A LOOK BACK TO FLL FASHION WEEK 2022 -By Brittany Moura Mitzan

I

t was almost as if time didn’t pass at all at the FLLFW 2022, only about 6 months after the 2021 show there was a lot to live up to and let me tell you, we already can’t wait to tell you what we have in store for 2023! That being said let’s start at the beginning, Sunday March 13, 2022 in a very exclusive beautiful venue in Davie, FL. When first arriving you were greeted

by Victor Valdez, an incredible Pianist that sings all the classics but is also part of a hit Trio Elemen Trio, with vocals to live for, he had everyone singing along by the end of his set. Moving on through the early afternoon, we had a great conversation with our Host Tami @itssimplytami, and her incredible panelist, Dani Labory @danilabory, Dr. Simone Alicia @theselfesteemdoctor, Oxana Niki @oxananiki, Mei Jorge @blameitonmei, and Kavita Channe @ kavitachanne where we chatted about the hurdles, strides and huge accomplishments of being women in a content driven world.

Everything from life, confidence and even taxes were discussed, you know, the things that we all needed to learn while being entrepreneurs but never were taught in math class. We finished off the afternoon with a small but mighty fashion show from our min fashionistas with huge personalities from Mia Belle Baby that were all show stoppers and lit up the runway that you just had to be there to experience. Overall it left the guest lingering for more which was to come in the week ahead.

Next we had our Models and Media day kick off with our lovely Model’s Workshop with Kay Cox, and Will Moura.

Our models were delighted with refreshments and snacks while they enjoyed creating content with our photographers. The models then had a mini workout series with Pure Barre Fort Lauderdale with owner Amanda Lambert where they Lift Toned and Burned to some of today’s top hits while getting that “Pure Barre Lift’’ which actually stands for booty lift #amazing all with smiles on, our models enjoyed a boost of confidence and heart rate to head into the fashion week with a strut that no one could remove.

The highly anticipated Magazine Release Party with Cover Story Sofia Castro had an incredible turnout! At this point during the week, everyone is looking forward to seeing what everyone else is wearing and what this is all about. We saw interactions with some of the designers and even some new faces. With performances by Gaby Borges and Dj Lexey it was all enjoyed with a cocktail from our lovely Sponsor PATRON. The evening was a huge success thanks to Sofia and our amazing staff with rain or shine, would make this event one to remember.

That leads us to opening night at MACY’S Galleria Mall.

We were stunned by what Zakiya, their head stylist created for the runway! Looks from all of our favorite designers, all were inspired to shop that evening. Looks that went from day to night and night to day, it was surely a sight to see; with even a lucky appearance by our very own Milan @milans.instastyle and her brother Zalen @apexzalen the show was non stop fun and all what we want for Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week.

Which leads to TWO incredible days of Runway shows.

With the full house on both nights it was definitely a sight to see. Opening the show with incredible designers, having our Magazine feature the VIP lounge and Patron keeping our cups full, and our vendors, Lola.Label, Artcol we had over 300 people watching the sexy, sophisticated, show-stopping show each night with designers from all over the world. Afanador from Colombia, Maria Zapata from Venezuela, Lily Marotto from Russia and many more… with all showcasing swim, resort, couture, bridal, every day where and so much more. They were truly here to give their best work and they surely did.

All in all it was an absolute pleasure working with the stunning models, showstopping designers, hyped attendees, Patron (for keeping my cocktail glass full) and of course our Back of house Maxon Productions, Ariana Destafano, Maci Herrera Grant West, and or course the woman that makes it all possible every year, Florentina, I thank you for creating a space for all of us creatives and entrepreneurs to strive in. We appreciate you for all that you do and can’t wait for what ‘23 brings!

am from Saigon – or Ho Chi Minh City. It’s one of the biggest cities in Vietnam. I’ve always been a big city type of kid. I love the sounds of traffic, the buzzing streets, and the smells from street vendors. Who would of thought I would end up in Oneida, a quiet city located in Upstate NY? Well, everything happens for a reason. Saigon is a fast-growing city. I would say it is comparable to Singapore, or even downtown Las Vegas. We have casinos, malls, high-end stores like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci and more. Entertainment is a big thing there, especially with music concerts and fashion events.

