The island has fiestas throughout this period and all the dates and venues can be found listed on Fuertextra “what’s on guide.” If you are lucky enough to be able to attend one of the many fiestas, you will be treated to some professional free live music, join in with the locals dancing, singing and eating Spanish tapas. Some of the religious events are spectacular with boats on the ocean decorated with colourful flowers displaying the local saint statue. Remember to try some local tapas and produce accompanied with local wines. Swim in the ocean but always be aware of the currents and keep safe. The edition has sports info, puzzles, special recipe and much more, so enjoy. If you are visiting any of the Canarian Islands please remember to wear a mask if entering a pharmacia, doctors, hospital or any health centre, as well as still being vigilant in large crowds. Tesejerague Promenade
Paseo Tesejeragüe
E
n el pueblo de Tesejerague se va a construir un paseo peatonal entre el centro educativo local y la iglesia. El proyecto del Ayuntamiento de Tuineje contará con nuevas zonas pavimentadas y zonas verdes para ofrecer un espacio seguro y adaptado para los peatones, especialmente para los estudiantes. Este proyecto también incluirá las obras necesarias para la correcta canalización de aguas pluviales y el sistema de riego de la vegetación propuesta, así como la instalación de alumbrado público.

n the village of Tesejerague a pedestrianised promenade is going to be constructed between the local education centre and the church. The project by Tuineje council will have new paved areas as well as green zones to provide a safe and adapted area for pedestrians, especially for the students. This project will also include the necessary works for the correct channels of rainwater and the irrigation system for the proposed vegetation, as well as the installation of public lighting.

Ayuda para la industria pesquera
E
n junio el Gobierno destinó 400.000 euros a mejorar las ayudas al sector pesquero de Fuerteventura. El dinero se destinará a los gremios y cooperativas de pescadores para ayudar a proporcionar nuevos equipos y mejorar las embarcaciones para brindar un servicio más eficiente en beneficio de los pescadores y el consumidor. Con esta ayuda gubernamental también se mejorarán los equipos de oficina e informática, así como el transporte de productos pesqueros y maquinaria industrial que se requiere para la industria en la isla.

n June the Government allocated 400,000 euros to improving the help for the fishing industry on Fuerteventura. The money will go to the fisherman’s guilds and cooperatives to help provide new equipment and improve boats to provide a more efficient service to benefit the fishermen and the consumer. Office and computer equipment will also be improved through this government help as well as the transportation of fishing products and industrial machinery that is required for the industry on the island.

Mejoras Casillas del Ángel

l Cabildo de Fuereventura iniciará las obras del acceso viario y peatonal a la Casa de los Mayores y al AgroHotel Los Rugama. La obra también incluirá la reconstrucción de los muros de mampostería próximos a la vía, alumbrado público, mejora y renovación de los suministros de agua y saneamiento. El nuevo acceso cumplirá con todas las normas legales y viales para la correcta y segura circulación de vehículos y personas a la Casa de los Mayores, ubicada en el núcleo urbano de Casillas del Ángel, así como al Agro-Hotel Los Rugama. La necesidad de esta obra se fundamenta en la precariedad del acceso actual, formado por un camino de terracería que no reúne las condiciones mínimas de seguridad vial y comodidad para sus usuarios.

he Cabildo of Fuereventura is to start work on the road and pedestrian access to the Casa de los Mayores and the Agro-Hotel Los Rugama. The work will also include the reconstruction of the masonry walls near to the road, public lighting, improvement and renewal of water supplies and sanitation. The new access will comply with all legal and road regulations for the correct and safe circulation of vehicles and people to the Casa de los Mayores, located in the urban centre of Casillas del Ángel, as well as to the Agro-Hotel Los Rugama. The need for this work is based on the precariousness of the current access, made up of a dirt road that does not meet the minimum conditions of road safety and comfort for its users.

Last April Primark launched its new website in Spain, which aims to establish a better connection between online browsing and in-store shopping. l Cabildo de Fuerteventura junto con el Fuerteventura Yacht Club organizaron la undécima “Copa de Canarias”. En Puerto del Rosario por primera vez en la isla. El evento tuvo lugar los días 1 y 2 de julio en la bahía de la capital. puerto del rosario. El evento contó con la participación de aproximadamente 80 barcos de la clase internacional optimist, reuniendo a los mayores talentos de la vela canaria en esta categoría, ofreciendo la oportunidad de competir juntos y mejorar las habilidades de los jóvenes regatistas de Fuerteventura y de todas las Canarias. La edad de los competidores fue entre 8 y 15 años. Este evento también permitió a la Isla aprovechar y valorar las magníficas condiciones que ofrece el campo de regatas de Puerto del Rosario, que se encuentra al pie de la rampa más grande de las islas, de 45 metros de ancho, y junto a las instalaciones de la Escuela Náutica. donde se realizó el evento. La Copa de Canarias es una prueba que se organiza de forma rotativa entre las distintas islas por la Asociación de Clubes Náuticos de Canarias, bajo el reglamento oficial de la Real Federación Española de Vela de la Clase Optimist internacional. Se llevaron a cabo seis pruebas durante los 2 días y las puntuaciones más altas se registraron dando un premio a los competidores masculinos y femeninos en tres grupos de edad.
he Cabildo de Fuerteventura together with the Fuerteventura Yacht Club organised the eleventh “Copa de Canarias” in Puerto del Rosario for the first time on the island. The event took place on the 1st and 2nd of July in the bay of the capital, Puerto del Rosario. The Canary Islands Cup is a test that is organized on a rotating basis between the different islands by the Canary Islands Association of Yacht Clubs, under the official regulations of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation of the international Optimist Class. Six tests were carried out over the 2 days and the highest scores recorded giving a prize to male and female competitors in three age groups.

