On November 27, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, Aaron Lee Dove, Sr., passed away. He was 73 years old. A Hampton resident for 50 years, he was born and raised in Newport News, Virginia. He was the son of Ulysses Dove Senior and Noni May Dove of Newport News, Virginia.
Aaron was a 1971 graduate of Huntington High School in Newport News, Virginia. After graduation, he went to work for Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, where he became a dedicated employee for 45 years until his retirement as a master shipbuilder.

In 1972, on a blind date, he met his wife, Carol Denise Bembry of Norfolk, Virginia. Through this union of 49 years, they had two children, Chanel Dove and Aaron Dove, Jr.
Aaron was a hard-working, dutiful man who loved to be with his family. He loved sports, old R&B music, and jazz. His biggest thrill in life was to cook out on his grill. The aroma of his food could be smelled as soon as you entered the neighborhood. Aaron’s culinary skills inspired his son to become a chef. Aaron had a very warm and outgoing personality that made an impression on everyone he met. Aaron will forever be in our hearts and will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses and Nonie May Dove; three brothers, John C. Dove, Sr., Ulysses Dove, Sr., and Jerome Dove.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Carol B. Dove of the Home; one daughter, Chanel D. Dove of Newport News, Virginia; one son, Aaron Lee Dove, Jr. (Dominique) of Fort Belvoir, Virginia; two granddaughters, Ariana Dove, and Diana Dove of Fort Belvoir; one sister, Celine J. Dove Williams (Larry) of Houston Texas; two brothers, Norman R. Dove, Sr., Larry D. Dove, Sr.(Brenda); sister-in-law, Elizabeth Dove of Huntsville, Alabama, Eleanor Bond of Norfolk, Virginia, Cynthia Howell (Frank) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Carla Bembry of Norfolk, Virginia; two brother-in-law‘s, Ira Bembry of Chesapeake, Virginia, Kevin, Bembry of Norfolk, Virginia, two aunts, Josephine Jackson of Brooklyn, New York, Johnnie Mae Marcel of Glenwood, New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special childhood friends.
