Our Renewable and Energy Efficiency Training Centre offers a wide range of short courses focused on sustainability and energy efficiency.
We provide essential training in the installation and maintenance of energy-saving systems – skills that are increasingly vital as Scotland moves towards its net-zero target.
Our training centre – which was funded by SP Energy Networks through their Green Economy Fund and is also supported by the Energy Skills Partnership – houses state-of-the-art equipment including:

COURSES
Water Byelaws/Water Regulations
This course covers the Water Byelaws 2014 (Scotland) and Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 (England & Wales). Meets WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) requirements.
Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems (Unvented)
This course is for plumbers and heating engineers aiming to install vented and unvented domestic hot water storage systems in compliance with Building Regulations.
Domestic Air Source and Ground Source Heat Pumps
This course prepares plumbers and heating engineers to install heat pumps while complying with Building Regulations. Recognised by the BPEC Heat Pump Systems programme for MCS certification.
Solar Photovoltaic Systems (NOS Mapped)
This course provides electricians with the skills to install small-scale PV systems. Structured to meet National Occupational Standards and recognised for MCS certification.
Rainwater Harvesting & Greywater Recycling
This course is designed for building services engineers and plumbers looking to install, commission, and maintain common rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling systems.
Awareness of Environmental Technologies
This course provides an introduction to renewable energy technologies, ideal for householders, housing associations, teachers, building control officers, housing developers, and installers.
Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS)
This course meets requirements for installing electrical energy storage systems in line with the IET Code of Practice and MCS Battery Standard MIS 3012.
BPEC Legionella Risk Assessments & Water System Disinfection
This one-day course provides guidance on Legionella risk assessments, in compliance with the Approved Code of Practice (ACOP).
Solar Thermal Hot Water
This course is a key requirement for solar hot water thermal installers, meeting Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) standards.
