this at least progress is now being made which can be monitored in line with the conditions attached to the development by Aberdeen City Council. For the many years the potential arrival of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route for the city and Kingswells has been evolving. It has reached a stage of development where it is now very clearly visible. It came alive during September when over a weekend there was firstly, an opportunity to walk with some entertainment at Maryculter and then on the Sunday the one and only opportunity to cycle 18km of the road, after opening the road will not be available to cyclists or farm vehicles. Kingswells Park & Ride played a big part in that weekend’s activities. On the Saturday it was a starting point for the shuttle buses to Maryculter and on the Sunday was the access point to the AWPR for the cyclists. We are certainly getting to the point where the road is preparing to open. It has been designated the A90 with the current A90
from the Stonehaven access to the new road through to the AWPR link around Blackdog being de-trunked and re-designated the A92. Many of the new road signs have now been installed. Will this new “by-pass” work and relieve traffic on other roads? The proof of the pudding will be in the eating, driver behaviour will play a big part in the success or otherwise of this development.
