Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself... Alma Pancir - Watercolors and Oil A scholarship to Fashion Institute of Technology allowed me to study fashion illustration and design. After spending two years designing children’s wear, my desire to paint again overshadowed the garment center’s call. I have taken workshops with Terry Madden, and Tom Lynch in watercolor, and studied oil painting with Evelyn Rysdyk at the Islip Town Art Gallery, Christian White at North Shore Gallery. My art has been displayed in the Phoenix Art Gallery, Bellport, NY, Fire Island Lighthouse, Bayard Cutting Arboretum, Baffa Art Gallery, Libraries: Bayport /Bluepoint, East Islip, Bay Shore/Brightwaters, Smithtown, Emma Clark, Islip. Art For Hunger’s Sake The INN, (Interfaith Nutrition Network) began in Hempstead, NY as a single soup kitchen in 1983. Today, there are a total of 16 soup kitchens, operating as part of The INN’s network across Long Island. This network of soup kitchens, food pantries and shelters, feeds more than 7,500 people each week. The dedicated volunteers ensure that each guest is treated with dignity and respect. Anyone who comes to The INN’s soup kitchens receives a hot, nutritious meal, a warm welcome and access to whatever additional support services are available. On April 22nd, at the Student Center Theater at Hofstra University, “Art for Hunger’s Sake,” brings together musicians, actors, comedians, dancers, artists and craftspeople, donating their talents to perform in the hopes of raising awareness of the work being done at The INN, as well as funding to support the work. This benefit concert and art show will be day two of a great INN fundraiser weekend. There will be a “Walk Against Hunger” on April 21st in the South Campus Gardens at Hofstra.
