LtGen. Caldwell is a 1976 graduate of the United States Military Academy (USMA). With a distinguished 37-year military career, he commanded the 82nd Airborne Division, served as a White House Fellow for President George H.W. Bush, and played a key role in planning the 1989 invasion of Panama. His career includes multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and he attended an Academy Prep School before West Point.

GMC’s Corps of Cadets is central to the institution’s identity, emphasizing intellectual development, character-building, and leadership. The Corps offers various Cadet programs including:
State Service
Serve as a member of the Georgia National Guard or Georgia Air National Guard.
Service Academy Prep
Prepare for entry into USCGA, USMA, USNA, USAFA or USMMA.
ARMY ROTC eCP
Earn a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army National Guard or U.S. Army Reserves after completing two years at GMC.
Civic Leader
Develop critical organizational and leadership skills for public service and other vital roles in civilian society.
Life as a Cadet includes rigorous academic schedules, leadership training, and participation in patriotic ceremonies, community service projects, and athletics.
The Early Commissioning Program (ECP) is a program for qualified students to earn the Gold Bar of a U.S. Army Second Lieutenant after successfully completing the two years of the advanced ROTC program and an Associate’s Degree at Georgia Military College.
