INTO 4 OF JULY WITH ANOTHER AMAZING BIKE PARADE! TH

This year’s 3rd Annual Folsom Ranch 4th of July Bike Parade was one for the books! Our neighborhood came alive with red, white, and blue as families of all ages decorated bikes, scooters, wagons, strollers, and even themselves in patriotic flair.

We gathered on a sunny Independence Day morning at Prospector Park, where excitement and community pride filled the air. The parade route stretched just around two miles, giving everyone a chance to show off their festive spirit. From glittering streamers and star-spangled helmets to wagons decked out like mini floats, creativity was everywhere you looked.

Events like this don’t just happen — the incredible support of our community powers them. We want to give a huge thank you to this year’s sponsors:

Scott The Home Loan Guy –Always riding strong for Folsom Ranch!

Ahrash Zamanian, the King of Folsom Ranch with EXP Realty –Making sure our community stays vibrant and connected.

Beacon Church – Keeping us cool and energized with delicious, iced coffee for parade participants and spectators.

Of course, the most enormous thank you goes to our amazing neighbors for showing up with smiles, laughter, and a sense of togetherness that makes Folsom Ranch so special.

As the parade came to a close, kids zoomed around the park, parents mingled, and we were all reminded of what makes living here so great — we’re more than a neighborhood, we’re a community.

Here’s to keeping this tradition rolling for years to come. Until next year — keep those wheels turning and the red, white, and blue spirit alive!

Folsom Ranch’s Wellbeing Warriors

Stories of Strength & Inspiration

Folsom Ranch is home to some truly inspiring women who remind us that no matter how busy life gets, there’s always a way to care for ourselves. The Friends for Strength workout group is a shining example—bringing women together for energizing workouts, scenic hikes, and the kind of friendships that make you stronger inside and out.

Take Deepika, a mom who refused to let childcare challenges get in the way. When babysitting fell through, she brought her kids along—books in hand—so she could keep moving. Not only is she getting fit, she’s showing her children what it means to make health a priority.

One member faced year-long back pain and diastasis recti. When in-person classes didn’t work with her schedule, she switched to online workouts and watched her separation improve from four inches to two.

Veena juggles a full-time career and two little ones, yet still makes time for exercise—often with her youngest joining in.

For Shivani, allergies during fitness classes were a hurdle. Instead of giving up, she tried working out at home and discovered her symptoms disappeared.

Moms Pranitha and Ginni both felt they’d lost themselves after childbirth. For Pranitha, even carrying her toddler was painful. Regular workouts restored her strength, flexibility, and energy, helping her feel like herself again.

These women aren’t just exercising—they’re building a community. They share tips, celebrate wins, and lift each other up. They face challenges, have off days, and still come back stronger.

Their stories are proof: whatever obstacles you face, you can find your own path to wellness. Here’s to the amazing women of Folsom Ranch—true Wellbeing Warriors!

As an existing or new homeowner, you are probably aware of the Northern California insurance marketplace being in a state of crisis. With wildfire risk, insurer withdrawals and regulatory changes, the cost has become prohibitive. If you have a mortgage on your house as most do, it is required. With the limited marketplace many have been required to turn to the California FAIR Plan, the state's insurer of last resort. With the recent losses in Southern California, the FAIR Plan is under financial strain which further complicates the issue.

Where does this leave us? Recent reforms withing the California Department of Insurance have allowed for catastrophic modeling and reinsurance cost adjustments in ratemaking to encourage insurers to expand coverage options. This will not be an immediate fix. Dring this current insurance environment it is important to find a good local agent who has your best interests in mind and is familiar with your zip code. It is also key to get quotes with adequate time before renewal or the purchase of a home. Now, allowing at least fifteen days for an agent to obtain options is appropriate. Now more than ever it also is advantageous to bundle your home and autos, if possible, to obtain the greatest discounts.

The Dental Hygienist’s Guide to Lifelong Oral Health

Why Oral Health Matters More Than You Think

When people think of going to the dentist, the first images that pop into their heads are usually drills, x-rays, or maybe the hum of the ultrasonic scaler. But behind every healthy smile is a team effort— and as a dental hygienist, I can confidently say that oral health is so much more than just clean teeth. It’s about overall well-being, confidence, prevention, and longevity. Your mouth is a window to your body’s health, and maintaining it should be a priority—not an afterthought.

