You Need to Know about CEIT Services

Student version Winter 2018

1. Student ID Card You’ll need your student ID card to pick up library materials and access our campuses outside regular hours. When taking transit, you must carry your student ID card with your U-Pass BC on Compass Card. If you don’t provide your student ID when asked, you might get a fine and your Compass Card could be confiscated. The link below tells you when and where to get your student ID. www.douglascollege.ca/studentidhours

2. Students Helping Students Except for summer, you’ll find a CEIT student assistant at each campus Monday–Friday. They can respond to requests for help with ID cards, logins, computer functionality, printing, wireless and connectivity. Our co-op students are constantly moving around, mainly in the libraries and labs. You’ll recognize them by their red vests. If you don’t see them, call or text 604 396 4475 (New West) or 604 306 4777 (Coquitlam). www.douglascollege.ca/shs

3. CEIT Service Counters They provide student ID cards, password/PIN resets, and assistance with login issues and Wi-Fi connectivity. www.douglascollege.ca/servicecounters

4. Office 365 As part of the College licensing agreement, Douglas provides all registered students with Office 365 software and services in the Canadian cloud. You have free access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and several other applications. Besides, you’re provided with 1 Terabyte of OneDrive storage space and a College email address (@student.douglascollege.ca). www.douglascollege.ca/office365

5. Printing You may print 300 pages free of charge per semester from any machine in the libraries, computer labs or the New West glassed-in area in the concourse. If you need to print beyond that, you’ll pay for extra copies. PayPrint stations are available at both campus libraries, room N6212 (New West) and room A2270 (Coquitlam). At the beginning of each semester, your quota is reset to 300 pages. www.douglascollege.ca/printing

6. CEIT Help Desk Our skilled staff is available to help you when you have difficulty with College-owned technology. You may want to contact our co-op students first. If they’re not able to help you, call 604 527 5330 or email helpdesk@douglascollege.ca www.douglascollege.ca/helpdesk

7. Logins Go to www.douglascollege.ca to log in to myAccount, Blackboard and Office 365 & Email. Hover over the Login drop-down menu at the top of the website, and choose your option. For Wi-Fi login, click Douglas College Internal among the available networks. If prompted to accept a security certificate, click Trust, Accept or Continue. What are my credentials? Please search for “Logins & Passwords” at www.douglascollege.ca to learn how to log in to the computers, myAccount, Blackboard and Office 365 & Email. What are the first steps to access IT services? 1. Change your default password to ensure only you know it. The network (College computers) and myAccount can have different passwords, but: • Computers require passwords with at least 15 characters (more secure). • Wi-Fi, Office 365 & Email and U-Pass BC on Compass Card require the same password used for computers. • Blackboard requires the same password used for myAccount. info on default passwords: search for “Logins & Passwords” at www.douglascollege.ca 2. Register a personal email address for computer password reset at https://sspr-reg.douglascollege.ca. If you forget your password, you’ll be able to reset it at https://sspr.douglascollege.ca. A security code will be sent to the registered email to verify your identity and allow you to create a new password. Do not use a Douglas email address (@student.douglascollege.ca).
