TEMPOR ARY T YPOGR APHY Task 1

BRIEF * Create a letter from cardboard. * After the letter has been created, destroy it in a visually interesting way. MANDATORIES * High quality still images of the letter-form pre destruction. * A series of photographs. * Record the destruction in high quality. * High resolution still images of the letter-form after destruction. EVALUATION I thoroughly enjoyed this task I found it very therapeutic and peaceful whilst I was doing the work. The cutting out and the shaping and making sure that the measurement was correct gave me a sense of achievement when I actually finished the 3D letter. I had the idea of using the UWL logo in the form of 3D letters, also I wanted to do all the alphabet in this format and have them emerge in each country, yet I understood that for time purposes it wouldn’t be feasible to complete this idea. So I decided to use these two letters of my initials shown below. BLOG http://sunset17.com

3D T YPE Task 2

BRIEF * Explore Cinema 4D and create some letter combinations in the same way as you can see physical objects on the LoSiento website. MANDATORIES * Produce a letter to be 3d printed. * Poduce digital letter combinations. EVALUATION I liked merging the two letters together of my initials and moving it from one viewpoint to the next. When I applied colour and shadow the whole structure came to life and I really that the purple and gold compliments each other well. The use of grey-scale was nice for me to see it bring to the front of my mind the drawing and designing aspect of HB pencils. The light and dark purple series was interesting when using shadow light to enhance the colour. BLOG http://sunset17.com

L ASER CUT SHAPES Task 3

BRIEF * Develop ideas for a range of laser cut lights using the laser cut machine. MANDATORIES * All shades and covers are to be laser cut. EVALUATION The symbol of the sun look so much more striking when in the laser cut then paper, i wanted to play and have fun with the shapes in geometric shapes.I am gaining a new respect for the differences that shadow makes to the out come to a image or logo. the sun symbol when you add alittle black shadow is like day and night in appearance. PL AYING WITH CODE Task 4

BRIEF * Explore the basics of processing to create a range of pattern generating programmes using processing. MANDATORIES * Produce five variations on processing. EVALUATION The coding was very tricky and a bit difficult to get my head into, I was very thankful I had a professional lecturer Mark Owen who guided me throughout the process so I could complete this task. First thing was to take the shape of the Mercedes logo then break the logo into small separate par ts, then I viewed the way the shapes appeared and saw how I could place the pattern into grouping then added colour into the coding. PLAYING WITH CODE Development 1

Developments 1 and 2

DEVELOPMENT REVIEW I thoroughly appreciated learning about the different code values each one entered in it’s own series of numbers or changes the variation of the shapes which revealed a different pattern to the outcome of the work.

PROJEC TION FUN Task 5

BRIEF * In small groups produce photographs or videos to project onto appropriated surfaces. MANDATORIES * Videos and photographs that show your exploration of the process. EVALUATION The process was alot of fun, the first thing to do was to get a box shaped structure then I placed white paper on all sides so that the projection could be seen clearly. Then I found a video about something that I felt passionate about, the conservation of wild life. BLOG http://sunset17.com

BRIEF * Using techniques learn’t from task 1 create an outcome that projects onto an appropriated surface. MANDATORIES * High quality images and or video. EVALUATION For this task I used a light to project my name onto a projector screen. As I liked the projector task previously I was happy with the results for this task. BLOG http://sunset17.com

FINAL ARTEFAC T Task 7

BRIEF * Produce an ar tefact that documents the journey through this module. MANDATORIES * A final ar tefact that documents the tasks and outcomes you have produced during the module. EVALUATION For the final presentation of all completed tasks, I decided to place them in a well made professional document in the form of a book. I do enjoy creating books so this was pleasant to create and one I intend to do for my final major project. BLOG http://sunset17.com ISSUU https://issuu.com/home/publications
