Whilst 2019-2020 was one of the most unique years Glendower has witnessed, it did not put a stop to the wonderful achievements, competitions and events that took place. Here are just a few highlights of the monumentous year that none of us will forget.

Ottie (Y4) had her drawing selected for the Kensington and Chelsea Road Safety Calendar. She was presented with a copy of the calendar by the mayor and the calendar was displayed in the Office for all to see.

Eva (Y5) published her very first book at the tender age of ten! ‘Lucy Greenlight and the Great Pacific Garbage Patch’ follows the story of Lucy, a young girl, fighting to save the planet’s oceans and wildlife before it is too late. Eva was lucky enough to attend a special award ceremony in Russia, honouring all the efforts of young people in raising awareness of climate change.

Anastasia (Y5) was selected as part of the 2020 GB

Gymnastics Team (Performance Pathway - Espoir Selection). Glendower have been excitedly watching Anastastia achieve great success in her rythmic gymnastic endeavours.

Emily (Y1) won third place in an exhibition held at the Africa Centre organised by the charity My Start, which supports a refugee camp in Kenya. Emily’s work on flags was part of the Primary School category based on expression through art, film, photography and creative writing.

In November, Olivia (Y5) swam with Brompton Swimming Club in eight events. Showing great determination and talent, she recorded seven club records and seven county times. She also beat a club record by ten seconds! This is a wonderful achievement and a great demonstration of the swimming prowess at Glendower.

Celestine (Y5) was offered a place at the National Children’s Orchestra (U10s) playing her violin. Celestine and her sister, Aurelia (Y2) both competed at the West London Pianoforte Festival, winning a handful of bronze and gold medals.

Shireen (Y4) officially became a citizen of the United Kingdom and gave a fantastic write-up of her experience at the ceremony she attended. Her oath ceremony took place at Kensington Town Hall and she was the only child present! The Superindentant Registrar held the ceremony along with many other councillors and Shireen has great memories of this special event.

Isha (Y6) addressed a crowd of over 200 peoople at the Festival of Wellbeing organised by the Resurgence Trust. Isha was contacted to be the inaugural speaker after the organisers heard of her ‘Kids Climate Food’ idea. Not only did Isha speak beautifully, she was very brave to take on such a challenge at such a young age.
