Post 11+ Programme
Programme Post 11+
Over the Summer term, we embarked upon our Post 11+ programme with the Year Six students, which I’m sure they would agree was enriching and engaging, despite the unprecedented times!

Much of our programme ran in the form of Zoom conferences and the girls thoroughly enjoyed meeting fantastic speakers from a variety of impressive backgrounds and careers, including banking, advertising and hospitality. A key highlight was a ‘Careers Day’ by Year Six parent, John Sinik, who spoke to the girls about gender inequalities in the workplace and empowered them to be “whoever they want to be” in any job they desire. He really instilled in them that they can do anything if they put their mind to it.
Another key highlight for the girls was a presentation and ‘Q&A’ with another talented Glendower parent, Kate Slesinger, who is Publishing Director of Tatler and Vanity Fair. The girls were lucky enough to gain an insight into Kate’s glamorous yet challenging job and to ask her questions about her field of work. I believe she may have inspired many budding journalists after this session!
As part of lockdown, we decided to begin our own Time Capsule project which allowed us to explore how a variety of people across the globe have found the past few months. Within the project, girls wrote diary entries from the perspective of our NHS heroes and Captain Tom Moore, while others interviewed key workers and their family members, and some wrote poems from the perspective of our healing earth and the country’s teachers. We even received news reports filmed in Uruguay, America and India!
There was also the opportunity for the girls to talk to former Glendower girls about their experiences in secondary school, including: Jolnar Mussar at Latymer Upper, Victoria Jansen at Francis Holland School and both Maddie and Maya Stoll at St Paul’s. It was brilliant for the students to gain an insight into what is to come and to gain fantastic advice for beginning at a new school in September.
Finally, the girls were privileged enough to enjoy The Fiver Challenge competition, which saw them making an array of wonderful products such as bracelets, soaps and bags. They also enjoyed a ‘Build an App day’ and a day of coding. I would like to thank all the speakers for educating and inspiring the Year Six girls, you have provided the students with some fantastic tools that they can carry with them into the next chapter of their lives… and beyond!

Dear Diary For the first time in a long time, I can take a deep, clean break of air. It tastes sweeter than heaven; I don’t choke on the usual smokey toxins. When the sun rises there are no cars honking, just the sound of nature waking up - birds chiping, panthers padding, pandas chompings bamboo shoots and calfs lowing to their mothers. As I rub the sleep from my eyes, I see the almight Himalayas towering towards the bright blue sky, I see the clear canals of Venice swarming with clicking dolphins and undulating jellyfish and I see the need sharpe tip of the Empire State Building piercing the smogless sky....
