With years of experience, especially in the backstage realm of Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week, Naima has established herself as a key player in the ever-evolving landscape of beauty and fashion
Naima’s journey into the world of makeup began at a young age. Growing up in a creative household, she was always drawn to the transformative power of beauty products. "Makeup is not just about looking good; it's about feeling good and expressing oneself," Naima says. This early fascination led her to pursue formal training in makeup artistry after completing high school She honed her skills at a prestigious beauty school, where she learned not just
the technical aspects of makeup application but also the importance of understanding diverse skin tones, textures, and styles
Naima's big break came when she was invited to work backstage at Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week. This annual event showcases the talents of both emerging and established designers, and Naima jumped at the chance to be part of it Over the years, she has had the opportunity to collaborate with various designers, creating looks that complement their collections and enhance the overall aesthetic of the shows.
"Backstage at Fashion Week is a whirlwind of creativity and excitement," Naima recalls "There's so much energy in the air You have to be ready to adapt quickly, as the designers often have a vision that evolves on the spot." Achieving a Timelessly Elegant Look
Violenne had been through a tough time with cancer and battled cancer three time. I worked closely with Violenne to understand her concerns and create a personalized look that would make her feel confident and beautiful I used a combination of techniques and products to even out her skin tone, define her features, and add a touch of warmth and glow to her complexion When Violenne looked in the mirror and saw her finished look, she was overwhelmed with emotion
She began to cry .She felt like herself again, but even more radiant and confident. Her eyes sparkled, and her smile lit up the studio Seeing the transformation in Violenne confidence and happiness was truly rewarding It reminded me of the power of makeup to not only enhance one ' s appearance but also to boost self-esteem and overall well-being It was an honor to be a part of Violenne special day and to help her feel her absolute best "
FLLFW: Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a professional makeup artist and beauty expert?
My journey to becoming a professional makeup artist was a calling. I believe that God gifts everyone with a talent and he blessed me with the ability to enhance beauty I started off just practicing on myself and my friends and I evolved from there
FLLFW: What inspired you to pursue a career in the beauty industry?
What really made me pursue my career in beauty was how fulfilling the smiles made me. Everyone is beautiful in their own way but when a client looks in the mirror and is surprised with the enhancement it moves my heart. I never wanted a career that would just pay the bills I wanted to do something that I would enjoy

LLFW: How would you describe your signature makeup style or technique?
My signature makeup style is the soft glam,natural glam and contouring .
FLLFW: What are some common makeup mistakes people make, and how can they avoid them?
I find that some common makeup mistakes people make when doing makeup are not focusing on your clients best feature, caking of makeup, and the lack of prepping of the clients face I think many of these mistakes can be avoided by having a routine Creating a checklist which assists you in making sure that you follow the proper steps.
FLLFW: How do you stay up-to-date with the latest beauty trends and techniques?
The way I stay up to date with the latest beauty trends is following makeup artists all over the world Trends are the direction in which something is moving so I follow many different makeup artists worldwide for techniques, creativity, and education
FLLFW: Can you share some of your favorite beauty products or tools that you always have in your kit?
Every makeup artist has their go to products. The products that I love to use range from affordable to slightly pricey Those products are; Maybeline superstay 24 hours, Nars, morphe, Anastasia Beverly Hills
FLLFW: What advice do you have for someone looking to improve their makeup skills at home?

My advice to a makeup artist that is looking to improve their skills at home is practice, educate yourself and be creative
FLLFW: What do you think sets your work apart from other makeup artists?
The way I approach creating makeup for a client is by asking the client their vision. I also focus on their features. FLLFW: Can you share a memorable experience or success story from your career as a makeup artist? What sets my work apart from other makeup artist is my love for my career. I really pour my heart and soul into each client I listen to what they want and I care about the outcome

Beautiful Kaysia Earley carved out a unique identity that intertwined her passions for law and fashion. A Jamaican American lawyer, Kaysia is known for her fierce advocacy in the courtroom and her impeccable sense of style that turned heads everywhere she go.
Can you share with our readers a bit about your background and how you became a litigator?
My response to that classic question, “What would you like to be when you grow up” ironically was not a lawyer. Rather, I proclaimed I would be the first African-American female President of the United States to my 4th grade teacher when I was 10 years old. Unfortunately, I was met with opposition and told to choose another profession. I had no clue how I would become the President, however, being told “no” motivated me to prove my teacher wrong. I researched and discovered that most of the former Presidents were lawyers, and from that moment on, I was determined to become a lawyer first and someday Madam President. Thirty-two years later, I have excelled in my career as a litigator and have experience campaigning as a former judicial candidate.
What was the turning point that motivated you to pursue a career in law after your experience?
