We are approaching the festive season, and in this strange year, we all have an opportunity to look back (to learn), to look around (to experience) and to look forward (to plan).

Covid-19 is still disrupting this year and the lives of all in the estate, some more than others. It is hoped that all will have an opportunity to spend time with loved ones, enjoy good health, friendship and to relax a bit.

Within our estate we are blessed with a lot more blessings than what so many people are having. Unfortunately, there are also people experiencing real hardship and our thoughts go out to them. Some angels are walking around inside our estate and they are doing sterling work!

Enjoy the times and keep safe, healthy and responsible!

Coronavirus Covid-19 Impact: Rule changes and additions The rules were changed in line with the lockdown regulations issued by government. These changes are temporary and will change as the levels and ministerial rules are changed. You will be kept informed at all times. In essence, the basic rules are: • Stay at home, • Only go out to purchase essential goods (food, medicine) or to go to hospital or a funeral or to fill up, • Wear a mask when going out, • Do keep the social distance of at least 1 meter. • Sanitise, very often.

13

Coronavirus Covid-19 Impact: Effects on the HOA The HOA still functions as before, with the only real difference being that very limited physical meetings are being held by the board or any of the committees. Most decisions required are made on a virtual platform. Depending on the length of restrictions, members will be informed of any changes to the AGM or any SGM if so required. The board members are all fully conversant with the developments relating to the lockdown and do take the required steps where necessary. Estate management are working mostly from office, but do operate

from home at times, where they are fully online and involved with all things happening inside (and outside) the estate. Their personal telephone numbers have been communicated to members. There will always be someone at the office during business hours.

Effects on BC`s The trustees of the body corporates are now allowed to meet but can also do their business on a virtual platform. Employees: What is the situation: All employees are now back in service. Our advice is still to go without home staff if at all possible, especially for the elderly

residents. From an economic perspective it is very important to pay your staff, where possible, as the most important thing to do to get the economy going again, is to spend money.

Help: Where to get and how to give. The festive season is also a very hard time for many people who are in a distressed situation. Keep those in mind and donate where you can. Only by giving will you receive. Sunette Greeff 082 801 7649 and Jason Oberholster 081 212 3220 are both residents who are serious about helping those in need. Help where you can. Please. 14

THE

NEWSDESK

Gardens Summer is here in all ferocity. That includes heatwaves, thunderstorms and long days. The gardening committee is busy with some very exciting plans to do a renewal and rejuvenation of our gardens. Any resident with ideas, extra plan(t)s or advice is invited to contact us.

Levels We are on level 1 now, which does result in most areas of commerce and travel being open for activity. It is expected that travel will be allowed over the festive season and that there will not be a reverse to a higher level. Please keep to the basic rules of Covid-19 protection, being regular washing of hands, sanitising, keeping social distance and staying at home where possible.

The Park in The Wilds Plans have been drawn up to cater for a Trimpark, pumptrack and a pond, all in a serene and natural environment. We are awaiting approval by Tshwane’s parks division.

Speeding Please keep to the speed limits. They are there to protect the residents and all other people in the Estate, with particular focus on the youth. The fact that there are fewer vehicles on the roads do not mean you can now drive as you like!

Market Day Herman Schuld and his team are back onsite, delivering wonderful foods, crafts and other interesting things you will have to come look at yourself. Every 2nd Friday is becoming a very relaxed home cooking experience, with food coming from the Market Day providers for many households.

Registered Service Providers The normal registered service providers are now allowed into the estate, but must adhere to the following rules: They must be permitted as a business to operate, being an approved provider of essential goods or services, and the driver must likewise be permitted to do the deliveries. With regards to residents doing business inside the estate, the situation is that we are well aware of the severe constriction of economic activity and do not wish to limit the activities of our members. There are, however, stringent regulations which has to be applied at all times. See page 12.

NEWS

Committees at Work News from the various committees are as follows:

Clubhouse: Chaired by Mr Gilbert Muller Due to the Covid-19 situation the committee has decided not to do a Christmas event this year. This decision has been based on the view that it would be best not to expose lots of children, parents and grandparents to this virus, until it has been eradicated. The committee are already working on some virtual activities for the young and young at heart early in the new year. Finances: Chaired by Mr Alex Philippou This important committee is currently in the unenviable process of looking at budgets, financial statements and all those very important matters. Security: Chaired by Genl (ret) Ben Groenewald The security committee is a very active committee, working very hard on ensuring optimal security. There are several changes and improvements currently underway, including the curtailing of access cards; the improvement of the voice-quality of calls made; lighting in the clubhouse area; lighting at the two “farm gates and at the waterpump building; synchro of the sirens; improved access for visitors, including the implementation of the no code - no access system for visitors.

The beauty of the estate, the “look and feel” as well as the conforming to the rules regarding aesthetic changes are all part of the responsibility of the committee. Every change of ownership involves this committee and there is a lot of, sometimes very intricate, work to be done on a weekly basis. Rules & Fines: Chaired by Mr Danie Schoeman Those members, tenants, visitors, contractors and others not giving heed to the rules of the estate, will have to deal with this committee. During the past month a large number of speeding offences were reported, as were cases of attempts to enter in an unauthorised manner; noise and nuisance as well as children misbehaving (mostly due to frustrations with the lockdown). Gardening: Chaired by Mr Rupert Oberholster This new committee is taking up the very comprehensive task of managing the gardens. In process currently is the plans for the park, mentioned above, the planting of new plants and trees, the upgrading of our circles (with the new lighting) and many other tasks. Some of the circles were allocated to keen gardeners residing in the estate, willing to contribute to a better estate. More hands are always welcome.
