FOREVER SCHOOLS CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

$14M to increase school capacity, build staff housing, and establish a lasting endowment to ensure a bright future for our students.

WHY DO OUR SCHOOLS NEED YOUR HELP?

The needs of our community are growing.

A GROWING COMMUNITY MEANS MORE STUDENTS

Jackson has been in the grip of a housing crisis for many years. As developers rush to meet the need, thousands of new residences are planned. By 2024 more than 825 new apartments and over 1,700 new single family homes are expected to be approved for construction. That translates into over 2,000 new students expected to enter the district in the next 10 years, nearly doubling current enrollment.

OUR SCHOOLS ARE ALREADY REACHING CAPACITY

Between 2021 and 2023, Jackson Hole HIgh School added more than 180 students. That nearly matches the growth seen during the previous twenty years combined. At this rate, the school will reach it’s full capacity much earlier than expected. JHHS is expected to be at full capacity by 2025.

TEACHERS & STAFF CAN’T AFFORD A FUTURE IN JACKSON HOLE

As local housing prices soar, TCSD staff and teachers are priced out. At the end of the 2022 school year, TCSD lost more than 60 staff, mostly due to a lack of stable, affordable housing.

THE NEEDS OF TCSD FAMILIES ARE CHANGING

While there is a perception that Teton County schools are well funded, local tax revenues are actually divided between schools across the state. And not every family experiences the same level of economic freedom. TCSD schools act as an essential safety net for 48 homeless students, over 600 food-insecure children, and provide key health and wellness services to many more. The need for basic human services within the schools is growing, even as state and federal funding declines.

ABOUT THE FUND FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION

For more than 15 years, the Fund for Public Education has been raising funds and providing resources to Teton County’s public schools. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit school foundation, we provide community donors the opportunity to directly impact the lives of nearly 3,000 students, and over 400 teachers and district staff members.

We support all 10 public schools, as well as district-wide initiatives in five key areas:

“The money raised by the Fund for Public Education and its donors enables our educators to provide every child with extraordinary opportunities and experiences not covered by state and federal funding. It allows both our teachers and our students to dream big and to accomplish more.”

BUILDING A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR OUR SCHOOLS

$3M $4M $7M

GOAL 1: BUILD TCSD EMPLOYEE HOUSING

In order to provide its staff with a secure and affordable future, TCSD is ready to build the first of three planned 24-unit apartment complexes near Jackson Hole Middle School. $16M in funding has already been secured through a SPET. $3M is still needed.

GOAL 2: INCREASE SCHOOL CAPACITY

TCSD schools are quickly reaching their capacity. This fund ensures the success of key projects like classroom expansions, new facilities for sports and activities, and more space for the district to grow. $4M is needed.

GOAL 3: ESTABLISH AN ENDOWMENT

The Fund For Public Education supports essential projects and programs that don’t fall under TCSD’s budget, including scholarships, healthcare for kids in need, free meals for students, and much more. By seeding an endowment and growing capacity, we can ensure that TCSD kids will have support for generations to come. $7M is needed

“Each of the campaign goals of FOREVER SCHOOLS answers a specific unmet need in our district. The district capacity initiative helps expand and build the facilities that our students and teachers depend upon. District housing makes it possible to attract and retain the best staff by offering them a secure future in Jackson. And the creation of a lasting endowment ensures that our schools will have the support they need for years to come. We could not hope for a better partner than the Fund for Public Education.

Together we’re building a stronger, brighter future for Teton County’s public schools.”
