Step 1: Plan Your Design
Choose a planter style that suits your space, such as a rectangular, vertical, or tiered design. Consider the plants you want to grow—herbs, flowers, or succulents—and design accordingly. Ensure the planter fits well in your home.
Step 2: Gather Materials
For a basic rectangular planter, you’ll need:
Wooden planks (cedar or pine)
Nails or screws
Wood glue
Sandpaper
Drill and saw
Measuring tape
Paint or wood sealant (optional)
Plastic sheeting for a liner
For a vertical or tiered design, you may need brackets or small planters.
Step 3: Measure and Cut
Measure the dimensions of your planter and cut the wood pieces to size, sanding down any rough edges.

French Dip Sandwich
Ingredients
3 boneless ribeye steaks (about 3 pounds)
1 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1 Tbsp. kosher salt
2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
2 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. dried ground sage
For jus
1/4 yellow onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp. minced fresh thyme
1 1/2 cups low-sodium beef broth
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
For serving
6 hoagie rolls
12 slices provolone
Directions
Step 1: Preheat oven to 450°. Rub beef all over with olive oil and place in roasting pan. In a small bowl, stir together salt, pepper, oregano, and sage. Rub spice mix all over beef. Roast for 20 minutes or until a meat thermometer registers 125° in the thickest part of the ribeye. Set aside on a cutting board to rest and turn oven down to 350°.
Garlic Butter Shrimp & Asparagus
Ingredients
2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, divided
2 bunches asparagus (about 1 1/2 lb. total), tough ends
trimmed
Kosher salt
6 Tbsp. unsalted butter
5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 tsp. onion powder
Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
Step 2: Meanwhile, make Au jus: Place roasting pan (with beef drippings) over stove top burner and turn to medium heat. Add onion and cook until soft, 3 minutes. Add garlic and thyme and cook until fragrant, 1 minute longer. Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce and bring up to a simmer. Cook until thickened slightly, 8 to 10 minutes more.
Step 3: When ready to serve, thinly slice beef. Fill each roll with beef and top with provolone. Arrange sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake until cheese is melty, 10 minutes.
Step 4: Serve with Au jus on the side for dipping.

Step 1: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat 1 tablespoon oil. Add asparagus; season with 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until asparagus are tender but still crisp, 8 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
Step 2: In same skillet over medium heat, cook butter, garlic, onion powder, red pepper, and remaining 1 tablespoon oil until butter is melted. Add shrimp; season with 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cook until shrimp are pink and cooked through, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Remove from heat and stir in asparagus. Add lemon zest, lemon juice, and parsley and toss to combine.
