In its Vision 2029, GMC will be a nationally recognized leader providing a character-based higher education, improving students’ personal wellbeing, and giving hope for a brighter future.
Georgia Military College builds on our military heritage grounded in our core values of Duty, Honor, and love of Country to provide hope and opportunity through individual growth and education of our students to develop their intellect and character as authentic servant leaders in an environment focused on elevating civility and respect for others.
As I reflect on this past year—my final year as President of Georgia Military College—I am overwhelmed with gratitude and a deepened appreciation for the spirit that makes GMC so special. This institution is built on an unwavering commitment to student success, and it is only through the collective dedication of our faculty, staff, students, and community that we continue to change lives and shape futures. At GMC, we don’t just talk about excellence—we live it every single day.
The 2023-2024 fiscal year has been a testament to what we can only describe as the “All In” spirit of Georgia Military College. From our educators who go beyond the call of duty to inspire and mentor, to our staff who work tirelessly to create an environment where students can thrive, to our students who rise to every challenge with determination and grit—each person in our GMC Family plays an essential role in our shared success. This year, we have expanded our reach, strengthened our programs, and continued to build upon our legacy of leadership by developing principled leaders who are prepared to serve and succeed in their communities and beyond.
A critical part of this success has been the unwavering support of our GMC Foundation. Thanks to the generosity of our incredible GMC Family, the Foundation is in a strong financial position, ensuring that we can continue to grow and provide the resources and opportunities to accomplish our Mission. But sustaining this momentum requires the continued commitment from all of us. We need your assistance to preserve what we have built together so that Georgia Military College can continue to provide hope and opportunity for another 145 years.
As I prepare to pass the torch, I do so with immense pride in what we have accomplished together. The work we do at GMC goes beyond just an academic education; it is about transformation. It is about opening doors of opportunity, instilling values that endure a lifetime, and empowering students to reach new heights. Our Mission is greater than any one individual, and it is through the collective effort of this incredible Team that GMC will continue to flourish for generations to come.
Thank you for your dedication, passion, and commitment to our students and our shared vision. It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve alongside each of you.
With my deepest appreciation,
Gifts may be unrestricted in use, or you may designate your gift to a particular program or purpose. However you choose to support GMC, you will be embarking on a partnership with an institution that, through development of both the intellect and the character of its students, impacts lives in positive and lasting ways. There are almost as many ways of giving as there are programs, projects, and priorities of the institution that need your support.
A gift for endowment demonstrates a farsighted commitment to Georgia Military College. Endowments are permanent funds, maintained in perpetuity by the GMC Foundation, from which only a portion of the annual investment return is used for the purpose intended by the donor. The rest of the investment yield is returned to the principal. Thus, over the years, the fund can grow with the goal of keeping pace with inflation. Such endowments, which typically bear the name of the donor or donors, reflect your interests and serve as an enduring testament to your generosity.
Additional gifts may be made to the fund to increase the principal and thereby increase the annual investment income. Endowments represent rewarding gift opportunities because they offer the donor the satisfaction of knowing that his or her gift will continue working for future generations.
• An endowed fund may be established with a contribution in the form of cash, appreciated securities, or other charitable gifts, such as a bequest.
When you do not restrict the use of your gift, you allow flexibility in meeting needs. These funds are managed prudently and applied where they will be most beneficial to meet a variety of current needs.
Gifts may be designated to any of the wide variety of programs and services offered by Georgia Military College. Perhaps there is a particular area, such as library enrichment, technology, athletics, or an academic department in which you have an interest. Such gifts will be applied in their entirety to the area of your designation.
If you choose to, you may designate your financial assistance to any of several initiatives undertaken by the Foundation through partnering with the school’s leadership to identify special priorities for giving.
• It may be established with either a single gift of $25,000 or a gift of at least $5,000 and a pledge of the remaining $20,000 over a period of up to five years.
• The fund is invested by the GMC Foundation, which serves as a steward of the endowed funds. The Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are taxdeductible as allowed by law.
• An endowed gift offers the opportunity for donors to have their names, or the name of a loved one, linked to an area in which they have a special interest, creating a legacy for years to come.
• A named endowment can provide an opportunity for an academic department or an athletic program to grow and excel.
• A named endowment can provide a scholarship to aid deserving students year after year.
As a donor who has established an endowment, you will receive an annual report from the GMC Foundation on the financial status of the fund, including earnings and distributions.