Oral health plays a critical role in your total health. Studies link gum disease to systemic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, respiratory infections, and even Alzheimer’s. Inflammation in the mouth can signal broader issues—or contribute to them. Harmful bacteria from poor hygiene can enter the bloodstream through bleeding gums, triggering inflammation elsewhere.

What happens in your mouth doesn’t stay in your mouth.

The Role of a Dental Hygienist

Dental hygienists are prevention specialists— not just “teeth cleaners.” We assess gum health, screen for oral cancer, apply sealants and fluoride, educate patients, and serve as the front line against periodontal disease. During appointments, we look for signs of bone loss, gum recession, plaque buildup, and tissue changes that could indicate something serious. Early detection can prevent months of treatment—or even surgery.

The Emotional Impact of Oral Health

Let’s not forget the emotional and social aspects of a healthy smile. Your mouth is central to communication, eating, and expressing emotions. When someone is selfconscious about their teeth, it can impact their self-esteem, job opportunities, relationships, and mental health.

As hygienists, we’ve seen transformations— patients who go from hiding their smiles to radiating confidence after getting their oral health on track. That’s the power of prevention and proper care.

Final Thoughts: It’s a Partnership

Oral health is a partnership between you and your dental team. As a dental hygienist, my goal is not to lecture, but to empower. We’re here to support, educate, and guide you to make choices that keep your mouth—and your body—healthy.

So, the next time you brush or floss, remember: you’re not just cleaning your teeth. You’re investing in your health, your future, and your smile. And that’s always worth it.

Franklin THE FAMILY

Finding Home in Folsom Ranch

After living all over California—from the coastal charm of Benicia to the bustle of Pasadena and the serenity of Lake Tahoe— George found something different when he moved to Folsom Ranch: peace. Fresh off a deployment and settling in from Midtown Sacramento, he describes the neighborhood as “welcoming, safe, and full of potential.” For George, it wasn’t just a change of address—it was a reset.

What makes Folsom Ranch feel like home?

“Honestly, I just feel safe here,” George says. Whether it’s chatting with neighbors at the gym, teeing off at Empire Ranch Golf Course, or winding down with a backyard BBQ, the sense of community is unmistakable. “We watch out for each other,” he adds, “and that kind of vibe makes a big difference.”

Weekends are a mix of leisure and adventure. George is a regular at Empire Ranch, but he also enjoys the energy of Old Folsom—dinner, drinks, and the occasional trivia night. When he’s in the mood to move, the scenic hills around Folsom Ranch offer the perfect jogging route.

Living near his parents has brought unexpected joy. “I thought I’d be getting more home-cooked meals,” he laughs, “but I’ve ended up smoking meats and barbecuing for them almost weekly.” The proximity has deepened their bond in ways he didn’t anticipate.

And one of the biggest surprises? Tahoe. “I didn’t realize how close we are until this past winter,” George says. Whether it’s skiing, hiking, or just relaxing by the lake, it’s become a go-to escape—no vacation planning required.

From the quiet streets to the lively weekends, George’s story is a reminder that sometimes the best places to live are the ones that feel like a true beginning.

Active, Inspired, and Thriving

After two decades in Vallejo’s scenic Hiddenbrooke community, George and Carla made the leap to Regency in Folsom—and discovered a lifestyle that’s anything but quiet. “We were part of a lovely gated golf course neighborhood,” Carla recalls, “with great neighbors, walking trails, and easy access to the Bay Area and Wine Country.” But Regency offered something new: a dynamic 55+ community brimming with energy, connection, and opportunity.

Their days now are a blend of movement, mindfulness, and meaningful connection. George starts his mornings with a pre-dawn bike ride through neighborhood trails, followed by yard work, stretching, weights at the clubhouse, and a well-earned smoothie. Carla, meanwhile, begins with a grounding walk through nature, then dives into sorority activities, journaling, and daily chats with friends and family. Together, they enjoy Tai Chi, line dancing, painting, and even ABC—Abs, Balance, and Core.

