for the betterment of all. Lastly, may all our Christian residents experience a very blessed Christmas festival. May all your prayers be answered and may you include in your prayers all those that are less fortunate than yourself.

BEST WISHES FROM THE ELDOGLEN BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND EVERY STAFF MEMBER.
