Drama Competition
On the Friday prior to half term, Glendower girls enjoyed watching the finals of our first ever HOUSE DRAMA COMPETITION!
Interested girls were asked to form groups and given an excerpt from a Roald Dahl play to perform. This competition was greeted with enthusiasm and we had several entries per house. This task required the girls to work independently of an adult, arranging their own rehearsal times and collaborating on how to stage their performance. The groups performed during their house meetings and votes were cast to select one performance to go through to the finals.
The performances were full of humour with some great characterisation and lovely theatrical ideas. Well done girls for your impressive efforts, your performances were a delight to watch! The finalists were:
Marlborough: The Twits by Olivia, Keira and Anya Wellington: Fantastic Mr Fox by Lilah, Beth and Arabella Gordon: James and the Giant Peach by Coco, Bethany, Ottie, Chiara and Shireen
Congratulations to Marlborough who were the winners! Our judges, Mrs Kingsmill Moore and Mrs Maher, thoroughly enjoyed the performances and found it difficult to choose a winner! Year Three and Four Interhouse Netball
On Thursday 12th March, Year Three and Four worked in their houses to compete against each other in the interhouse netball. We all worked hard and had so much fun! We had some amazing interceptions, great goals and fantastic overall playing. Everyone used what they had learnt in lessons and as well as showing some impressive sportsmanship. Thanks to our subs everyone felt supported and overjoyed. Year Three worked very well together for their first inter house netball. Gordon came first, Wellington came second, and Marlborough came third.

“I loved the interhouse netball competition so much. In netball were taught lots of skills, kindness, sportsmanship, and to have fun when taking part. All the teams were equally excellent and showed all the great skills they have been learning. Congratulations to Gordon who won the interhouse and Wellington and Marlborough for taking part. I loved playing WD the best!” -

Congratulations to the year 3 on your first interhouse netball, you all played brilliantly. In year 4, the passing was super quick and there were some fantastic goals scored. Year Five and Six Interhouse Netball
On Tuesday 10th March, Year Five and Six took part in the annual Inter-House Netball Competition. After we got off the bus everyone piled onto the court and were jumping up and down with excitement, fixing last-minute face paint up and getting their posters ready on the side of the two courts.
Gordon, Marlborough and Wellington lined up in their houses and Miss Humble explained the rules. The games started in a hurry, balls were passed, and goals were scored. Everyone was cheering everyone, no matter their year level or house. Great sportsmanship was shown throughout the games, and everyone played their hardest.
Then the IAPS team played against the teachers: everyone chose a team to support and was very excited to watch. We wanted to congratulate the teachers who had never played netball before, especially Miss Broughton as she scored the teacher’s first goal. Before we knew it, the match was over with the IAPS team successful in beating the teachers 2-1.
Then it was time for the results, and everyone sat down quickly and quietly buzzing with excitement. Miss Humble thanked everyone for taking part and the teachers for helping on the sidelines. Well done to Wellington for coming third, Marlborough came second, and Gordon won! The day ended with three cheers for each team and everyone got back on the bus in good spirits.