There are many recipes to be enjoyed in the Summer in Fuerteventura, below is one of the very popular ones. Perfect for dinners, lunches and snacks, this spiced tortilla is a great in-the-fridge standby for many occasions
Preparación 5 min, tiempo de cocción aprox., 20 min. Para 4 personas.
2. Agregue las especias, fría durante 1 minuto más, luego agregue Ingredientes los tomates cherry, las 1 cucharada de aceite papas y los tallos de de girasol cilantro a la sartén. 1 cebolla, en rodajas 1 chile rojo, sin semillas y desmenuzado 2 cucharaditas de especias de curry (use cilantro, comino y cúrcuma) 300 g de tomates cherry. 500 g de patata cocida, en rodajas manojo de cilantro, tallos finamente picados, hojas picadas 8 huevos, batidos.
3. Sazone bien los huevos, vierta sobre la parte superior de las verduras y deje cocinar a fuego lento durante 8-10 minutos hasta que esté casi listo. 4. Caliente la parrilla y seque la tortilla debajo durante 1-2 minutos hasta que la parte superior esté lista. 5. Esparza las hojas de cilantro y el chile restante por encima, córtelos en gajos y sirva con una ensalada verde.
Preparation 5 mins, cooking time approx., 20 minutes. Serves 4. Ingredients.
Method 1. Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Fry the onion and half the chilli for 5 mins until softened.

La gira internacional de cine oceánico
E
l festival sobre los océanos más grande de Europa, hizo escala por primera vez en sus 17 años de historia en Fuerteventura, en el auditorio municipal de Corralejo, el pasado 23 de junio. Después de recorrer 18 países cada año con 350 eventos, el festival número uno del continente llegó por fin el 23 de junio. la isla, coincidiendo con la noche mágica de las fiestas de San Juan. Tras la proyección anterior en Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura ha proyectado 6 cortometrajes seleccionados entre miles de obras de todo el planeta. El festival de cine gira en torno a la sensibilización para la protección y conservación de los océanos en Canarias y en el cuidado y conservación del medio ambiente. Los cortometrajes documentales procedían de Australia, Alemania, Tonga, Líbano, Polonia, Inglaterra y España, y mostraban el compromiso de muchas personas con la protección de los océanos. La Gira Internacional de Cine Oceánico continuará su recorrido por el Teatro Guimerá de Tenerife y el singular auditorio de los Jameos del Agua de Lanzarote, para luego emprender su ruta por otras 15 ciudades de España.

The International Ocean Film Tour
T
he largest festival on the oceans in Europe, stopped for the first time in its 17-year history in Fuerteventura in Corralejo municipal auditorium on June 23. After touring 18 countries each year with 350 events, the number one festival on the continent finally arrived on the island, coinciding with the magical night of San Juan festival. After the screening in Gran Canaria earlier, Fuerteventura had 6 short films shown selected from thousands of works from all over the planet. The film festival revolves around raising awareness for the protection and conservation of the oceans in the Canary Islands and in caring for the environment and conserving it. The short film documentaries were from Australia, Germany, Tonga, Lebanon, Poland, England, and Spain, and showed the commitment of many people to the ocean protection. The International Ocean Film Tour will continue its tour to the Guimerá Theatre in Tenerife and the unique auditorium of the Jameos del Agua in Lanzarote, and then set off on its route through 15 other cities in Spain.

