JAMES PETTKE The Junction | Maintenance Submitted by Kathy Pettke, Stone Point

I would like to thank my son James Pettke for his 8 years of service in the Army National Guards. Years of service Feb 2012- Feb 2020. When in basic training, the Drill Sergeants took pictures and would post so family could see what their soldiers were doing during this time and this was one of the photos that was posted. This photo gave us a good laugh when we saw it which made it easier while he was gone from home for the first time.

FEATURED FRED NEWS CELEBRATING WITH LOVED ONES, AT A DISTANCE

We know this year has been especially challenging and the holidays approaching will bring even more challenges for how to celebrate safely with loved ones. Here are a few tips from the CDC website on Thanksgiving gatherings:

LOW RISK

MEDIUM RISK

Having a small dinner with only people who live in your household

Having a small outdoor dinner with family and friends who live in your community

Preparing traditional family recipes for family and neighbors, especially those at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19, and delivering them in a way that doesn’t involve contact with others

Lower your risk by following CDC’s recommendations on hosting gatherings or cook-outs.

Having a virtual dinner and sharing recipes with friends and family Shopping online rather than in person on Black Friday or the next Monday Watching sports events, parades, and movies from home

Visiting pumpkin patches or orchards where people use hand sanitizer before touching pumpkins or picking apples, wearing masks is encouraged or enforced, and people are able to maintain social distancing Attending small outdoor sports events with safety precautions in place

HIGH RISK Avoid these higher risk activities to help prevent the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19:

Going shopping in crowded stores just before, on, or after Thanksgiving Participating or being a spectator at a crowded race Attending crowded parades Using alcohol or drugs, which can cloud judgment and increase risky behaviors Attending large indoor gatherings with people from outside of your household
