The Flynn Vancouver Branch has a great way of keeping safety our number one priority.

Through the direction of Branch Management and the eagerness of the Safety Department; site safety visits and inspections are done by a two-person team coming from both management and safety. On March 8th, Peter Taylor (Safety Specialist) and Romy Tarrayo (Plant Manager) met in the Hunter at Lynn Creek site to do their planned and required inspections. This is manned by 32 of our metal experts tasked to install snap-lock as well as fiber cement panels. The visit started by checking in and going through covid protocols. As the duo walked the jobsite, the typical photos were taken – fire extinguishers, ladders, fall restraints, daily records, as well the crew’s field office storage. The team continued their walk and while Romy passed a control zone, Peter stopped and surveyed the area. Peter started a discussion with Ray about expanding and extending the control zone because of the height of the work being performed as well as the roofline of the building. Romy agreed that the idea made sense and commented that he wouldn’t have even thought about that if he was alone in the inspection. It was a solid decision that would make the site safer for our crews at work. The interaction is one example of a simple teachable moment – more eyes, more years of experience, better results.
