PRAYER OF ADORATION

CONGREGATIONAL WORSHIP | Hymn #59 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee

CALL TO CONFESSION

CONFESSING OUR SIN

Generous God, you have given us so much. Give us one more thing. Give us thankful hearts because we know our hearts can be hard and cold. We confess that we often hold on when we should let go. We are clutching when we should be spending, hoarding when we could be generous, doubting when we should lean on faith. We are fearful instead of trusting in your everlasting care.

Loving God, you have given us so much. Give us again the assurance of your love and care, and fill us with grateful hearts and open hands. Give us sound memory, true affection for you and one another, hopeful hearts and high expectations of your plans, purposes, and power. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our savior who gave all.

SILENT CONFESSION

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Leader: Friends, believe the good news!

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

AFFIRMATION AND DEDICATION

DECLARING OUR FAITH | The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

GLORIA PATRI

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM | 11:00 AM

Edward Allen Bartolomei III and Ava Bartolomei, the son and daughter of Elizabeth and Edward Bartolomei Jr., receive the sacrament of baptism.

PROCLAMATION

SCRIPTURE READING | Acts 22: 1-16 (ESV)

“Brothers and fathers, hear the defense that I now make before you.”

2 And when they heard that he was addressing them in the Hebrew language, they became even more quiet. And he said:

3 “I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated at the feet of Gamaliel according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God as all of you are this day. 4 I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering to prison both men and women, 5 as the high priest and the whole council of elders can bear me witness. From them I received letters to the brothers, and I journeyed toward Damascus to take those also who were there and bring them in bonds to Jerusalem to be punished.

6 “As I was on my way and drew near to Damascus, about noon a great light from heaven suddenly shone around me. 7 And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ 8 And I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And he said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.’ 9 Now those who were with me saw the light but did not understand the voice of the one who was speaking to me. 10 And I said, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ And the Lord said to me, ‘Rise, and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all that is appointed for you to do.’ 11 And since I could not see because of the brightness of that light, I was led by the hand by those who were with me, and came into Damascus.

12 “And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there, 13 came to me, and standing by me said to me, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight.’ And at that very hour I received my sight and saw him. 14 And he said, ‘The God of our fathers appointed you to know his will, to see the Righteous One and to hear a voice from his mouth; 15 for you will be a witness for him to everyone of what you have seen and heard. 16 And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’

SERMON | Along the Way: Stewarding our Testimony Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller

(service continues next page)

CALL TO COMMITMENT

PRAYER FOR STEWARDSHIP ENDING WITH THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

SERVICE OF DEDICATION AND THE OFFERING OF TITHES AND GIFTS

(While the offering is received, please sign the friendship pad found on the end of the pews and pass it down the row, returning it to its original place. Please take time after the worship service to greet those seated near you.)

During the Offertory, the Minister will invite you to come forward and place your commitment card and offering on the table. As the music plays please come forward down the center aisle with your family and place your cards on the communion table. You may use the commitment card you received in the mail or one provided this morning in the pews or worship bulletin. Even if you are unsure of how to make a specific commitment at this time, you are encouraged to come forward and affirm your pledge to participate in the mission of the church by Loving Jesus Christ , Loving One another, and Loving the City.

OFFERTORY

| The King of Love

The King of love my Shepherd is, whose goodness faileth never; I nothing lack if I am his and He is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow, my ransomed soul He leadeth, And, where the verdant pastures grow, with food celestial feedeth. In death's dark vale I fear no ill with Thee, dear Lord, beside me; Thy rod and staff my comfort still, Thy cross before to guide me.

Thou spreadst a table in my sight; Thy unction grace bestoweth; And oh, what transport of delight from Thy pure chalice floweth!

And so through all the length of days Thy goodness faileth never; Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise within thy house forever.

DOXOLOGY | Old Hundredth

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host: Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