I know a lot of people in the Vietnamese Fashion industry. I was head of international designers that coordinated the backstage for Vietnam International Fashion Week – the largest in Vietnam. They take fashion very serious there. I’ve never seen a fashion show with such quality, performance, and luxury as the ones I worked with in Vietnam. The bigname designers that I adore the most are “NGUYEN CONG TRI” or “CORY COUTURE.” Cong Tri had his collection showcased during official NYFW 2018-2019, and I was front row for both shows. It was a great memory.

Now I am settle in South Florida and planning my first major event in July during Miami Swim-week. I am looking forward to meet new people and start building my network and hopefully work with local celebrities in South Florida. We have MAJOR international TV shows and magazines in the works. I plan to dress Alist celebrity appearances in music videos, red carpet, and a Netflix show. Those will happen in 2023. Sadly, I cannot report any more due to confidential agreements, but exciting things are on the way!

I took the time during the pandemic to reflect on my journey, work on unfinished projects, connect with new talents and develop my own personality. That is how the DREAMERS collection came to be.

It is inspired by the hard times that this pandemic brought upon us and hoping for better days.

Anyone that knows me, is aware of how passionate I am about the beauty industry! I spent 15+ years in corporate beauty roles but I always had a yearning to be a makeup artist and express myself creatively. In 2019, I finally decided to attend professional makeup artistry school. The 7 intense months of transitioning from an executive into an artist were challenging but I couldn’t be happier. In these three years, I have taken every opportunity that I can to work fashion shows, collaborate on photoshoots or work with private clients. Regardless of the scenario, as an artist it never feels like work because I get to “play” with makeup and see the amazing power that it has. You can affect deep change within people from the outside in and that plays a domino effect relevant to their confidence and happiness. There is nothing more gratifying than that. My journey is just beginning but I want to continue to grow and learn as I build my career as an exceptional ARTIST.

AMANDA LEITAO My name is Amanda Leitao, better known as Mandy, I'm 31 years old. I am Brazilian, born in Santos/SP. Six years ago I moved to Florida in the US, a place where unimaginable doors opened in the makeup industry.

JADE BESERANY My name is Jade Beserany and my favorite place to be is behind the scenes. My love for makeup began as a child watching my mother apply her makeup, I was mesmerized by the process. The part I love most about doing makeup is connecting with people and allowing them to combine their inner beauty with their outer beauty. 69 RONALD AUBRY I am Ronald Aubry, a passionate and experienced esthetician specializing in a variety of skincare/body treatments. I am also a Makeup Artist/PMUA for over a decade. I do makeup for photoshoots, commercials, music videos, dance shows/competitions and fashion shows (Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week, Miami Fashion Week, Haiti Fashion Week).

With a background in athletics, Young-In is a former professional figure skater with a passion for beauty. Touring with Disney on Ice for 10 years, stage makeup has always been an interest. After retiring, she enrolled in the Masters program at Cosmix School of Makeup Artistry in 2018. Upon graduating, she has provided airbrush makeup for clients and photographers specializing in personal branding and headshots. It has been an honor for Young-In to be apart of the FLL Fashion Week Makeup Artist team for the past three years and is looking forward to so much more!

Fashion Makeup Artist, based in Boca Raton, Florida. Raised in Honduras and having studied in Las Vegas, Switzerland, and England, I discovered how much I loved the multicultural aspect that fashion offers. After finishing my studies at John Casablancas Modeling and Talent Center in Las Vegas, I was hired to teach makeup for some time, it was then that I realized I was meant to be in the makeup and fashion industry. Just recently in 2018, I made the decision to take my passion to the next level. I went to study under some of the best professional makeup artists at the renowned Cosmix School of Makeup Artistry. I fell in love with the creative world that fashion shows offer, it was clear then that my focus was going to be on Fashion Makeup. After graduating from Cosmix School, I had the opportunity to be the Lead Makeup Artist for several big shows in South Florida. I am a passionate artist and I get very inspired when leading the shows, I feel right at home producing some exotic looks for the models. My current goal is to keep expanding my makeup knowledge, and I plan to work on many exciting makeup projects and fashion shows.

