The Budameru Rivulet, which flows through Vijayawada, plays a crucial role in draining the basin between the Godavari and Krishna Rivers into Kolleru Lake. Historically, this rivulet has been prone to overflowing, leading to the construction of a diversion canal designed to redirect its flow into the Krishna River from Velagaleru village, situated 15 km from the city. However, during the severe rainfall over the last few weeks, in late August 2024, it overflowed like never before and this caused all the measures which have been taken so far, to fail and submerge the city. The Krishna river overflowed because it was already overwhelmed with all the rains it received and also it has received water inflow from Budameru rivulet, which reached an overall total of 35,000 cusecs, which is way more than the capacity of Budameru, 7000 cusecs. This immense volume of water led to extensive flooding in Vijayawada, exacerbated by breaches in the Budameru Rivulet. The floodwaters breached several manmade barriers and inundated areas that had previously been safeguarded by the diversion canal.
August and September have been months of intense rainfall and cloudbursts all over Andhra Pradesh and an unprecedented amount of rainfall was experienced in various areas of Andhra Pradesh. The Places and Cities which are known for their higher temperatures and scarcity of water have experienced huge amount of unexpected rainfall. And the problem with such situations is that those places are almost never equipped with better drainage facilities which causes the cities to get waterlogged and flooded. Such was the situation with several cities in Andhra Pradesh over the last few weeks.
The floods resulted in at least 35 deaths in NTR district and significantly impacted approximately 270,000 people in Vijayawada alone The disaster was characterized by over 29 cm of rainfall in a single day, which overwhelmed the Krishna River and Budameru Rivulet The flooding caused extensive damage to infrastructure, homes, and agricultural land.[2] The extreme rainfall caused catastrophic flooding, severely damaging infrastructure, homes, and agricultural land. The unforeseen incident of flood has highlighted that there are several things that need to be worked upon, in those cities.
The floodwaters inundated residential areas, particularly affecting those built on the Budameru Rivulet's floodplains Encroachment along the rivulet and its floodplains has obstructed natural water flow and flood management, worsening the impact of the floods Due to continuous heavy rainfall, the river saw record inflows, with the Prakasam Barrage discharging a staggering 1 18 million cusecs of water, the highest in its 70-year history. This massive release was necessary as the barrage reached its capacity, and all 70 gates were opened to manage the excess water
A total of almost 6,44,536 people have been affected by the floods To assist those displaced, 190 relief camps have been established, providing shelter for 44,041 individuals. More than 20 drones have been utilized to deliver food and medicines to areas that are inaccessible by traditional means such as boats and helicopters A total of 26 teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and 22 teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed, alongside numerous volunteers and government officials. Five helicopters from the Indian Air Force and Navy have conducted multiple sorties to supply essentials and rescue stranded individuals.
Not only the regions around Vijayawada, the heavy rainfall has affected over ten districts in Andhra Pradesh, with four districts – NTR District, Krishna, Guntur, and Bapatla –being the ones severely affected. In Telangana, five districts have also been affected. According to the National Disaster Management Institute (NDMI) India, 644,536 people have been affected in Andhra Pradesh, while 200,000 people have been impacted in Telangana The death toll stands at 32 in Andhra Pradesh and 23 in Telangana. Relief and restoration efforts are underway by the state government. In Andhra Pradesh, 45,369 displaced people have been relocated to over 170 relief camps, while 4,000 people are sheltered in 80 camps in Telangana.

A2A payments refer to transactions where money is transferred directly from one bank account to another without intermediaries like card networks. This method uses digital tools and dedicated payment rails, often resulting in instant transfers. A2A payments are versatile, supporting peerto-peer (P2P), business-tobusiness (B2B), and person-togovernment (P2G) transactions. They have gained significant traction in person-to-business (P2B) payments, offering a seamless experience in mobile apps, online checkouts, and point-of-sale (POS) terminals.

Despite these successes, A2A payments face challenges in mature markets with deeprooted card cultures, such as Canada, Japan, the U.S., and the U.K. These markets have wellestablished payment systems, and consumer loyalty to card reward programs poses a barrier toA2Aadoption.
The growing interest in A2A payments is mirrored in investment trends Companies like GoCardless and fintech startups such as kevin have raised significant funds to develop and expand A2A payment services. This influx of capital indicates strong market confidence in the potential of A2A payments to capture a larger share of the global payments market