Una vez voluntarios
E
l Servicio de Voluntariado Once crece año tras año y acaba de superar los 100.000 servicios prestados a personas ciegas o deficientes visuales afiliadas a la Organización. Desde hacer una llamada telefónica un día a la semana hasta correr una maratón, las opciones de apoyo voluntario son ilimitadas. En concreto, en Canarias hay un total de 57 voluntarios que, gracias a su participación, mejoran la calidad de vida de las personas con discapacidad visual de la comunidad. Este servicio está en constante crecimiento y actualmente cuenta con 3.050 personas, la mayoría a título personal, así como con unas 79 entidades, como Cruz Roja y Grandes Amigos. Para ser voluntario Once no hay requisitos específicos, ni formación ni experiencia previa, puede ser voluntario cualquier persona mayor de 18 años que quiera dedicar su tiempo a esta obra social. Casi uno de cada dos servicios de voluntariado que se prestan en Once se concentran en el teléfono, necesario para paliar situaciones de soledad no deseada, aspecto al que el Grupo Social Once dedica especial atención. Pero los voluntarios de la Organización también prestan otro tipo de apoyo, como el acompañamiento presencial a personas invidentes para realizar trámites o acceder a lugares. he Once Volunteer Service grows year after year and has just exceeded 100,000 services provided to blind or visually impaired people affiliated with the Organization. From making a phone call one day a week to running a marathon, the options in volunteer support are limitless. Specifically, in the Canary Islands there are a total of 57 volunteers who, thanks to their participation, improve the quality of life of people with visual disabilities in the community. This service is constantly growing and currently has 3,050 people, the majority being in a personal capacity as well as around 79 entities, such as the Red Cross and Great Friends. To volunteer for Once there is no specific requirements, training or previous experience needed, just anyone over the age of 18 who wants to dedicate their time to this social work can volunteer. Almost one out of every two volunteer services provided at Once is concentrated on the telephone which is necessary to alleviate situations of unwanted loneliness, an aspect to which the Once Social Group dedicates special attention. But the volunteers of the Organization also provide other types of support, such as face-to-face accompaniment to blind people to carry out procedures or access places. KFC Opens in Corralejo
l pasado 30 de junio se inauguró un nuevo restaurante KFC en Corralejo junto al garaje de BP en la avenida Juan Carlos, que es la vía que baja al puerto en lo alto del pueblo. KFC comenzó originalmente con un cocinero, el coronel Harland Sanders, quien creó una buena receta para chuparse los dedos hace más de 80 años, que contenía una lista de hierbas y especias secretas que escribió en la parte posterior de la puerta de su cocina. Se hizo famoso por usar su traje blanco y abrió la primera franquicia cerca de Salt Lake City, Utah. Después de esto, el coronel Sanders comenzó a firmar muchas más franquicias en los EE. UU., hasta que en 1964 vendió la empresa KFC a los inversores. n June 30th a new KFC restaurant opened in Corralejo next to the BP garage on Avenue Juan Carlos, which is the road that leads down to the port at the top of the town. KFC originally started with one cook, Colonel Harland Sanders, who created a finger licking good recipe more than 80 years ago, containing a list of secret herbs and spices which he wrote on the back of his kitchen door. He became famous for wearing his white suit and opened the first franchise near Salt Lake City, Utah. After this Colonel Sanders began to sign up many more franchises across the USA, until in 1964 when he sold the KFC company to investors. Sadly, he died in 1980 at the age of 90, but his legacy lives on through his original recipe which the company carries on today with chefs preparing fresh chicken delights in more than 26,000 restaurants in over 150 countries and territories around the world. Spain has over 241 stores, with Madrid having the most number with 52 stores, which is 22% of all KFC stores in Spain. There are branches in Tenerife, Gran Canary, Lanzarote and now the first one is open in Fuertventura offering many chicken bucket deals, opening offers, salads, burgers, desserts and more. Puerto del Rosario Es la capital de la isla desde 1860, antes conocida como Puerto Cabras, ciudad que ha sido bastante desarrollada hasta dia de hoy para ofrecer atracciones a sus visitantes. Puede llegar facilmente a Puerto del Rosario, desde cualquier punto de la isla, puede pasear en sus calles peatonales, como la calle Primero de Mayo, llena de tiendas y restaurantes, antes de llegar a la plaza con su iglesia central. Puede tambien encontar El Museo de Unamuno, escritor y filosofo, tambien puede visitar el teatro para informarse de su musica y cultura. Puerto del Rosario The capital of the island since 1860, formerly known as Puerto Cabras, this city has been largely developed to now offer many attractions to visitors. Puerto del Rosario can be easily reached from anywhere on the island, so take a stroll along the main pedestrianised street, Calle Primero de Mayo, passing shops, restaurants before reaching the area where the main church of the island is situated. There is the museum of Unamuno, a writer and philosopher to visit, as well as a theatre showing music and culture. A walk around the city provides you with an open-air sculpture park, see if you can find them! Puerto del Rosario with its port, beach, go-carting, coastal walkway and lots more is highly recommended for a visit. Visit Las Rotondas - Largest shopping centre on the island.
Parque Natural de Corralejo El protegido parque natural de Corralejo es una zona que mide 2,5x10.5 kilometros. En su desierto nos ofrece una belleza en la forma de sus dunas y aguas cristalinas. Hay caminos que contrar entre las dunas en ambos lados de la carretera que separa ambos lados del parque natural. Anualmente se celebra ,cada Noviembre, El Festival Internacional de Cometas en estas espectaculares playas, atrayendo al evento amateurs y profesionales de todos los rincones del mundo.
Corralejo Natural Park The protected natural park of Corralejo is a coastal zone measuring 2,5 x 10,5 kilometres, offering a desert style beauty of sand dunes and pristine beaches. There are walks to be found through the dunes on both sides of the road that travels all through the natural park. In November each year the World International Kite festival is held on these spectacular beaches, attracting amateur and professional kite flyers from around the World.
Islote Lobos Desde el parque natural se puede observar el islote de la isla de Lobos, un pequeño paraiso donde puede disfrutar un dia de senderismo al volcan o en un recorrido al islote. Tambien puede surfear o relajarse en sus lagunas. El islote tiene un tamaño de seis kilometros cuadrados. Se encuentra a 2 kilometros de Noreste de Fuerteventura y a 8 kilometros del Sur de Lanzarote. El Islote Lobos esta protegido y los visitantes diaros no pueden pasar de 400, 200 en la mañana y 200 en la tarde, lo cual significa que solo puede pasar 4 horas alli.
Los Lobos From the natural park you can view the island of Los Lobos, a small paradise island where you can enjoy a day of hiking to the volcano or around the whole island, surfing or just relaxing in the beautiful lagoons. It is 6 square kilometres in size and 2 kilometres from North East Fuerteventura and 8 kilometres from Southern Lanzarote. It is a protected island and visitors are limited to 400 per day, 200 in the morning and 200 in the afternoon, which means now you can only spend 4 hours there.
Corralejo Este es el mayor resort turistico del Norte de Fuerteventura, presumiendo de muchas instalaciones deportivas, como por ejemplo navegacion, surfing, windsurfing y muchas mas escuelas. Es un pueblo vibrante con una gran variedad de cocina, musica, bebidas y culturas internacionales. Corralejo es el hogar del unico parque acuatico en la isla y tambien tiene mercados artesanos en el centro campanario, donde tambien puede entrar al campanario para una perspectiva unica del lugar. Desde el puerto puede encontrar ferrys a El Islote Lobos o a la isla vecina de Lanzarote. El Cotillo Es un pueblo costero en el Noroeste de la isla con un registro historico que data del siglo 17, cuando solamente se conocia como un pueblo pesquero. En el 1700, la Torre del Toston fue construida, la cual es una torre circular que fue usada como defensa contra piratas que llegaban de lugares como Francia, Inglaterra y el Norte de Africa. Mirando desde lo alto del Toston a la izquierda, puede ver los acantilados por los que tambien puede caminar y participar en Windsurfing en las numerosas playas. El pueblo tiene dos puertos, una nuevo y una viejo y los restaurantes tienen bastante pescado fresco, tambien puede encontrar a various artesanos, fabricando regalos a mano. En la parte derecha de este pueblo puede conducir unos tres kilometros al faro del Toston, el cual goza de un Museo de Pesca Tradicional. Despues le recomendamos que visite las lagunitas, ideales para practicar snorkeling o para nadar. Lajares Es un pueblo del interior en la parte Norte de la isla. Se encuentra entre El Cotillo y Corralejo. Lajares es una lugar bastante popular como alojamiento por los surferos. Se pueden encontrar pequeños bares, tiendas y pasteleros incluyendo tambien numerosos restaurantes y eventos de musica en vivo. Un retiro de yoga se encuentra en este lugar y tambien la partida de una ruta de senderismo que empieza en Volcan Calderon cerca del pueblo. Montaña Roja Tres kilometros al Sur de Tindaya, un antiguo volcan tiene la estatua de Don Miguel de Unamuno en su costado Este. Este filosofo y escritor del siglo veinte fue exiliado a Fuerteventura. La estatua es de ocho metros de alto y la puede acceder por medio de un sendero rocoso. En la capital, Puerto del Rosario, se puede encontrar un museo dedicada a este ilustre escritor.
Corralejo This is the largest tourist Fuerteventura boasting sailing, surfing, more with many town with a music, only water
resort in the North of numerous sporting facilities for windsurfing, kitesurfing and schools available. It is a vibrant wide range of international cuisine, drinks and cultures. It is home to the park on the island, and has local craft markets in the Campanario centre, where you can also climb to the top of the bell tower for a unique perspective of the town. From the port you can catch a local ferry to Los Lobos, or take a trip to our neighbouring Canary Island, Lanzarote.
El Cotillo A coastal town on the far North West of the island dates back to the 17th century, when it was known as a fishing settlement. In 1700 the Torre del Toston was built, which is a round tower that was used as a defence against pirates who operated from France, England and North Africa. Look out for the Toston on the left side of the village, where you can also walk along the cliffs or partake in Windsurfing on the numerous beaches. The village has 2 harbours old and new, with numerous fresh fish restaurants and bars, as well as many artists at work and hand-made gift shops. On the right side of the village take a drive up to the active Toston lighthouse about 3 km, which houses a Traditional Fisheries museum. Later a must visit are the beautiful lagoons ideal for snorkelling and swimming. Lajares A north inland village mid-way between Corralejo and El Cotillo, Lajares is a popular place for surfers to stay. There is an array of small bars, bakers, shops as well as numerous restaurants and some live music. A yoga retreat centre is here and the start of the walk up to the volcano Calderon starts near the village. Burnt Mountain About 3km South of Tindaya is the Burnt Mountain, an ancient volcano which has a statue of Don Miguel de Unamuno on its Eastern slope. This was a writer and philosopher of the 20th century who was exiled to Fuerteventura. The statue is about 8 metres high and can be accessed by a rocky path. In the capital of Puerto del Rosario there is a museum dedicated to this illustrious writer.

