The style expert
TINA SCHNEIDER Tina Schneider has been an interior design and travel journalist for over ten years. Until recently, she considered bedrooms the inner sanctum of a home. But during a conversation with THG boss Michel Gosse for GG (page 148), she realized that bathroom fittings reveal more about people than their choice of bed linen …
IVÁN MERELO Born in Valencia, Iván Merelo spent his teenage years in the French Pyrenees, and ended up in northern Germany five years ago. Most recently, the 34-year-old has been reinforcing GG’s design team. His hobbies mostly take place outdoors: photography, cycling, hiking and canoeing trips, as well as kite surfing. He often takes vacations in Corsica, but is planning a trip to New Zealand in 2015.
Architecture as art
TODD EBERLE No other photographer is as adept as Todd Eberle at turning modern architecture into art, with the aid of his cropped and abstract images. In this edition of GG, you can enjoy his photos of the famous Seagram Building on Park Avenue in New York (page 42.)
The wordsmith
GLENN O’BRIEN He wasn’t just there, he was part of it: in the 1970s, journalist Glenn O’Brien wrote for Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine, was friends with Basquiat, went out with Grace Jones and was a regular at the legendary Studio 54. You can find his story about Halston House in NYC starting on page 58.
TREVOR BODDY The Canadian journalist and critic writes for all the big international architecture magazines. For GG, he met with Phyllis Lambert, who commissioned Mies van der Rohe to design the Seagram Building in 1954 (p. 42).
The cruise expert FRANK SISTENICH For more than 15 years, Frank Sistenich has been reporting from aboard the world’s ships, and from its oceans. Recently, he published an illustrated book on expedition cruises. The motto of this Berlin resident is: “When you meet someone who has lost their smile, give them yours.”
PHILIPPE RUMMENS & FRÉDÉRIC VAN BLERK Philippe Rummens and Frédéric Van Blerk manage four Engel & Völkers shops in Antwerp and can look back on more than 20 years of experience in real estate marketing. At the moment, they have an extraordinary building on their books: a superbly preserved city palace, erected on Arthur Goemaerelei street in 1905.
High-end NYC
LESLIE HIRSCH & HOWARD MORREL The two brokers are focused on the Manhattan real estate market and have been managing the E&V office on Park Avenue since 2014. They have an iconic building on offer, featured in the “For Sale” section (starting on page 58): Halston House saw fashion designer Halston party there with his Studio 54 pals. More recently, it was one of Gunter Sachs’s homes.
