COMPETENCY PATHWAY

Qualifications Experience Pre Learning

CompEx Gas & Vapours (Ex01-04)

5 DAY COURSE

This five-day course provides candidates with the relevant training and practical assessments on the installation, maintenance and inspection of electrical and instrumental systems in a flammable gas, vapour or mist environment.

This qualification is suitable for practicing electrical or instrument technicians who are involved in installing, inspecting and maintaining certified Ex electrical equipment in locations where gases and vapours can potentially create a hazardous area.

CompEx Mechanical (Ex11)

3 DAY COURSE

This three-day course determines the core competency of Mechanical Practitioners (Technicians & Engineers) working in explosive atmospheres.

This qualification is suitable for practicing mechanical operatives who are involved in installing, inspecting and maintaining non-electrical (mechanical) equipment in locations where gases, vapours and/or dusts can potentially create a hazardous area.

CompEx Recognised Practitioners Programme (Ex01R-04R)

5 DAY COURSE

All CompEx certified practitioners are required to recertify every 5 years.

This 2-3 day course is suitable for practicing electrical or instrument technicians who are involved in installing, inspecting, and maintaining certified Ex electrical equipment in locations where gases and vapours can potentially create a hazardous area.

CompEx DUST (Ex05-06)

3 DAY COURSE

CompEx 05-06 provides individual candidates with the relevant training and practical assessments on the installation, maintenance and inspection of electrical and instrumental systems in an environment where combustible dust may be present.

This three-day course is suitable for electrotechnical personnel who work on the physical installation and assembly of new ‘Ex’ equipment and perform preventative maintenance and inspections on previously installed equipment in hazardous dust atmospheres.

COURSES

CompEx Design (Ex12)

5 DAY COURSE

Competency Certificate for professional Application Design Engineers and Project Engineers who understands the risks associated with the correct design and selection of electrical installations for use in explosive atmospheres.

This qualification is suitable for aspiring or practising Application Design Engineers who have experience of selecting Ex certified electrical equipment for installations in locations where there is potential for explosive atmospheres to exist.

CompEx Responsible Person (Ex14)

5 DAY COURSE

The CompEx EX14 aims to assist Responsible Persons to meet their legal obligations with regard to maintaining an asset register and implementing a practical approach to the inspection and maintenance of equipment in explosive atmospheres utilising IEC 60079 Parts 14 & 17 and offering the basis of best practice in this regard.

This five-day course is suitable for those in managerial or supervisory roles who are directly responsible for the management of staff (including sub-contractors), processes and procedures relating to explosive atmospheres, such as equipment, protective systems and installations.

The CompEx Foundation qualification has been designed to provide an introduction into potentially explosive or flammable environments where gases, vapours and dust can form a hazardous atmosphere.

This qualification is suitable for personnel who require an understanding of basic Ex principles, and recently qualified electrical technicians who wish to develop their knowledge before undertaking more technical CompEx qualifications.

CompEx Foundation (ExF)

CompEx Water Utilities Ex09-Ex10

5 DAY COURSE

The CompEx Ex09-10 Water Utilities Qualification has been developed for electrical and instrument operatives working in water supply wastewater and water treatment sectors where vapours and gases can potentially create a hazardous environment.

This five-day course is suitable for workers who operate in the water utilities industry, particularly in intake and storage areas of wastewater treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, wastewater pumping stations, wet wells and gravity fed sewers where there is a risk of explosion.

CompEx Foundation (ExF) PLUS

2 DAY COURSE

CompEx Foundation PLUS is an extension of the CompEx Foundation course, incorporating additional practical training and assessments. As part of the national scheme focusing on training and certifying core competencies for individuals working with equipment in explosive atmospheres, this course sets a target for employees, recognised by the self-regulated sector as vital for Personnel Competency.

This qualification is suitable for electrical or instrumentation technicians who are new to working in hazardous areas, trainees, and recently qualified technicians who wish to develop their knowledge of working safely in hazardous areas.

With its practical element, the CompEx Foundation Plus qualification is ideal for those considering the Ex01-Ex04 Gas and Vapours qualification, which includes a number of practical assessments.