During my senior year at Howard University, I majored in Political Science, and while working at a shoe store, I discounted shoes to my friends and family. I knew it was against store policy, but I did not think it was criminal. I figured, it wasn’t a big deal, totally disregarding the magnitude of my actions at the time. Due to my signed admission, the discounted shoes were over $200 and classified as a felony offense 20 years ago. I was arrested and charged with felony embezzlement. By accepting my past wrong decisions as a lesson learned rather than allow it to define me, I successfully transitioned from sitting in a jail cell, in solitary confinement, to practicing law and representing children and adults facing similar criminal charges.
Fast forward 20 years later, I’ve tried over 100 jury and non-jury trials and secured hundreds of dismissals and counting. My accomplishments extend beyond the courtroom. I’m a legal analyst on various court shows and news stations and host various shows ranging from legal panels held at universities to fashions shows. I wholeheartedly credit my faith as the foundation for my success.
As a former incarcerated individual turned attorney, what unique perspective do you bring to the legal field?
During my time as an assistant public defender, a job she held from 2014 to 2016, I represented some of the country’s most vulnerable people of color who were disproportionately apprehended, arrested, prosecuted, and sentenced. My experience on both sides of the criminal justice system is inextricably tied up with my fight for equality for diversion programs for first time offenders and the ongoing fight for racial justice. My prior incarceration has given me a unique perspective coupled with empathy for my clients. I’m constantly reminded and humbled of my experience behind bars every time I visit my clients who are held without bond. No matter what their charges are, they are still innocent until proven guilty by the Prosecution. I was raised as a Christian, so Jesus is my foundation and source of strength. I’m also connected to my home in Jamaica. I recall the summers my dad used to take my siblings and I to different parishes throughout the island and passed down traditions of his culture on the island. I make sure I come back frequently to recharge my internal battery.
Have you faced any challenges or stereotypes in the legal industry as a woman of color, and if so, how have you overcome them?
I’ve faced numerous challenges as a woman of color in the legal field. As a double minority – being black and a female – in a white, male dominated profession, it’s a rarity to see us as attorneys, specifically, practicing criminal law. Lawyers among the Founding Fathers held the truths to be self-evident that all men were created equal, however, obviously they did.” not intend those principles to apply to
women, especially of color. I’ll continue to advocate for my clients to move the justice system closer to fulfilling a promise never intended for us. Black females make up less than 4% of the legal profession. I’m hopeful more minorities will consider the legal profession, whether as a prosecutor, defense attorney, or even a judge”, she said. Additionally, “I’m changing the narrative, you can be beautiful and smart. I’m often presumed incompetent until proven competent and capable of getting a case dismissed
What are some key strategies you use to advocate for your clients effectively in the courtroom? **How do you advocate for those who find themselves in similar situations as yours?
I’m guided by the principle, what comes from the heart goes to the heart of the jury. From the moment I’m retained, I zealously advocate for my client’s Constitutional rights. During my jury trials I am cognizant of the projection of a criminal defendant. I educate the jury venire and my client on the process of a trial from jury selection to verdict. I’m aware a person who is accused of a crime is presumed ‘Guilty’ until proven ‘Innocent’, contrary to the US Constitution that every person accused of a crime is considered ‘Innocent’ until proven ‘Guilty’. I also educate my clients of their Constitutional rights during their inevitable police encounter. Commonly referred to as the “T.R.A.P.S. Attorney” I created the T.R.A.P.S. cards, a quick reference teaching civilians how to respond and invoke their rights.
Do you see any connections between the world of fashion and the legal world, and if so, how do you navigate those intersections? **You have a passion for fashion. How does that passion influence your personal and professional life? There is a connection between the legal world and the fashion industry in numerous ways. The obvious connection deals with various areas of practice including intellectual property and foreign trades, both domestic and internationally.
Current trends in the fashion and beauty industry have also changed the status quo in the legal arena. Gone are the days when women were subjected to a standard black-, navy blue-, gray-, or charcoal-colored suits in their courtroom wardrobe. During college, I majored in Political Science and minored in Fashion Merchandising. Courses that would seem to be diametrically opposed were instead a dynamic evolution to a career that was not considered ‘fashion forward’.
Can you share how you incorporate your love for fashion into your work as an attorney?
I wear various vibrantly colored suits during trials to project my confident approach, influence perceptions, and convey subtle messages to the finders of fact. My fashion extends beyond my clothes. Any fashionista knows the accessories, hair, shoes, and make-up is imperative in complimenting and completing the ‘look’. I like to mix high-end fashion with vintage pieces I commonly find at consignment shops. I also wear cultural inspired pieces from African to add color to my courtroom attire. My years studying fashion trends and experience in the courtroom has allowed me to express my individuality without compromising my professionalism.
Have you ever faced any stereotypes or judgments based on your style choices? How do you address them?
I’m stereotyped all the time. When a person finds out I’m an attorney, I get the common response, “You don’t look like an attorney” and I inquisitively respond, “What does an attorney look like?”. I have a nose piercing and colored hair, and still secured ‘Not Guilty’ verdicts and ‘Dismissals’, because my knowledge of the law speaks louder than my appearance. I’m changing the narrative, you can be a beautiful, smart and fashionable litigator, capable of securing dismissals and acquittals.
