1.Environmental Protection: Ensuring you pick up after your pets prevents storm water pollution, safeguarding our environment and water quality.
2.Ecosystem Balance: Proper cleanup maintains the delicate balance of aquatic ecosystems by reducing excess nitrogen from animal waste.
3.Pest Control: Regular pet waste cleanup minimizes the attraction of flies and pests, keeping communal areas clean and pest-free.
4.Public Health: Removing pet waste helps prevent the spread of harmful bacteria and microorganisms, protecting the well-being of both humans and animals.
5.Community Respect: Cleaning up after your pet demonstrates respect for your neighbors and enhances the overall cleanliness of the neighborhood.
6.Personal Image: Neglecting pet waste cleanup can reflect poorly on your image, making you appear irresponsible and inconsiderate within the community.
7.Convenience: Carrying plastic baggies ensures a hassle-free cleanup process, contributing to a cleaner and more pleasant neighborhood for everyone.
8.Clean Footwear: Nobody enjoys accidentally stepping in pet waste, which can then be tracked into homes, cars, and businesses. Let's face it – nobody wants to deal with the hassle of cleaning poop off their shoes!
In conclusion, responsible pet waste cleanup is not only an environmental and health necessity but also a matter of community pride and personal image. By taking the simple step of picking up after our pets, we can collectively protect our environment, maintain ecosystem balance, and create a cleaner, healthier, and more respectful neighborhood for all to enjoy. So, let's do our part and keep our neighborhoods pristine by being responsible pet owners, all while ensuring our footwear stays clean and poop-free.

With the arrival of fall, the picturesque Apple Hill Grower farms are awash with pumpkins, offering the perfect destination for families seeking the quintessential Jack-o-Lantern or the ideal gourd for their favorite seasonal recipes. These farms not only provide the opportunity to handpick your pumpkins but also offer an array of seasonal delights, including fresh produce, delectable baked goods, and exquisite wines and ciders.
This October, six farms are inviting visitors to experience the joy of pumpkin picking:
Sloan Winters Mountain Orchard and Garden, 24Carrot Farm, O’Halloran’s Apple Trail Ranch, Goodness Orchard (please call for an appointment), Delfino Corn Maze and U-Pick Pumpkins, Harris Family Farm
Additionally, several other farms in the region have charming pumpkin patches for you to explore, including Abel’s Apple Acres, Apple Ridge Farms, High Hill Ranch, Hidden Star Camino, and Pine-OMine.
But the allure of Apple Hill extends beyond pumpkins. This scenic foothill region is a treasure trove of fall delights, with apples and pears still being harvested. Local bake shops entice visitors with mouthwatering pies and baked goods, while tasting rooms pour delightful wine flights. As you explore these farms, the backdrop of crimson and orange orchards and golden vineyards provides the perfect setting for your holiday photos.
To ensure you have the best experience, it's advisable to make reservations or check for strong recommendations at all the participating farms. The Apple Hill Growers are dedicated to the safety
of their guests and employees, so don't forget to bring your mask and limit your group to household members only.
For those in the know, November holds a well-kept secret—a splendid time for a visit to Apple Hill Grower Farms. It's an ideal moment to stock up on holiday pies and savor the full splendor of fall, including the breathtaking autumn colors, particularly during the first two weeks of November. Picture the hillsides adorned in various shades of red, orange, and gold. With thinner crowds and crisp days, it's the perfect opportunity to relish a hot apple cider or indulge in a warm donut while surrounded by the wonders of the season.
Ingredients:
3.5 c Flour
3 c Sugar
1.5 tsp Cinnamon
.5 tsp Nutmeg
1.5 tsp Salt
2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Baking Powder
4 Eggs
1 c vegetable or canola oil
¾ c Water
1- 15oz can of Pumpkin Puree
1 c small, chopped Walnuts
(optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees for 60-70 min. Arrange oven rack to middle of oven Sift together the dry ingredients. Cream Sugar, eggs, oil and pumpkin. Mix together with flour mixture, alternating with water and add walnuts if you are adding them. You can also sprinkle the nuts on top if you don’t want them in the bread. Don’t over mix.
Fill two prepared large loaf pans (buttered and dusted with flour). If you have a scale, these should measure at approx. 38-40 ounces each. Place on top of a baking sheet and bake both loafs together. Bake for the full 60-70 Minutes. 70 minutes will ensure the bread is not doughy. Some people like it doughy, if so, pull out at 60 minutes. You can use a meat thermometer to check temp at 195. Pull it from oven and let cool completely on rack. Enjoy and Happy Fall.