Tindaya Se trata del pueblo al lado de la montaña de Tindaya, el lugar de los primeros habitantes de Fuerteventura, considerado como montaña sagrada por sus propiedades magicas. Se puede encontrar alrededor de 300 pies grabados en sus piedras, los cuales miden entre 17 y 34 centimetros, todos apuntando al mismo sitio. Se dice que en el pasado este era el lugar para adorar a las estrellas por lluvia para los campos. Para acceder a la montaña, debe pedir un permiso al Ministerio Medioambiental de Fuerteventura. Estos se puede adquirir en las oficinas del Cabildo de Puerto del Rosario o en las mayores oficinas de Corralejo. Los Molinos y Tefia El Puertito de Los Molinos es un pueblo pesquero en la costa esta. Con una poblacion de menos de veinte, la mayoria de las propiedades que alli se encuentra son usadas como segundos hogares. El pueblo tiene la una alberca de patos en Fuerteventura, la cual goza de grande gansos salvajes. Durante el invierno es una playa de callaos, pero en verano es una playa de arena marron. Tambien se puede encontrar un barranco increible para disfrutar del senderismo, esta ruta termina en el pueblo, un lugar idea para probar las tapas del lugar. Cuando la marea esta baja se descubre una cueva que puede ser visitada, pero tenga cuidado es una nario de fuerte oleaje. En la parte posterior del pueblo hay una carretera de piedra, justo antes de Las Parcelas, esta carretera la llevara al presa de agua. Esta fue construida en el 1940 para el uso de la agricultura y ganaderia. Debajo de la carretera principal a Tefia, se encuentra el ecomuseo La Alcogida, un museo que representa la manera en la que los granjeros locales vivian. Casas de piedra pequeñas se han construido para su visita. En dichas casitas puede ver a diferentes los artesanos trabajar. Una guia de audio tambien esta disponible para que usted la disfrute. Betancuria Este es un pueblo pequeño, que era antiguamente la vieja capital y esta situada en la parte Este de la isla. Bentancuria fue dotada de su nombre por Juan de Bethencourt, un guerrero normando que fundo el pueblo del 1404. En ese tiempo la localidad fue escogida por su posicion interior en la isla y por las defensas a los piratas de ese tiempo. Fue la capital hasta el 1834 y es la municipalidad mas pequeña de Fuerteventura. Esta a 21 kilometros de la capital Puerto del Rosario y 2 kilometros al Este de Antigua. Este municipio tienen mucho para ver, desde la escuela de Santa Maria, el museo arqueologico, La Casa Museo de Betancurio, El Convento e Iglesia Franciscano del cual solamente quedan las paredes de su vieja iglesia y finalmente tambien puede encontrar varios productos autoctonos como quesos y tapas locales. Al final de este pueblo tambien puede encontrar una queseria y muchas cosas mas. De camino a Betancuria podra disfrutar de una ruta escenica y puede disfrutar del punto de vista de Morro Velosa. Diseñado por Cesar Manrique, un famoso artista y diseñador de Lanzarote, la Biosfera Unesco le reserva vistas a todos los alrededores con sus toscas colinas y paisajes en una casa que contiene informacion acerca de la actividad geologica que ha transcurrido en la isla. Antigua Se trata de uno de los pueblos mas antiguos de la isla. Geograficamente esta en el centro de Fuerteventura. La Iglesia en este pueblo es conocida como ‘’La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora’’ y data del siglo dieciséis. La mas maravillosas de sus piezas en el Altar es la escultura de Nuestra Señora y a su lado San Juan el Bautista y San Jose. La entrada amurallada y su gran campanario son bastante prominentes en el pueblo. Mientras esté en Antigua, visite uno de los bares o restaurantes tradicionales y pruebe la auténtica cocina española. Cerca de Antigua se encuentra El Museo del Queso Majorero, un lugar donde puede encinrar como se hace el queso y tambien hallara un molino restaurado que puede visitar junto a un jardin de cactus y artesanias. Su visita vale la pena y esta abierto la mayoria de los dias. El Pueblo de Antigua tambien es hogar de su Ayuntamiento y cabildo local los cuales tambien tienen edificios impresionantes al lado de la iglesia. Caleta de Fuste Este fue tambien un pueblo pesquero que ha crecido en uno de los lugares mas turisiticos de la isla de Fuerteventura. Hace mucho años era usada como pasaje a la isla ya que los locales construyeron La Torre Caleta de Fuste como proteccion a los ataques. El Castillo era una torre de dos pisos que se hayaba cerca del puerto. En la carretera FV-2 en la entrada Norte a Caleta de Fuste, se encuentra una replica del castillo. Junto a la costa, cerca del Centro Comercial Atlantico, se encuentra el ejemplo de un horno asi como otros edificios. En el area peatonal fuera del Happy Centre al final del resort, esta la estatua de Doña Frasquita, la cual fue de las primeras habitantes de Caleta de Fuste cuando el pueblo solo tenia su casa y un restaurante para cocinar a los pescadores y al extraño visitante. El restaurante original fue demolido en el 2015 para dar lugar a la nueva avenida maritima. El nuevo lugar esta ahora al lado de la playa. Los varios hoteles en la zona ofrecen varias formas de entretenimientos acuaticos, como nadar con focas en el puerto, excursiones en bote y mucho mas. Tambien podra encontrar un campo de golf de 18 hoyos. Puede caminar hacia el norte en la ruta costera para asi llegar a su pueblo vecino Costa de Antigua con una variedad de restaurantes y bares locales.