The Oak Leaf Society recognizes alumni and friends who have included the GMC Foundation in their estate plans. Their gifts for the College’s future are made through wills, trusts, and charitable gift annuities, or by naming the GMC Foundation as the beneficiary of life insurance policies, retirement fund accounts, or other financial instruments.
The generosity of these legacy donors ensures that the Mission of Georgia Military College will continue to be fulfilled for years to come.

For 145 years, Georgia Military College has been a pillar of education, leadership, and opportunity. To ensure that legacy continues for another 145 years and beyond, GMC has established three Legacy Endowments designed to sustain and enhance the institution’s impact. These funds are vital to preserving GMC’s historic foundation while propelling it into the future, ensuring that students continue to receive the hope and opportunity they deserve.
At Georgia Military College, providing hope and opportunity to all students is not just a mission but a promise. The GMC Legacy Endowments ensure that promise is upheld for generations to come. These funds will sustain the college’s infrastructure, support the Cadets who will lead our future, and elevate leadership education to new heights. Through these endowments, GMC remains steadfast in its dedication to student success, leadership excellence, and historic preservation, securing its place as a transformative force in education
This endowment directly supports our nation’s future leaders within GMC’s Corps of Cadets. It provides essential resources to enhance the Cadet experience, strengthening leadership training, academic excellence, and character development. By investing in this fund, GMC ensures that tomorrow’s leaders are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and discipline necessary to serve their communities and our nation.
Rooted in history, GMC’s Main Campus in Milledgeville is home to the Old Capitol Building, a landmark rich with tradition. This endowment ensures that GMC’s infrastructure remains stateof-the-art while preserving its historic charm. It will provide the means to maintain and enhance instructional spaces for the Preparatory School and Junior College, ensuring that students have access to top-tier educational facilities without compromising the historical significance of the campus and community.
Leadership development is at the core of GMC’s mission. This endowment strengthens GMC’s commitment to cultivating ethical, service-oriented leaders by expanding and advancing leadership training programs, developing students in fine arts, and creating entertainment opportunities for the community. Through this fund, GMC will continue to evolve its leadership and entertainment offerings, equipping students with the tools and experiences necessary to lead with integrity and purpose in an ever-changing world.
LTC Duane Clayton and the Junior College Corps of Cadets Legacy Endowment
Georgia Military College has long been a beacon of leadership, discipline, and academic excellence, shaping young men and women into outstanding citizens and leaders. At the heart of this mission lies the Junior College Corps of Cadets, a program that has fostered generations of students dedicated to service and excellence. Ensuring the longevity of this program is the Junior College Corps of Cadets Legacy Endowment, which provides sustaining financial support to Cadets for future generations. Someone who exemplifies the spirit of this initiative is Lieutenant Colonel Duane Clayton, USA (Ret)—a man whose commitment to the Corps did not end with his retirement from GMC, but rather, continued to flourish.
LTC Clayton’s journey with Georgia Military College began when he and his twin brother, Philip, attended a college fair in Savannah, Georgia. Encouraged by a GMC recruiter and their high school counselor, they made the pivotal decision to attend GMC as first-generation college students. Their father, recognizing the value of higher education, urged them to seize this opportunity—one that would shape Duane’s future in profound ways.
He went on to graduate from GMC and have a successful career in the Army, and then Clayton found his way back to his alma mater, seeking to make a difference in the lives of young Cadets. Initially hired as a TAC officer, he quickly rose to Deputy Commandant and eventually Operations Officer for the College Corps of Cadets. His decade-long tenure at GMC became the highlight of his career, as he passionately mentored Cadets, instilling in them the principles of authentic servant leadership.
For Clayton, leadership has always been about service. “Success comes when you realize and act accordingly that serving those you lead and teaching them the qualities to become successful will ultimately bring success to the leader,” he shares. When you tell LTC Clayton about a member of the Corps who has gone on to succeed in endeavors after GMC, he beams with pride. There is no one more involved with GMC’s Cadets than LTC Clayton. Whether through his mentorship, friendship, or constant support, he gives generously of one of life’s most precious gifts, his time. He is committed to giving to others - a true authentic servant leader.
He leads by example, showing Cadets the importance of giving his time, talents, and treasures to his community, such as his family church, Gideon’s International, Disaster Relief – Southern Baptist Convocation, and Missions.
Though officially retired, Duane and his wife, Karen, remain deeply engaged with both current and former Cadets. Their involvement is hands-on: They sponsor Cadets, provide them with off-campus experiences, and serve as mentors beyond the classroom. Their commitment extends far beyond Milledgeville, as they travel the country visiting former Cadets, attending service academy graduations, and ensuring that the bonds of the GMC Family remain strong.