Jenny AntolinFrom beautifying Mangini Ranch Elementary to sorting tons of food donations for the Twin Lakes Food Bank, these volunteers made a real difference in their community.
One of the things that makes Community Service Day so special is that it's open to everyone, regardless of age or skill level. All you need is a willingness to get your hands dirty and a desire to make a positive impact. This year, volunteers of all ages came out to help, and it was truly heartwarming to see the community come together in such a meaningful way.
Another great thing about Community Service Day is that it's a reminder of the power of collaboration. When we work together, we can achieve great things. This year's volunteers proved that beyond a doubt, as they accomplished so much in just one day.
Here's a look at just a few of the projects that volunteers worked on during Community Service Day:
• Beautifying Mangini Ranch Elementary
• Sorting food donations for the Twin Lakes Food Bank
• Cleaning up parks and trails
• Repairing fences and playgrounds
• Planting trees and flowers
• Volunteering at local nonprofits
These projects not only improved the appearance of Folsom, but they also made the community a better place to live and work. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, Folsom is a stronger and more vibrant city than ever before.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in Community Service Day! You made a real difference.
Folsom's 10th annual Community Service Day was a huge success, with over 2,000 volunteers coming together to complete over 100 different projects across the city.
The Ganesha festival, also known as Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chaturthi, is a significant Hindu festival celebrated in India and by Hindus around the world. It typically falls in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada, which usually falls in August or September, and lasts between 3 to 11 days, culminating in the immersion of Ganesha idols in water bodies. The festival holds great cultural, religious, and social significance:
Ganesha is one of the most widely revered deities in Hinduism and is often regarded as the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom, intellect, and new beginnings. The festival is primarily a celebration of his birth. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor. It includes cultural events, music, dance, processions, and public gatherings.
Devotees perform pujas (rituals), offer prayers, and make offerings to Lord Ganesha during the festival. The culmination
of the festival involves the immersion of Ganesha idols in rivers, lakes, or the sea, symbolizing the cycle of creation and dissolution. The festival fosters a sense of community and togetherness. Neighbors, friends, and family members come together to celebrate and share in the joy of the occasion.
Overall, Ganesh Chaturthi is not only a religious festival but also a celebration of culture, art, unity, and the values associated with Lord Ganesha, making it one of the most significant and widely celebrated festivals in India and by Hindus around the world. Folsom Ranch celebrated Ganesha festival of 2023 with great reverence and participation from people belonging to various faiths, religions and ethnicities demonstrating the unity in diversity of Folsom Ranch Area.
In a city blossoming with culinary diversity, a delightful addition has recently made its way onto the food scene. Nestled near old Folsom, 'Curry Pizza House’ has captured the hearts and palates of locals with its innovative twist on two beloved cuisines – Indian and Italian.
'Curry Pizza House’ seamlessly combines the rich, aromatic flavors of Indian cuisine with the comforting and familiar appeal of pizzas. The result? A delicious fusion that will tantalize your taste buds and transport you to the streets of Mumbai.
With an impressive array of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, there's something to satisfy every palate. Here are 3 of our fan favorites:
1. Chicken Tikka Pizza: This crowd-pleaser is a delectable marriage of tender chunks of chicken simmered in creamy, white garlic sauce, and a crispy pizza crust. Topped with a drizzle of fragrant cilantro.
2. Malai Paneer Pizza: For the vegetarians, the Malai Paneer Pizza is a must-try. It features marinated and grilled cubes of Masala paneer cheese, veggies, and a smattering of spices that dance on your tongue.
3. Tandoori Chicken Pizza: This pizza captures the essence of a tandoori oven, with succulent tandoori chicken and veggies generously spread over a white garlic sauce. Each bite carries the smoky, charred flavor that's synonymous with tandoori dishes.
'Curry Pizza House’ is not just a restaurant; it's an adventure for your taste buds. Whether you're a devoted fan of Indian cuisine or a die-hard pizza lover, this place offers a culinary journey that's well worth taking. So, gather your friends and family, head down to 'Curry Pizza House,' and savor the fusion flavors taking our city by storm. Your taste buds will thank you for it, and you might just discover your new favorite dish in town!
Among several cuisines and the various restaurants in Folsom and surrounding areas, Indian and Thai food contributes to the higher options of spicy food. Both in terms of spices and food being hot, Indian food always is on the leader board.
A hot Mexican salsa here and sriracha sauce there is ADDED to make food spicy and hot but both Indian food is cooked with spices, so they are absorbed better.