Tindaya This village is next to the Montana de Tindaya, a place that the original inhabitants of Fuerteventura considered to be a sacred mountain with magical properties. There are some 300 mysterious foot engravings on Tindaya which measure between 17-34 cm in length and all point the same way. In the past it is said that the people used to go to the top and worship the stars and pray for rain for their crops. To access the mountain you must request a permit from the Environment Ministry of Fuerteventura’s Cabildo. This can be obtained in Puerto del Rosario offices or at the major’s office in Corralejo. Los Molinos and Tefia Puertito de Los Molinos is a small fishing village on the West coast with a population less than twenty, with most of the properties being used as second holiday homes for locals. It has the only duck pond in Fuerteventura and quite a few wild Turkeys. In the Winter it is a pebble beach, but in the Summer a brown coloured beach can be seen. There is a ravine which is great for hiking which ends at the village, an ideal place to sample some local tapas. When the sea is low there is a sea cave that can be visited, but be careful as the seas in this village are notorious for strong waves. Further back from the village is a dirt track on the right just before the village of Las Parcelas which leads to a reservoir with a dam. This was constructed in the 1940’s for agricultural and livestock use. Back on the main road in Tefia there is the Ecomuseo de la Alcogida, a museum that depicts the lifestyle of the local farmers. Small stone houses are built around for you to visit and view the different craftsmen at work. An audio tour is available for you to enjoy. Betancuria This is a small town, formerly the old capital, situated inland in the Western side of the island. Betancuria is named after Jean de Bethencourt, a Norman knight, who founded the town in 1404. At the time the location was chosen for its secluded inland position to offer a better defence against the attack of pirates. It remained the capital until 1834 and it is the smallest municipality on Fuerteventura. It is 21km Southwest of the capital now Puerto del Rosario and 2km West of Antigua. The town has much to see, for example the church of Santa Maria, the Archaeological Musuem, Casa Museo de Betancuria, the Franciscan convent and church of which only the old church walls remain, as well as many local produce shops selling cheese and wine and numerous tapas bars. To the back of the village there is a goat farm you can visit and see cheese making and much more. On the way to Betancuria enjoy the scenic road and take a look at the viewpoint of Morro Velosa. Designed by Cesar Manrique, a famous local artist and designer from Lanzarote, the Unesco Biosphere reserve is an all round view of rugged hills and landscapes with an elegant house which contains information about the geological volcanic past of the island. Antigua This is one of the oldest towns on the island, and is situated geographically in the centre of Fuerteventura. The church in this town, known as “Church of our Lady” dates back to the mid sixteenth century, with its most outstanding feature being the altarpiece dominated by the sculpture of Our Lady and flanked by St John the Baptist and St Joseph. The stone walled entrance stands out as well as the impressive bell tower on the right-hand side of the building. While in Antigua, visit one of the traditional bars or restaurants in the village, and sample some authentic Spanish cuisine. Nearby to Antigua is the Museo del Queso Majorero, a place having cheesemaking displays, a restored windmill you can visit, a cactus garden and local crafts. It is well worth a visit and is open most days. Antigua is the home to the Ayuntamiento, the local council, which has an impressive building close to the plaza. Caleta de Fuste This was once a small fishing village, which has grown into one of Fuerteventura’s main tourist destinations. Years ago the bay was used by pirates as a gateway to the island, so the locals built the Torre de Caleta de Fuste as a protection against attacks. The Castillo or castle is a two-storey tower which can be found near to the port. On the FV-2 road at the North entrance to Caleta de Fuste there is a small-scale replica of the Castillo. Along the coast near to the Atlantico centre there is an example of a kiln as well as original buildings. In the pedestrianised area outside the Happy Centre at the bottom of resort, there is the Statue of Dona Frasquita, who was one of the first residents of Caleta de Fuste, when the town only had her house as a restaurant for meals for local fisherman or the odd visitor. The original restaurant of Frasquita was demolished in 2015 to make way for the new maritime walkway. The new venue is now by the beach. The resort offers many water sports, swimming with sea lions at the port, boat excursions and much more, as well as boasting two 18-hole golf courses. Take a walk North along the coastal route and visit neighbouring Costa de Antigua with its variety of local restaurants and bars.

