Our team at Therapy Partners Group had a wonderful time participating in this year’s Education Leadership Conference! They connected and networked with over 50 universities and gave a poster presentation, Difficult Student Scenarios and the Impact of Collaboration of Clinical Instructors and Directors of Clinical Education.
Congratulations to Fatema Ghani, TPG’s Director of University Relations, and Alicia Rabena-Amen, from the University of the Pacific, on their presentation. And a special thanks to Melissa Buss, Tyler Goslinga, and Kate Menke for representing Team TPG!

Tyler Goslinga, of Golden Bear Physical Therapy, received his "CI of the Year Award" from the University of the Pacific! Tyler has been nominated three years in a row. This is his first win, from a pool of over 100 CIs who were nominated. This award is an outstanding testament to his consistency in providing quality clinical instruction.
National PT Month & the TPG Olympics brought our teams together across departments, locations, and time zones, igniting friendly competition and reinforcing our shared spirit. From cheering each other on in challenges to celebrating the wins and laughing ...so much laughing , this weeklong event reminded us that our culture thrives when we come together as a team.
Here’s to the incredible energy, teamwork, and camaraderie that makes TPG a truly great place to work!
Lateral ankle sprains are prevalent injuries in both athletic and general populations, with a significant risk of progressing to chronic ankle instability (CAI) Research indicates that up to 70% of individuals who sustain lateral ankle sprains may develop CAI, characterized by recurrent sprains, persistent pain, and functional limitations. Early intervention incorporating balance and proprioceptive training is crucial. A systematic review and meta-analysis have demonstrated that such training effectively reduces the recurrence of ankle sprains and enhances functional outcomes. Implementing dynamic exercises, such as single-leg stance on unstable surfaces and controlled perturbations, canaccelerateproprioceptiveimprovementsandsupportfunctionalrecovery.
Addressing the entire kinetic chain is essential in ankle sprain rehabilitation. Studies have identified that deficits in hip strength, particularly in the hip abductors, are associated with impaired dynamic balance and increased risk of ankle injuries. Incorporating hip-strengthening exercises, such as side-lying hip abductions and resisted lateral band walks, into rehabilitation programs can enhance lower extremity control and reduce stress on the ankle joint. Additionally, integrating sensorimotor training, including visual feedback mechanisms like mirror exercises or realtime biofeedback, can further improve proprioceptive awareness and motor learning in the affected limb. By adopting a comprehensive approach that combines balance training, hip strengthening, and sensorimotor exercises, clinicianscanoptimizerehabilitationoutcomes, minimizetheriskofrecurrentinjuries, andpromotelongtermjointhealthinpatientsrecoveringfromlateralanklesprains.

Prosport joined forces with TPG in March 2022. While the acquisition brought some initial unease, I quickly realized that TPG's patient-centered approach aligned closely with my own values. It's been a pleasure to grow with TPG.

Once upon a time, a young NFL football player came to our clinic after a season-ending injury His physical challenges were significant, but what struck me most was his story. He had faced tremendous adversity growing up poverty, broken family dynamics, and little future beyond football. For him, football wasn’t just a career; it was an escape from the hardships of his past When he arrived, his injury was devastating not only physically, but emotionally It was clear that his identity and sense of self-worth were tied to his performance on the field. My goal was to help him heal physically, but I quickly realized he needed support in rebuilding his life off the field, too.
Over the course of his rehab, we worked not just on strengthening his body, but on redefining his sense of purpose beyond football. I introduced him to the mental and emotional aspects of recovery coping strategies, mindfulness, and the importance of self-care. As he progressed physically, he started to open up about his struggles, and we developed a bond that went beyond patient and therapist. By the end of his treatment, his gratitude wasn’t just about regaining physical strength it was about having the confidence to face life’s challenges head-on, whether or not football was in his future Seeing him reclaim control of his life and future was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. It reminded me that in physical therapy, we don’t just heal bodies we have the opportunity to impact lives in ways we sometimes don’t even expect - Laura Scott
