It’s been a very busy year in the Computing Department. The girls have continued to develop skills in ICT, coding and Internet Safety throughout the year. Coding has been the focus since January and pupils in the Upper School have created animations, educational and interactive games using Scratch as well as coding in JavaScript, HTML and Python. We have also coded Beebots and BlueBots including age appropriate coding apps.

During remote learning, lessons were adapted to use online platforms such as Scratch Online, Atom Learning, Twinkl, Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Pupils and teachers used technology in innovative ways as teachers adapted their lessons and pupils developed confidence in uploading their work to SeeSaw. Year Six pupils took part in the Fiver Challenge and communicated with their groups remotely. They created a business plan, designed a logo, researched and designed their chosen product leading to a final presentation to their peers. In May, Karl Hopwood, created internet safety video presentations for pupils which were shared via Zoom during their computing and PSHE lessons; this sparked some interesting discussions. Staff and parent presentations were also shared, highlighting the dangers online and how to keep pupils safe in the use of technology.