Weekends often include scenic drives around Folsom Lake, poolside relaxation, or browsing the Palladio’s outdoor shops and bustling Farmer’s Market. Summer concerts and local excursions add a festive touch to their calendar, while visits to Lake Tahoe—whether for a day or overnight—remain a favorite escape. Community connection is at the heart of their experience. “We’ve met so many wonderful people,” George says, citing events like the New Year’s Party, Taste of Regency, and even an Elvis show. Their street feels like home, and the social calendar keeps friendships blooming.

What surprises people most about life in a 55+ community? “The friendliness,” Carla says without hesitation. “And the sheer variety of activities—from pickleball and bocce to arts, crafts, and fitness classes. There’s truly something for everyone.”

From early morning bike rides to evening concerts, George and Carla’s story is a testament to the joy of embracing a new chapter—and making the most of every moment.

Close Enough to Share, Far Enough to Grow

For George and his parents, George and Carla, living just 1.5 miles apart in Folsom Ranch has created a rare kind of harmony—one that blends connection, independence, and a whole lot of shared joy. With George settled in the Canterly neighborhood and his parents thriving in Regency, the proximity allows for frequent visits, spontaneous hangouts, and the kind of support that only family can offer.

“It’s the best of both worlds,” Carla says. “We see each other often, help out when needed, and enjoy time with Georgie and his friends. It’s also made it easier for our younger son, Justin, who lives in New York, to visit—thanks to how close we are to the Sacramento Airport.”

New traditions are already taking root. Weekly dinners at George’s house have become a highlight, with everyone contributing to a potluck-style meal that brings friends and

family together. George and Carla often find themselves walking or biking past their son’s home on the neighborhood trails, turning everyday routines into moments of connection.

When asked what “home” means in Folsom Ranch, the family lights up. “It’s the diversity, the kindness, the parks, and the welcoming vibe,” George says. Carla adds, “We just discovered a new park yesterday! The community is so active and friendly—it makes you want to invite everyone to visit.”

Looking ahead, the family is excited about Folsom Ranch’s future: new medical centers, a Safeway town center, expanded parks, and even a train line that will connect to a vibrant new downtown. The promise of a local “Santana Row” adds to the buzz.

And if they had to sum up this chapter of life? It’s all about: More time spent with family, optimism for the future, continued participation in community activities, a healthy lifestyle, and making deep friendships.

For George and his parents, Folsom Ranch isn’t just a place to live—it’s a place to thrive, together.

SUMMER, SUMMER, TIME

How we’re beating the heat at Folsom Ranch

A LETTER FROM SARAH AQUINO

Mayor of Folsom

Hello! Happy August! While I hope your summer has been full of rest and relaxation, city staff and I have been working hard to deliver more services and amenities to enhance the quality of life in Folsom Ranch.

The Folsom Police Department has opened a records counter inside Fire Station 34. The counter is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 8am to noon. We hope this will be a convenient resource for residents looking for copies of police reports, collision reports, etc.

The Mangini Ranch Trails project is moving forward! A contractor has been selected and construction will begin very soon on 2.5 miles of new Class I trails. We will be looking for residents to adopt these new trail sections to keep them free of litter and to report any major issues to city staff. If you'd like to learn more about the Adopt-A-Trail program, please visit www.folsom.ea.us/government/parksrecreation/parks-trails-and-open-space/trails

I'm currently working with city staff to identify a location for a cardboard recycling dumpster south of 50. In the meantime, please make sure cardboard boxes are broken down completely and fit inside your blue recycling can with the lid closed. Cardboard may also be recycled at the Andy Morin Sports Complex, Folsom Middle School, or City Hall.

And, finally, fall is a great time to spruce up your yard. Well-maintained homes and yards make our community more desirable and result in increased property values. We are planning a front yard beautification day for Monday, September 1 from 9am til noon. (That's Labor Day so there is no school.) If your yard needs some attention, please plan to participate. I'd be happy to come by and help you pull a few weeds!

I'm honored to serve as your representative on the city council. Please feel free to contact me anytime with your comments, questions, and concerns. You may reach me on my cell phone at (916)798-5380 or via email at saquino@folsom.ca.us.
