IN THE COMMUNITY Flynn Honours Curling Champion
Submitted by Sean Thompson
Every year Flynn sponsors a local rink in Martensville (just north of Saskatoon).
The rink is important even on a national level and was used as a qualifying event for the 2022 Olympics. The picture below was taken during the inaugural Aly Jenkins Mixed Doubles Memorial curling tournament. Jenkins was a Saskatchewan curler who died two years ago due to complications in childbirth. All funds raised during the tournament go to the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, which provides hospitals with life-saving equipment for premature babies born critically ill. It’s an honour to be a part of such an important cause and we hope to see the tournament year after year.
The Regina Branch Stands up to Bullying
Submitted by Laura Berry
Anti-Bullying Day is an annual event held in Canada and other parts of the world where people wear a pink-coloured shirt to stand against bullying.
The initiative was started in Canada, where it is held on the last Wednesday of February each year. It’s a small gesture, but if each of us make this gesture we can show people we are unified in standing against bullying. Our Regina branch got together to do just that.
