un was certainly had at our annual Coffs Harbour Carnival. It is coming up to 30 years of the Carnival being a sign of the holidays and fun in the sun. It is certainly thrilling when we drive past and see the ferris wheel rise up over the harbour. The attractions cater for all the family, and in the evening they light up the Coffs Coast night sky. The Coffs Harbour Racing Club has certainly been busy with the club staging its Summer Racing Carnival. The Le Dãin Designs Summer Cup saw a hefty crowd attend on the day. Aside from the locals and tourists, who took advantage of the racing event being “family friendly”, there was eight race owners who treated their clients and staff to the luncheon packages in the corporate area. The race owners on the day were: Raine and Horne Toormina/Sawtell, Jacquie’s Shoe Boutique, La Fleur D’Alyse Cosmedic Laser and Medispa, Two Tails Wines, Open Air Picnics and Takeaway, Sawtell Hotel, Le Dãin Designs and Country to Coast Pest Control. Other Major Sponsors for the day were FOCUS, Opal Cove Resort, Ladies in Racing Magazine and Racing Carnival Escapes. Aside from the luncheon, there was of course The Le Dãin Designs Fashions on the Field. As I mentioned, this day

It is hard to believe that I am typing up the Social Pages for our February edition! Time flies when you are having fun … or so they say!

was Family and Fashion Friendly, so it made sense that there would be a “Best Dressed Family” section. Lots of fun here, as I am sure that even if you were verrry distant cousins ... you could enter! And they certainly did! This included the merging of the Beros and Bamford Family … not winners, but it certainly made for some fun family photos. To finish the day there was musical entertainment provided from the talented Benny Black. The club was certainly rocking way after the races were over. The next big Race Day was the ever popular annual Pink Silks Race Day. The committee, along with their helpers, generous sponsors and supporters had been working hard once again to make this day the success it always is. This is always another family friendly race day event, with a Children’s Fashions on the Field to add to the fun. Aside from the races, the lunch and the fashion, there was plenty of entertainment for the children. This day is a Charity Race Day, where the Pink Silks committee raises funds to lift the health of local women. Ladies and gents spruce themselves up and don their best PINK outfit to attend the fun at the track. The trust is a local registered charity, committed to raising awareness and funds for local women who are challenged by cancer or illness. Another

wonderful day out for everyone, as well as raising funds for a great cause. After the fundraising auction, the crowd were once again treated to being able to kick up their heels and enjoy the sounds from talented artist Benny Black. FOCUS attended the launch evening of SWIFF. This is the third annual Screenwave International Film Festival here in this area, which this time around screened over 70 films across locations from Coffs Harbour to Bellingen! This is a summer event that is definitely putting the region firmly on the map for film, star power and creative inspiration. The launch was staged at the Coffs Harbour Jetty Memorial Theatre. This festival is all about new voices and fresh ideas. Australia’s independent film makers are challenging the status quo, from the brothels of Kalgoorlie to the streets of your town. We always have something to suit everything here on the Coffs Coast, and this film festival definitely had it all. It was both refreshing and eye opening! The launch was packed out, and the festival itself was nothing short of amazing! We recently just shot this edition’s amazing cover at the beautiful Cedar Bar & Kitchen in Bellingen. Nicci, myself and Gavin, our fab new FOCUS photographer, along with talented

Kate from Living Doll arrived in 34 degree heat at the beautiful Cedar Bar & Kitchen. These shoots are like mini FOCUS events, because aside from all the hard work and skill that goes into the covers, they’re also really enjoyable. Despite the heat, the models were cool and beautiful. I really love being part of the FOCUS team and feel super privileged with being one of the front cover stylists. Staying with Bellingen, it really was the hive for creativity just recently. Camp Creative was certainly the place to be to enjoy arts and crafts. With the backdrop of beautiful Bellingen, one could relax and enjoy what Camp Creative had to offer. It is like an artistic summer camp for everyone; bearing in mind that is in its third decade, it is certainly popular! Classes ranged from mosiac, pure pencil, and material craft, to so much more. I have always fancied taking a Chinese brush painting class, but never quite get the time right! Camp Creative drew over 1,200 people as usual from around NSW and beyond. What a wonderful place we live in. Why chase paradise … We are living in it … Carole Beros, Le Dãin Designs.
