From the surf to the countryside of our beautiful Coffs Coast, there have been nonstop events to keep us constantly entertained!
Here we go full steam ahead towards the silly season! What does that mean? Well, the festive season is on its way, and parties will be popping up all over the place. But before we get charged up for that, this month we have had lots of events and entertainment to keep us occupied! I attended the opening of the Sawtell Art Group’s 27th Annual Exhibition with our editor Melly Shute and hubby Chris. Melly had the privilege of opening the exhibition to a full house of excited artists and guests. The gallery is looking fantastic, with more renovations recently completed. The atmosphere was buzzing with anticipation as the winners were announced. So difficult a decision to make, as there was an abundance of fine artwork to select from… President Colleen Davies commented that she was delighted with the attendance and that over 200 entries had been submitted from our local region. The organising of the exhibition had been a joint effort from the members, committee and friends alike. So lovely for people to be so generous with their time! An absolutely delightful evening was had by all. Staying on art: a fabulous function called 84 coffs coast focus.

We started the social pages this month with a bevy of awards at the Sawtell Art Centre, and we will finish it with another super popular annual awards night. This is, of course, the Sunny’s Business Awards event, which celebrates outstanding local businesses. This is staged at the C.ex Coffs and as always, was a massive success. Garth Shipperlee, who is the Executive Officer of the Coffs Harbour Chamber of Commerce, commented that the awards are vital for the business community. Each business contributes something unique that adds character and quality to the community and our local region; the Sunny’s Awards provides an opportunity to showcase this. The Sunny’s Awards have been established for 12 years and has become a very popular annual gala night on the Coffs Coast. The evening was hosted by ABC’s James Valentine, and featured entertainment from ever popular local band, Stripes. Guests sat down to dine on a sumptuous three course meal as the awards were presented. After the excitement of the presentations, the night was still young, and guests stayed on to enjoy the rest of the evening with music and dancing. Congratulations to all that took out awards from the FOCUS family team. Carole Beros, Le Dãin Designs.
