Handwriting Competition
HandwritingCompetition
In the Autumn term we held our annual Glendower Handwriting Competition. Every pupil in the school takes part, and it is a great opportunity for the girls to demonstrate the progress they have made with their handwriting, whilst also using their creative skills.

We linked this year’s competition with National Poetry Day and the theme was ‘Truth’; the girls could write any piece they liked on the topic of the truth. Reception explored the reasons why it is so important to tell the truth, using a book called ‘Ruthie and the (Not So) Teeny Tiny Lie’ by Laura Rankin. Year 2 used fantastic wordplay and unusual vocabulary to write a poem revealing all of their favourite things. Year 5 wrote beautiful ‘Lost Word’ poems that brought words related to the natural world back to life on the page. The standard of work was incredibly high, and it was lovely to see the girls taking such pride in their handwriting and presentation.