You have two weapons at your disposal in the fight to stay cool and decent: fit and fabric.

Skinny- and slim-cut clothes trap warm air against your already sweaty skin. Loosen up, and it starts to flow. “A boxy shirt will keep you cool on those hotter than hot days,”. This shape is already off dress code, so don’t push it any further with hula girl patterns – plain white, light blue or grey designs reflect heat and the wrath of HR. Whichever material you choose should be just as breezy. Linen and light cotton are both covered with tiny holes, which ensures the air circulates. “Linen is a great option in tailoring or for granddad collar shirts,” “Lightweight chinos are also officeworthy.” If shorts definitely aren’t, then a slight roll gets some ankle skin on show, to help your body dump heat. And won’t get you handed a P45.

78 FLLFW: What inspired you to create your image (Sonya Singh)?

Growing up I always knew that I wanted to be in the entertainment industry and modeling was something that I gravitated towards, but I never saw someone who looked like me or was my height. Even though there was and still is an industry standard, I never let that deter me from doing what I love most! I started modeling and creating content with my fiancé Chris Kennedy who is a photographer. We collaborate on photoshoots that I post on Instagram, and from there I grew a following and found my passion as a creative petite model. The more I put myself out there, the more I realized that I am a voice for guys and girls that are my size and height and because of that I strive to make waves in the fashion industry to bring more representation to the petite community!

FLLFW: Your outfits, props, and locations that you use, are all beautiful and well selected what is the sort of process that is behind each photoshoot?

I love creating editorial content because it challenges me to think outside of the box! Whenever I’m in the car I always keep a lookout for photo locations. Once I have an interesting location or concept in mind, I start to build my wardrobe and select props to incorporate into the shoot around it. While I’m on set or at the location, that’s where my creative posing comes into play. I just have to feel the vibe of the shoot and from there my creativity starts to blossom. I like to say that I’m more than just a model because I wear many hats and I’m involved in the creative process. I creative direct, style, scout, and produce all of the content that I create collaboratively with my fiancé Kennedy.

FLLFW: You also have amazing Style, What's your fashion styling background?

I don’t have a background in styling but I have a creative eye that comes naturally when it comes to putting a look together I am an avid thrifter and most of the pieces in my collection are thrifted items. Thrifting has opened my eyes to the fashion world because there’s so many unique pieces that you can style effortlessly on a budget.

FLLFW: Who inspired you as a model and why?

I don’t have a particular model who has inspired me, but growing up I would watch America’s Next

Someone else’s success, talents, gifts, wealth, relationships, and/or opportunities have no bearing on me or my potential.

Top Model and that show opened my eyes to the world of modeling! I watched every cycle and told myself that one day I can become a model just like the girls I see on tv and in the magazines. Ever since then I’ve been following my creative calling.

FLLFW: What are some of your must-have beauty products?

I firmly believe in having a skincare routine because when you have great skin you just feel that more confident. My must-have beauty products are OSEA Malibu Ocean Cleanser, COSRX Snail Mucin Serum, OSEA Seabiotic Water Cream and for makeup I can’t live without Refy Brow Gel, cream contour, blush and ILIA mascara!

FLLFW: As a model and creator, how do you stay inspired and motivated?

Ever since I was a little girl I had big dreams for myself. My inner child is what helps me stay inspired and keeps motivated to continue to go after my dreams, even if they may seem a bit scary sometimes. I strive to make her proud because it’s me and only me who is going to help fulfill that time dream of hers.

FLLFW: What tips do you have for those that would like to be a creative model?

Don’t let society or the industry keep you from trying new things.

The more you put yourself out there the more opportunities you will create for yourself. If someone tells you no, do it anyway! Be open to the possibilities that you can create if you just believe in yourself!

FLLFW: Do you have any exciting future projects?

Aside from modeling and walking in runway shows, I have a podcast called UR Blossoming where I talk about spirituality, self betterment and how to step into your highest self by making a deeper connection within. You can tune in on any streaming platform.

FLLFW: What message would you like to share with your audience?

Stay true to you! Believe in your ability to make anything happen because you truly can create the life and opportunities that you’ve always dreamed of by taking positive action, believing in yourself and taking a chance on your passions!