“We want them to know that they can reach their goals if they simply work hard and never, never, give up,” Clayton emphasizes. His and Karen’s dedication serves as a living testament to the values of GMC—”Duty, Honor, and Love of Country.”
The Junior College Corps of Cadets Legacy Endowment is essential in ensuring that future generations of Cadets have access to the same lifechanging opportunities that Clayton and so many others experienced. He passionately calls upon alumni to contribute, emphasizing the power of collective giving. “If every alum donated just $5 per month, we could raise $1.2 million per year. Imagine the impact we could have at GMC,” he urges.
The spirit of GMC’s Corps of Cadets is alive and well, thanks to dedicated leaders like Duane Clayton. His story serves as an inspiration, reminding us that the true measure of success is not just personal achievement, but the impact one leaves on others. As the Junior College Corps of Cadets Legacy Endowment continues to grow, it ensures that the values and traditions of GMC will endure for future leaders.

BARB RION CHAIR
GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE
FOUNDATION
It is my great honor to serve as the Chair of the Georgia Military College Foundation, serving an institution that has been an integral part of my family’s life and a beacon of excellence for 145 years. As a long-time member of the GMC Foundation and the proud mother of two sons whose bright minds and outstanding character were molded at our Preparatory School, I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact this institution has in shaping tomorrow’s leaders.
GMC’s legacy of leadership has withstood the test of time, and I am incredibly proud that the Foundation plays a vital role in supporting the school’s Mission. Through the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our community, we provide scholarships and resources that provide hope and opportunity to students who may have otherwise faced financial barriers in attending GMC. Our commitment also extends to strengthening the foundation of GMC’s future by funding new facilities that inspire success, innovation, and growth.
To ensure Georgia Military College continues to thrive for future generations, we ask for your support in sustainment efforts. The Foundation has established three legacy endowments that will directly contribute to the long-term success of GMC and the students we serve: the Old Capitol Square Legacy Endowment, the Center of Leadership Legacy Endowment, and the Junior College Corps of Cadets Legacy Endowment. These funds will help preserve the traditions, values, and excellence that define GMC. With your help, our target is to raise these funds to $50 million each in order to create a generous distribution on an annual basis to help sustain our ability to provide unparalleled opportunities in our character-based education.
The work of the GMC Foundation directly benefits the students who walk these halls today and those who will follow in their footsteps. Together, we are building a future honoring the values and traditions that make GMC a truly special place.
It is a privilege to be a part of the GMC Family, and I look forward to continuing our work together in service to this incredible institution and its students. Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to the mission of Georgia Military College.
With gratitude and pride,
Chair, Georgia Military College Foundation
The Georgia Military College Foundation sincerely appreciates the generosity of donors who support the following funds, each of which is either building toward endowment or fully endowed. An endowed fund serves as a “perpetual gift,” with income generated from investments used to support its intended purpose. Any excess income beyond the designated award is reinvested to further grow the fund.
A minimum investment of $25,000 is required to establish an endowed fund, which may be completed over a five-year period. The list below captures all endowed scholarships and funds through Fiscal Year 2023-2024.

At the core of Georgia Military College’s Mission to develop character-driven leaders stands the NewDay USA Center of Leadership—a facility whose namesake was forged by the shared commitment to character-based education and the transformative power of leadership between GMC and NewDay USA. NewDay USA’s founder and CEO Rob Posner, who is a dedicated advocate for military education and mentorship, wanted to be a part of providing a space dedicated to shaping the next generation of principled, purpose-driven leaders. After years of planning and construction, The NewDay USA Center of Leadership has taken flight, becoming the premiere venue for world-class thought leaders to take to the stage—empowering students, the surrounding community, and across Georgia with unparalleled access to transformative ideas, mentorship, and leadership development. NewDay USA initially became involved with GMC through their support of scholarships for Preparatory School Gold Star families, demonstrating their commitment to fostering authentic servant leaders.
Their belief in the school’s Mission and their desire to partner in leadership education inspired NewDay USA to expand their scholarship offerings to supporting more military families, first responders, and those seeking hope and opportunity. Now NewDay USA has gone further to partner with the school, developing the program now known as the NewDay USA Leadership Speaker Series.
The NewDay USA Center of Leadership is a hub of collaboration, education, and inspiration, bringing together students, faculty, and distinguished speakers to engage in meaningful discussions about leadership, ethics, and service. The Center provides a dynamic space where cadets cultivate the skills, confidence, and character required to become tomorrow’s leaders.