The story of the Paralympic Games began in 1948 at a military hospital to the north of London Neurologist Sir Ludwig Guttmann was trying to find a way to speed up the recovery of his paraplegic patients, all of whom were World War Two veterans He came up with the idea of organising a series of sports competitions to be held at the same time as the Olympic Games in London The prefix “para” in the word Paralympic means “alongside” in Greek The idea is therefore that the Paralympic Games exist alongside the Olympic Games
About 4,400 athletes from across the world will take part in 22 sports cheered on by crowds again after the rescheduled Tokyo Games in 2021 was held behind closed doors. As well as the performances, the competitors will also be aiming to help change attitudes and lead the way in driving social change in France and further afield.
The Paralympics began on 28 August, 2024 with the opening ceremony. For the first time, it will be held outside a stadium and during the ceremony athletes will parade by some of the French capital's most iconic landmarks, located along the route between the Champs-Elysees and the Place de la Concorde. The Games have ended on 8 September, marking the end for 17th Summer Paralympic Games
The games featured in Paralympics 2024 are Blind Football, Boccia, Goalball, Para Archery, Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Para Canoe, Para Cycling Road, Para Cycling Track, Para Equestrian, Para Judo, Para Powerlifting, Para Rowing, Para Swimming, Para Table Tennis, Para Taekwondo, Para Triathlon, Shooting Para Sport, Sitting Volleyball, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Fencing, Wheelchair Rugby and Wheelchair Tennis.
India’s para-athletes delivered a stellar performance at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, marking a new chapter in the nation’s sporting history. With a total of 29 medals, including seven gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze, India secured 18th place among the participating nations. This achievement reflects the progress and determination of the athletes, as well as the support from the government, the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), and the dedicated coaching staff.
India’s para-athletes not only secured medals but also shattered world, Paralympic, and Asian records. Indian archery debutant, the 17-year-old Sheetal Devi, broke the world record by scoring a bulls-eye. She missed the first position with just a point. In athletics, Sumit Antil set a new Paralympic record with a javelin throw of 70.59m, while Sharad Kumar, Dharambir, and Sachin Khilari broke records in high jump, club throw, and shot put, respectively. In shooting, Avani Lekhara surpassed her own Paralympic record in the women’s 10m air rifle SH1 event, securing a new record with a score of 249.7 points.
Team India achieved its best-ever single-day haul at the Paralympics, winning eight medals in Paris— two gold, three silver, and three bronze. This surpassed the previous record set at the Tokyo 2020 Games, where the team secured five medals in a single day. It will be remembered as a Historical day for Indian Paralympics. India’s remarkable performance at the Paris Paralympics is a testament to the grit, determination, and hard work of the athletes and their support systems. With continuous efforts and focused development, the future of India’s para-athletes looks bright, and the country can look forward to more success in the global sporting arena.

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most auspicious festivals celebrated with zeal and fervour It has a social festival for centuries and people gather up to show their enthusiasm towards the celebrations.
It pays homage to Lord Ganesha, also known as Vigneshwara, the one who removes obstacles from your path. There is an interesting mythological story behind the celebrations of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Lord Ganesha is not born out of a womb, rather was made using turmeric by his mother, Goddess Parvati. One day, she goes to bathe and appoints Ganesha as the doorkeeper, and is instructed to not let anyone through When Lord Shiva visits the place, the husband of Parvati and the Father of Ganesha, though he’s not aware of it yet, Ganesha obstructs him and denies entry inside. Enraged by this act, Lord Shiva throws his Trishul (Trident) aiming at Ganesha, after trying to convince him that he’s the husband of the woman inside This decapitates Ganesha’s head, letting out a huge cry, calling Parvati there Parvati, on seeing this act, gets filled with anger and orders Shiva to get him back to life somehow. Seeing this heated argument, Gods descend onto Kailasa, where the act is happening. After a heated debate, it is made clear that getting him back to life is possible with a few conditions
Before the sunset that day, Lord Shiva’s helpers are ordered to bring the head of a baby who is sleeping with its head placed towards north. As the time is running out and they weren’t able to find any baby sleeping with head positioned towards north, they find an elephant satisfying this criterion and get its head
To The festival is celebrated by establishing and worshipping a ganesha deity made with turmeric, clay or such materials for a tenure of one, three, five, nine or eleven days. People also erect huge statues of Ganesha in streets and worship them for days. The beginning of the worship is called pranapratishtha, which is a ritual to invoke life into the idol What follows is termed shhodashopachara, or ways of paying tribute. These include daily prayers in the morning and evening, and offerings of flowers, fruits, incense and sweetmeats, particularly modak, a sugary dumpling considered one of Ganesha's favourite dishes Other observances include the chanting of Vedic hymns and Hindu texts, as well as rituals such as anointing idols with red sandalwood paste.
At the end of the tenure, the statue will be carried over to the nearest water body and is submerged there; it is called Ganesh Visarjan Ganesh Visarjan is done with a heavy heart and teary eyes. Devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha with the Chant ‘Ganpati Bappa Moriya’ which roughly translates to Hail Lord Ganesha. The Visarjan is done with music, dance, dhol, chants and much more and the energy is simply electric. This ritual represents Ganesha's journey back to his celestial abode, Mount Kailas, where his parents, the Hindu deities Shiva and Parvati, live.