Cada octubre se celebra desfile alrededor del pueblo conmemorando el evento. Tamaretilla Es un pueblo pequeño en el municipio de Tuineje cerca al Cardon en el cual se encuentra la pista internacional de karting interno con una pista de 1500 metros para seniors, una de 500 metros para principiantes y una de 125 metros para niños. En dicho lugar tambien podra encontrar refrigerios y un mirador donde ver la carrera. Gran Tarajal Este es el pueblo principal de el municipio de Tuineje y son conocidos por tener la mejorplaya urbana de bandera azul de la isla. La playa de un kilometro tiene una avenida interesante a su lada un una plaza unica con arboles, bancos y estatuas dedicadas al Festival Internacional de Payasos Tran Tran, que se celebra cada Septiembre. Las Playitas Mientras se encuentra en esta area visite este pueblo tan hermoso, con su avenida tan atractiva con sendero a el hotel de deportes el cual tiene una piscina de tamaño olimpico, puede practicar senderismo en sus bellas montañas y ver en sus crestas una gran vista de Gran Tarajal. Tambien puede encontrar un campo de golf. Al salir de area, a su derecha, vera una señal para el faro de La Entallada donde puede visitar su mirador. Este lugar se trata de un faro activo en la arquitectura tradicional de Fuerteventura con vistas increibles que llevan a varias rutas de senderismo. Tarajalejo Una visita en ruta es casi obligada, con su atmosfera tranquila y la impresionante avenida maritima llena de esculturas y de un gimnasio al aire libre. Tambien se encuentra aqui un campamento en la parte del sur, con un hotel de 4 estrellas en la playa. Pajara Este pueblo es conocido como uno de las lindos de la isla con sus flores adornando el cauce seco. Un paseo por sus alrededores le brindara el disfrute de pequeñas calles locales con sus tapas y hasta un hotel pequeño. La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Regla tiene esculturas solares, de serpientes, panteras y pajaros bastante interesantes. Tuineje This is a town and a municipality in the southern part of the island with a population around 14,000. It was the site of two battles between locals and English privateers in 1740. Every year in October there is a parade around the village depicting this event. Tamaretilla This small village in the county of Tuineje near to Cardon is home to an international outdoor karting circuit with a track length of 1500m for seniors, and 500m one for juniors and 125m for kids. There are refreshments and a viewing terrace. Gran Tarajal This is the main town in the municipality of Tuineje, and it’s known for having the best, blue flag approved urban beach on the island. The kilometre long beach has an interesting promenade next to it and the plaza is unique with its trees and many statues and benches dedicated to the Tran Tran international clown festival, held here every September. There is also a large marina here which hosts the International Deep Sea Fishing Championships in September. In October the famous re-enactments of the battles of Tamasite and El Cuchillete take place in the town and beach. Las Playitas While in this area take a visit to this pretty village with its attractive sea walk along to the sports hotel with Olympic size swimming pool or a hike up the mountains onto the ridge and take in the views of Gran Tarajal. There is also a golf course here. When leaving the area turn right when you see a sign for Faro de la Entallada, and visit the viewpoint. This is an active lighthouse depicting traditional Fuerteventura architecture with breathtaking views and numerous walking routes. Tarajalejo A visit to this village on route is a must, with its tranquil atmosphere and impressive promenade walk hosting an outside gym and sculptures. There is a campsite on the Southside as well as a 4 star hotel on the beachside. The village offers many interesting refreshments places and has a pier for an added stroll. La Lajita This is another typical local village with a new plaza and walkway close to the church. It has many facilities including a pharmacy and large supermarket. Nearby on the main FV2 road is the Oasis Park, the island’s only zoo which opened in 1985. This is a beautiful nature reserve, covering 800,000 metres square, and is home to over 3000 animals and over 250 different species. It also contains a unique botanical garden with the largest cactus garden in Europe. It is opened everyday and houses three restaurants, a child’s play area and a local market on a Sunday. There are free buses from many resorts that can take you to the Oasis Park. Pajara This town is known as one of the prettiest on the island with its many flowers adorning the dry riverbed. A stroll around here is a must enjoying the small local streets with tapas bars and a beautiful small hotel. The church of Nuestra Senora de Regla has interesting sculptures of sun, snakes, panther and birds above the main entrance, which show some Aztec influence.