Beyond its role in leadership development, the Center has the potential to greatly enhance our community with amazing programs. By hosting corporate leadership seminars, professional development workshops, off-Broadway productions, and community events, the facility serves as a valuable resource for organizations seeking top-tier leadership training and entertainment.
The Center’s state-of-theart amenities make it an attractive venue for conferences.
To support these initiatives and ensure the Center’s long-term success, GMC has established the Center of Leadership Legacy Endowment through the GMC Foundation.
Contributions to this fund will provide essential resources for maintaining and operating the facility, funding leadership programs, and securing the future of this vital center.
The Center of Leadership is more than just a facility—it is an investment in the future of leadership and a catalyst for growth at GMC. By contributing to the Center of Leadership Legacy Endowment, supporters become part of a lasting tradition—one that transforms lives, strengthens communities, and upholds the highest ideals of service and leadership.
Join us in sustaining this legacy and ensuring the continued success of the Center of Leadership. Your support will enable GMC to cultivate leaders, generate financial support, and provide unprecedented opportunities for education and development.

The individuals listed have generously contributed to the GMC Foundation in honor of or in memory of loved ones, with honorees and memorials listed in bold.
The historic Old Capitol Square has long been a symbol of education, leadership, and tradition at Georgia Military College, due largely in part to the dedication of donors like Win and Dot Sibley. This cherished space continues to thrive and serve generations of students day after day, year after year. A longtime supporter, Foundation member, and Honorary Alumna of GMC (Class of 1996), Dot Sibley and her family have played an instrumental role in preserving and restoring Old Capitol Square.
Although neither Dot nor her late husband, Win Sibley, attended GMC, their commitment to the institution is deeply personal. Dot felt it was important for her children to attend the school and it’s become a family affair. Her children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren have walked the halls of GMC, continuing a legacy of education and service. Dot’s daughter, Lynn Phillips (Prep 1972, JC 1973) and son Wes Garrard (Prep 1975) both attended GMC, as did her grandchildren Gracie Strickland (Prep 1995), Ashley Garrard (Prep 1997), and Tyler Garrard (Prep 2003). Today, Dot’s great grandson Gavin Gignilliat is a student at the Junior College Main Campus and plays on the Men’s Golf team. The tradition continues with his sister, Sawyer Strickland, a 7th-grade Prep School student.
Dot Sibley’s philanthropic contributions to GMC have been transformative. Through her generosity, she has greatly contributed to GMC’s efforts to return all facilities on Old Capitol Square back to instructional space, preserving history while enhancing the learning environment to best serve GMC’s students. Her investments in restoring and preserving this historic area reflect her deep appreciation for education and her desire to enhance the student experience far into the future.
Among her many contributions, Dot has provided significant support to the Sibley-Cone Library, including the dedicated Sibley-Cone Room, which serves as a vital academic resource for students. She has also contributed to various athletic and academic initiatives, including the Junior College Booster Club, Junior College Athletics, and the Junior College Men’s Golf team. Her dedication to the arts is evident in her support of the
Boylan Concert Series, the Steinway Piano, and the Performing Arts Concert Series, which enhance cultural experiences for the entire GMC and Middle Georgia communities. Dot says if her grandkids are involved in something at GMC, she’s supportive. She’s lived up to her word.
Beyond facility restoration and program support, Dot Sibley’s generosity extends to student scholarships, ensuring that future generations have access to a GMC education. The Winston H. and Dottie E. Sibley Scholarship has provided critical financial assistance to students, embodying the couple’s belief in the power of education. Additionally, Dot has contributed to the Class of 2030 Endowed Scholarship, a testament to her forward-thinking approach to supporting students for years to come. Her discretionary fund further allows GMC to allocate resources where needed most, reinforcing her belief in the decisions made by the institution to continue providing hope and opportunity for all.
Dot Sibley’s contributions to the Old Capitol Square Legacy Fund and Georgia Military College as a whole have left an indelible mark on the institution. Through her passion and generosity, she has helped shape GMC’s future while honoring its rich history. Her vision of restoring and preserving Old Capitol Square ensures it remains a beacon of learning and leadership far into the future.
As GMC continues to evolve, Win and Dot Sibley’s legacies will stand as a shining example of the power of philanthropy and dedication. Their unending support has not only revitalized historic spaces but has also enriched the lives of countless students, fostering a community rooted in education, leadership, and service. The Sibley family’s “fingerprints” are all over campus and GMC is forever grateful for their belief in GMC’s Mission. Dot is a true guardian of the institution’s past, present, and future.
