Nicht von schlechten Eltern Das Gebäude des Atlantis by Giardino ist ein Meisterstück der Architekten Annemarie und Hans Hubacher sowie Peter Issler – gebaut 1970 und teilweise unter Denkmalschutz.

Beeinflusst waren sie von den Designern Skandinaviens.

Vielleicht wohnten auch deswegen ABBA 1978 hier.

Freddie Mercury, Grace Jones, Elton John, Eric Clapton oder The Who waren ebenfalls zu Gast. Letztere feuerten nach ihrem Auftritt im Hallenstadion Zürich Teile des Inventars der Lobby in den Hotelpool. Auf den Bildern sieht aber beides noch so aus, wie es aussehen sollte.

Not too shabby – The Atlantis by Giardino building is a masterpiece by architects Annemarie and Hans Hubacher and Peter Issler – built in 1970 and now enjoying partly listed status. The architects drew inspiration from the Scandinavian designers. Perhaps that’s why ABBA decided to stay here in 1978. Freddie Mercury, Grace Jones, Elton John, Eric Clapton and The Who were also guests. The last on that list decided to throw the entire contents of the lobby into the hotel pool after their performance at the Zurich Hallenstadion indoor stadium.

Der Aussenpool Hier weht ein Hauch von Mittelmeer. Grosse Natursteine, die von einem edlen Holzdeck eingefasst werden, schmiegen sich an den Rand dieses türkisgrünen Schmuck­ stücks. Mit 25 Meter Länge erstreckt sich der Aussenpool des Atlantis by Giardino vor der hiesigen Waldkulisse wie ein Stück wahrgewordener Ferientraum. Der Üetliberg Quasi der hauseigene Nationalpark: der Üetliberg mit seinen knappen, aber stolzen 900 Metern über dem Meer und seiner dichten Bewaldung.