Ajuy Un pueblo pesquero pequeño en la Costa Oeste. Ajuy tiene las cuevas espectaculares, las cuales se estima que fueron de las primeras formaciones de Las Islas Canarias. Para entrar a esta cuevas, el camino empieza en La Playa de Ajuy con un sendero de 500 metros donde se pueden encontrar dunas fosiles de la isla y donde tambien estan antiguos hornos al lado del mar. En el pasado esta area proporciono cal a Gran Canaria y Tenerife. Las cuevas puede ser bastante humedas y desafortunadamente no tienen acceso para personas con discapacidades. Ajuy A small fishing village on the rugged West coast, Ajuy is host to some spectacular caves, which are estimated to be the oldest formations in the Canary Islands. They are very important from a geological perspective and are among the 150 sites of primary geological interest in the world. Access to these caves begins at Ajuy beach with a trail around 500 metres which takes in some of the oldest fossil dunes on the island as well as several lime kilns next to the sea. In the past this area supplied lime to Gran Canaria and Tenerife. The caves can be damp and cool and unfortunately does not have access for anyone with reduced mobility. After your climb and cave visit many excellent fish and tapas restaurants await for you in the village.

Costa Calma This is one of the popular tourist resorts in the South of the island. Numerous luxury hotels and apartments adorn the wonderful coastline, and it is home to Sotovento Beach which hosts the Windsurfing and Kiteboarding World Cup. The beach is famous for its lagoon which fills up when the tide is high, providing a haven for surfers and kiters to learn and practice their sports. This is also the most famous beach viewpoint of Fuerteventura and often appears on postcards and adverts promoting tourism here.