Between Indian and Thai, while both are cooked, and food is made spicy, Indian food is spicier and hot. Thai food can be medium hot, but the intensity can be increased simply by adding cut green chilies or crushed red peppers. While this makes it feel hot, it doesn't enhance the taste. However, Indian food is cooked with the required chilies and spices making it all get absorbed and kick up multiple notches of spiciness.
Among options, the following are popular and favorites of many food lovers.
Chicken tikka masala at Sanskrit
Chana masala at Mantra
Daabeli at Chaat Paradise
Red Curry with vegetables at Folsom Thai.
Many dishes at Red Hot Chili Pepper are hot - as the name of the restaurant suggests.
Many others can be listed, and most dishes can be made hot or hotter but in general, these are some favorites based on consumer choices at these restaurants.
Suman Nagarkar, an actor, a chef, and a marathoner says home-cooked Indian food can be the spiciest since it is more custom, and restaurants don’t make it very spicy so they can cater to the 80% of customers that prefer it to be non-spicy. Southern Indian cooking uses more spices and food is generally hot and spicythe different chutneys from the Andra/Rayalseema areas are classic examples.
When we moved to Folsom, our goal was to embrace the Folsom lifestyle, which revolves around outdoor enjoyment with friends and family. Our backyard's design wasn't meticulously planned; we simply had a vision: a pool and a spacious covered patio. We started with the patio upon moving in, then waited over a year to begin pool construction. Looking back, we should have accepted a temporary dirt yard, prioritized the pool, and then proceeded with patio, retaining wall, cover, and tree planting.
Transforming our yard from a bare lot into an outdoor haven was a challenge due to the region's heavy clay soil laden with Sierra Nevada blue granite. During pool excavation, we hit a granite vein, causing some noise – apologies to the neighbors. After the pool, we faced another hurdle: unsuitable soil for many trees/ plants. While we loved arborvitaes, they struggled in the sun and poor soil. Some plants failed, but we found success with creeping rosemary, lavender, and red tip photinias, providing green ground cover and quick privacy.
For those considering pool construction, we highly recommend Premier Pools and Spa. They were exceptional collaborators.
Petkus Brothers, who handled our patio cover, also deserve praise for arranging concrete work, extending the driveway, and building a retaining wall.
In the end, our journey to create a backyard oasis in Folsom was filled with challenges, but it's now a place we cherish for outdoor gatherings.
Our goal was to embrace the Folsom lifestyle, which revolves around outdoor enjoyment with friends and family.

Sedat and Sezy met in a small vacation town near the border of Greece and Turkey while they were attending college. At the time, Sedat was finishing law school while Sezy was interning in Istanbul at the Children’s Hospital during her summer break. Sedat was playing guitar on stage with his band and invited Sezy to have a drink after the show, and the rest became history. After being in a long-distance relationship for three years, Sedat left his law career to be with Sezy and pursue a new career in music.
Although Sezy was born and raised in Turkey, she moved to the United States as a 10-year-old and spent most of her life in South Bay before relocating to Folsom Ranch. The pandemic provided the perfect opportunity for them to make the move, although they had been contemplating it for a year prior. They are now proud parents of two children, Atlas (6) and Melodi (2), and share their home with three fur babies: Nala, Tahoe, and Rio. Tahoe, in particular, has made a cameo appearance eating an In-N-Out burger in previous Folsom Ranch Living magazine issues.
Sedat is passionate about playing soccer and basketball, and you'll often find him with a musical instrument or a freshly brewed cup of tea in his hand. He's skilled with a variety of instruments, from trumpets to banjos. Sezy, on the other hand, formerly worked as a scientific researcher at Stanford but now enjoys embracing the role of a full-time mom to their two children. In her spare time, she can be found engrossed in a book, indulging in painting, or embarking on outdoor adventures with her family, as they share a deep love for the great outdoors and frequently enjoy family outings.
Their community in Folsom Ranch stands out as a unique and close-knit one. They appreciate the helpful and genuine nature of their neighbors and friends, and they believe it's a place many can only dream of living in. Sedat and Sezy express their gratitude for the incredible neighbors and friends who make up their community and for the opportunity to share their story with everyone.
The city is hoping that both East Bidwell and Alder Creek Rd be open in the next 2 months.
Everything East of E. Bidwell should be wrapping up until the phase 2 water main is installed in a couple of years. Many new roads are being constructed West of E. Bidwell.
The next exciting new project that is in the approval process is the Adler Creek Marketplace.