How do you stay motivated and inspired in such a demanding field, and do you have any advice for aspiring litigators, especially those from diverse backgrounds?
To thine own self be true. Don’t ever compromise yourself or morals for an opportunity for success. The tried, true and tested approach is through consistency. Criminal law is a demanding and high stress area of law. If my clients are found ‘Guilty’ by a jury of their peers, they could be sentenced to jail for life. This is a heavy burden to carry and it’s a greater burden when it becomes
a reality. As a true litigator who has tried over 100 trials to verdict, I’ve had to experience this gut-wrenching feeling. Initially I blamed myself and would question what I should’ve done differently. I realized this approached negatively affected my mental health. Rather, I allow every verdict to teach me how to become a better advocate and rely on the fact that I left my heart on the podium and did the best I could do with the allegations presented.
Are there any upcoming projects or cases that you’re particularly excited about or that you can share with our readers?
I am working on a memoir detailing my journey from The Jailhouse to God’s House, to the Courthouse. My life is truly a story of redemption and I desire to inspire people who are struggling overcoming their past indiscretions. Hard work and consistency is undefeated during the journey to success.
You’re married to a longtime friend and have four children. How do you balance your family life with your career?
I truly married my best-friend and #1 supporter. We are approaching our 20th Anniversary and I’m blessed to have a partner who’s been with me from my toughest challenges to celebrating my greatest successes. My 4 children keep me balanced and serve as a reminder to prioritize family because work can always wait for tomorrow.
What values do you instill in your children, especially considering your unique life experiences?
Proverbs 22:6 says to “Train up a Child in the ways of the Lord and when their old, they will not depart.” I also remind them to live a life of integrity so their good reputation will precede them.
What was the most difficult moment in your journey, and how did you manage to keep moving forward?
My most difficult moment in my career was my prior incarceration and overcoming the stigma of being labeled as a ‘Felon’. I had to persevere and excel as an attorney while being judged based on the bad choices of my past,
rather than my current accomplishments. I eventually forgave myself and learned from my wrong choices, which allowed me to be free from the hurt and the negativity from my past, knowing we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. I strongly advise people to not allow anyone to become the author of your story. The mistakes of your past is not a life sentence, rather a lesson learned and an opportunity to grow.
Who or what inspires you to keep pushing forward in your career and personal life?
Micah 6:8 requires us to “act justly and love mercy and walk humbly with God.” I’m inspired by the pursuit of justice. In the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance, we commit our lives to the pursuit of “liberty and justice for all” which should include everyone, regardless of gender, race, and economic status.
How do you define success in your career, and what accomplishments are you most proud of so far?
In an adversarial profession, my success is not defined solely on acquittals, rather, it’s defined by the lives that were changed for the better and the valuable lessons learned, even in my failures. As a professional, I am proud of the legacy Earley Law Firm will leave in my community. I formed my law firm in 2016 with one mission in mind – to create a firm specializing in criminal defense where the clients felt valued amidst the allegations and would have confidence knowing the lawyer they retained would zealously fight for their Constitutional rights. I never wanted to view my clients as a paid retainer, rather, I wanted to provide the same representation that I would expect if I was in their position. Just like the proverbial saying, ‘There but for the grace of God, go I?’ I’m humbled because I was once in the position as the Defendant and by God’s grace, I’m now the Defender.
You mentioned that you have kids, would you like your kids to follow your footsteps?
I would like at least one of my children, considering I have a 1 in 4 chance, to consider practicing law, however, if they are not passionate about advocacy I would caution against it.
The legal arena, no matter what area of law, would feel like work and not a calling if the desire is only to make money. My children have observed me during trials and hearings, but as of now, none have expressed any interest in the law.
Finally, how do you unwind and relax outside of work, and do you have any favorite fashion designers or trends that you’re currently loving?
I frequently travel to Jamaica. This beautiful island’s landscape offers a multi-dimensional experience. The Blue Mountains offers beautiful scenic views on its hiking trials, lined by numerous plants, and the inviting aromatic smell of the Blue Mountain Coffee. The coastline of Jamaica has its therapeutic salt water and waterfalls. Of course, the food selections are never ending. I earn my frequent trips to relax in this land of wood, water, and good vibes. In between my visits, I rollerblade to my favorite playlist. My mind takes me places my body can’t go in the interim.
Are there any projects or initiatives you are currently working on or hope to start that combine your legal expertise and passion for fashion?
I’m currently working on my book, documenting my journey from being behind bars to being sworn into the Florida Bar. I’m also, working with a designer to incorporate more fashionable blazers into the legal arena.
If you could go back in time and give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Don’t let fear stop you from trying because it will paralyze your future success.
I want my story of my past incarceration encourage people to motivate people to forgive themselves quickly, learn from their mistakes and persevere, no matter what. When I rededicated my life back to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I was guided by 2 Corinthians 5:17, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.” My past does not define me because I have a brighter future ahead.
