escribe how you got started in your business? Mark Snell & Peter Egan Painting Professionals Pty Ltd has been in business for the past three and a half years. Prior to this we have both had many years’ experience in the painting trade. Mark Snell had Coffs City Painting Professionals for 15 years, a well established business servicing the Coffs Coast, until he sold and moved interstate. Mark returned to his home-town of Sawtell in 2014. Peter Egan completed his apprenticeship with Mark at Coffs City Painting back in 2004; he then travelled and painted around Australia, before moving to Urunga. It was winning combination; we reconnected when we both came back to the Coffs Coast and decided once again to join forces to create our current business. How has your business evolved since it

began? Starting with just the two of us, the business has now evolved to employ seven staff.

Carpark and domestic homes.

experience in the Coffs Harbour region, servicing government, commercial, insurance, builders and domestic clients, word of mouth quickly spread - and our painting services have been in hot demand!

We have also been doing more project management of large commercial repaints, coordinating various trades. Some recent projects we have completed include the repaint of Toormina Medical Centre, Opal Aged Care facility at the Lakes, Rigby House, Council Chambers, Park Ave

Of course, without our team of very experienced tradesmen, who are as equally passionate about painting and committed as we are, we could not deliver the high standard of work we do. As a team we are committed to training our next generation of tradespeople and supporting our apprentices. We would also like to acknowledge that behind

every great man is a greater woman! Our wives have been instrumental in our business success throughout the years. What is your greatest achievement? Creating a family owned business that carries our family values to both our clients and employees. Mark’s son, Isaac has been learning the ropes for the past six years, ready for the time when Mark will retire, then he and Peter will continue the business on. How do you measure success in business? Happy clients who want to give you repeat business and recommend your services. This has realised immense growth for us over the past three years, in our client base and number of employees. This means we are increasing employment and economic growth in our local region, which is a win for us. Especially as a business working on large scale projects, it is important to keep big contracts for local businesses, rather than importing crews from the bigger cities.