The first presidential debate was held between Kamal Harris and Donald Trump on 10-Sep-2024 With less than two months until Election Day and just hours before Alabama starts mailing early ballots on Wednesday, according to an AP report, the debate provided a revealing glimpse into the tumultuous presidential race In their first and possibly only debate before the election, Kamala Harris made a vigorous case against Donald Trump, challenging him on abortion, immigration, Israel-Gaza and Russia-Ukraine wars, and American democracy, indicating their sharply contrasting visions for the country While Trump called Biden-Harris “the worst president, the worst vice president in the history of our country,” Harris said, “And I do believe that the American people know we all have so much more in common than what separates us, and we can chart a new way forward,” Harris said
Donald Trump and Kamala Harris engaged in one of the biggest showdowns in the history of US election history – the debate started with mutual respect and a handshake and soon entered into a phase of anger, aggression and speaking out of turn. In a fiery 90 minutes, Harris frequently rattled the former president with personal attacks that threw him off message and raised the temperature of this highly-anticipated contest Harris tried to strike a tone of moderation and project politics into the future, trying to portray a persona of statesmanship whereas Trump used his narrative to bring back a line of attack he used effectively against Hillary Clinton right years ago. After the debate Donald Trump stated the TV debate with Kamala Harris was the 'best debate he's ever had', adding that he had a "good time doing it"
The pattern for much of this debate was Harris goading her Republican rival into making extended defences of his past conduct and comments He gladly obliged, raising his voice at times and shaking his head Americans should go to a Trump rally, Harris said during an early question about immigration, because they were illuminating. “People start leaving the rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom,” she said. Trump went from there to an extended riff on a debunked report that Haitian immigrants in the town of Springfield, Ohio, were abducting and eating their neighbours’ pets
Trump was often out of control He loudly and repeatedly insisted that a whole host of falsehoods were true. The former president repeated lies about widespread fraud in the 2020 election He parroted a conspiracy theory about immigrants eating pets, and lied about Democrats supporting abortions after babies are born – which is murder, and illegal everywhere. He painted a dire picture of the United States, reminiscent of the “American carnage” he’d warned of when he was inaugurated in 2017.
As the debate ended, Harris got another boost: Musician and pop culture icon Taylor Swift posted on Instagram that she was backing the Democratic ticket. She signed her post “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady” a reference to controversial comments by Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, that have alienated many women Although the winners of debates are not decided based on a single factor, several factors group together to tilt the scale towards Kamala Harris

It’s been over a year since iPhone 15 has been launched, along with a wave of apple new gen products like Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2, Airpods Pro 2 and a lot more. Several of those products have received mixed reviews and the sales didn’t go so well, with several remarks claiming that there are not many upgrades from iPhone 14 or the previous gen products. Apple has struggled with iPhone sales of late, which generate most of the company's revenue. In May, Apple reported a steep quarterly decline in its iPhone sales, marking the biggest drop in iPhone sales since the height of the company's pandemic-fueled production delays.
To battle this situation and boost the sales, apple has been teasing a few things about its apple intelligence to grab ahold of the market and also compete with the other players like Samsung etc in terms of customized AI Recently, Apple has teased quite a big thing; a detailed announcement of the upcoming wave of products: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and a few other products Let’s take a quick look at them
The iPhone 16 is finally here, with Apple having debuted its new base model alongside the iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max at its latest Apple event on September 9. All four devices look set to rank among the best iPhones ever, offering new buttons, redesigned cameras, and Apple Intelligence features that could also make them some of the best AI phones of 2024 (as Tim Cook noted on stage, they're the "first iPhones designed from the ground up for Apple Intelligence").
It has variants that can support up to 512 GB of storage and has a reported 8GB of RAM to power Apple Intelligence. The iPhone 16 will start shipping in September and the Apple Intelligence features will start rolling out in October. The iPhone 16's cameras are aligned vertically for spatial video capture. The iPhone 16 comes in Ultramarine, Teal, Pink, White, and Black colors with iOS 18. The company unveiled its newest - and slimmest – watch in the event, with the biggest display to-date. Apple unveiled new models and promised a more comfortable design for its AirPods: AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with what it calls active noise cancellation. The AirPods Max come in more colors and offer a USB-C charging outlet. It's the rollout out of the AirPods Pro 2 ($249) that offer a heavy promise to users: the first "end-to-end hearing health experience." The company says that means they offer hearing protection, a hearing test and hearing aid feature. But the hearing test and hearing aid features are still awaiting authorization from global health authorities. Let’s wait and watch.
iPhone 16 will inherit the action button from iPhone 15 Pro and also gets a new dedicated camera control button, which allows the user to control zoom functionality, focus and a lot more. Apple says that it will allow users a oneclick option to open the camera, take a photo, and start recording. By clicking and holding the camera button, users can take a photo of a restaurant and get info or point the camera at a dog to learn its breed, Apple said. It uses the latest A18 chipset. The 16 Pro also allows for videos to be recorded in 4K resolution at 120 frames per second and for better audio recording capabilities, the company said. Siri and Writing Tools will use the AI features, which are integrated with ChatGPT - giving users the ability to rewrite, fix grammar and summarize texts, notes and emails, Apple said.
The AI tools allow for people to create their own AI images, alter old photos or search for a hard-to-find image in an album by typing a description.