Morro Jable This is the most Southern resort on Fuerteventura and is known for its glorious beaches. The El Matorral beach is 4km long and contains the lighthouse and the skeleton of a sperm whale, as well as a wetland which is home to many bird species. The Saladar de Jandia salt flat is a protected scientific area. Drive through the town and you will see an array of shops and hotels, as well as the sign to the 18 hole golf course, before arriving at the old town. This is steeped in local atmosphere with many tapas and fresh fish on offer, the swimming here is perfect as is the snorkelling. A must is a short climb up to the church of Nuestra Senora del Carmen for a panoramic view of Morro Jable. After leaving the old town visit the port which is home to the turtle nursery, a rehabilitation centre for turtles as well as the ferries across to Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
Cofete Este es un pueblo pequeño en la parte Oeste de la peninsula de Jandia el cual esta a aproximadamente 8.5km de Morro Jable por una carreta de tierra parcial. A mas o menos 1 kilometro del pueblo puede encontrar La Villa Winter, una mansion construida en el 1940 por el ingeniero aleman Gustav Winter. Se cree la mansion que fue en su momento un escodite nazi. Muchas historias y algunos libros han escrito acerca de ella. Los restos de metralla aun estan en sus paredes y hay evidencia de algunas habitaciones pequeñas donde se dice que se practicaban cirugias esteticas. El edificio con su imponente torre blanca mueve la imaginacion de manera salvajo acerca de la historia de este lugar. Punta Jandia Este es el punto mas Sureño de La Isla de Fuerteventura. Aqui esta el faro mas antiguo de Las Islas Canarias. El faro abrio sus puertas en el 1864. Compuesto por un edifico desgastado de una sola planta construido con piedra volcanica para su torre. El interior ha sido convertido en un centro de interpretacion para la naturaleza en la reserva Jandia. Aqui se muestran animales, vida maritima, geologia volcanica y vegetacion.
Cofete This small village in the Western part of the Jandia Peninsula is approx 8.5km from Morro Jable along a partial dirt track. The views are breathtaking of the 12km long beach which is shielded by the 800 metres high mountain range of Jandia Natural Park. The village consists of a few houses, which in the past were lived in by peasants who survived on fishing, shell fishing, goat farming and the collection of coastal plants to make dyes. About 1km outside the village you will find the Villa Winter, a mansion built in the 1940’s by German engineer Gustav Winter. The mansion has been said to be a possible secret Nazi hideout. Many stories and even books have been written about this, and with the remains of shrapnel embedded in the walls, and evidence of small rooms where plastic surgery has been said to have taken place, the building with its white striking tower, can only help to let your imagination run wild about the history of this place. Punta Jandia This is as far as you can drive in the South of Fuerteventura. It has one of the oldest lighthouses in the Canaries and was opened in 1864, consisting of whitewashed single storey building with dark volcanic rock for the tower. The interior has been converted into an interpretation centre for the Jandia nature reserve, showing animals, maritime life, volcanic geology and vegetation.

Puerto del Rosario Es la capital y alberga más de la mitad de la población de la isla, Puerto del Rosario surgió de raíces muy humildes, marineros y pastores acompañados de sus cabras. Se convirtió en la capital de la isla, en sustitución de Betancuria, en 1860, debido a su posición estratégica como puerto. Originalmente fue conocida como Puerto Cabras. En 1956 su nombre cambió, pasando a llamarse Puerto del Rosario, y desde entonces se ha convertido en una ciudad portuaria de gran importancia comercial. Es el centro administrativo y comercial, Puerto tiene muchas pequeñas tiendas y empresas repartidas por toda la ciudad. Recientes inversiones han transformado su apariencia y el puerto, en particular, es una pintoresca zona en la cual se puede disfrutar de un agradable paseo.

Puerto del Rosario The capital and home to over half the island’s people, Puerto del Rosario has grown from the
very humble roots of a few goat herders’ cottages and sailors´ huts. It became the Island’s capital, replacing Betancuria, in 1860 due to its strategic position. It was originally known as Puerto de las Cabras, meaning port of the goats! In 1956 it was re-named to Puerto del Rosario. As well as the administrative and commercial centre, Puerto has many shops and businesses spread all over the town. Recent investment has transformed its appearance and the harbour, in particular, is a picturesque area that makes for a pleasant walk.

Corralejo es la mayor zona turística de Fuerteventura. Situada en el norte, cuenta con embarcaciones que
comunican Fuerteventura con la isla vecina, Lanzarote. Corralejo, como zona turística, ofrece todos los atractivos que cabría esperar de tal recurso, con una amplia selección de bares y restaurantes para satisfacer todos los gustos. Las opciones de compra son igualmente espléndidas, con una gran variedad de productos locales y productos libres de impuestos. Hay algunos centros comerciales en el pueblo, y tras cada calle hay una sorpresa escondida. La ciudad es engañosamente grande, por lo que hace falta una buena caminata para recorrer la ciudad a fondo. Justo en las afueras de la ciudad encontramos las famosas dunas de arena que fue declarado parque nacional en 1982.

Corralejo is the largest tourist resort in Fuerteventura. Situated in the north, it boasts a Ferry link with the
neighbouring island of Lanzarote. Corralejo provides all of the attractions one would expect from such a resort, with a large selection of restaurants and bars to cater for every taste. The shopping options are equally lavish, with local produce and tax free products in abundance. There are several commercial centres in the town and every back street yields a hidden treasure. The town is deceptively large, so a good walk is required to explore it thoroughly. Just outside the town are the famous sand dunes, which were declared a national park in 1982.

Caleta de Fuste Caleta is one of the primary tourist resorts on the island having grown rapidly over the last

decade. Its central position makes it a natural tourist spot being close to the airport and an ideal base from which to explore the rest of the island. One of the island’s largest shopping centres is situated on the outskirts of Caleta, the Commercial Centre Atlantico. Beyond this are two of Fuerteventura’s four 18 hole golf courses.Adjacent to Caleta is the developing resort of Costa de Antigua. Situated half way up Chipmunk Mountain is the Montecastillo Commercial Centre. The centre is host to a number of shops, bars and restaurants.
