In class, Year Four studied the Caribbean and some girls were inspired to create Caribbean island models as a Takeaway Homework task. In their ‘World of Water’ topic, they explore how rivers and the coastline change and how people are affected by these changes. One of their tasks was to choose a river and do independent and in-class research on their chosen river. Their posters or digital booklets were very well designed and informative.
One of the topics the Year Fives studied was the climates of the world. They explored how climate affects the way people live in various parts of the world. They plotted the climate of the Mediteranean on a graph and found out how locals adapt to living in this particular climate. In the summer term, they focused on UK and Europe and enjoyed choosing a UK physical feature to promote as a tourist site. Some girls produced excellent video adverts to promote their tourist site using their IT and video editing skills. Some girls even managed to superimpose themselves in their promotional videos.

Year Six explored the current developmental issues facing our world in the 21st century. They debated, made decisions, worked as a group and presented, which are essential parts of the geography curriculum in Year Six. During Take One Picture week, the girls worked in pairs to find out about a region of Italy and designed a poster to advertise their chosen area using 1960s travel posters as a stimulus and source of inspiration. In the year, the girls also enjoyed exploring the African continent and artefacts from there. They appreciated the Environments topic, learning about an environment of interest to themselves, and exploring our wonderful world!
