Sydenham High’s Alchemy Programme makes maths fun Sydenham High year 8 students became maths tutors for a morning as part of the school’s KS3 Alchemy programme, designed to reinforce good personal, learning and thinking skills. Following preparation sessions to help them understand what makes a good lesson, the year 8 girls worked with groups from Reception to year 5, helping them to practice their maths skills through interactive exercises and games. The sessions were a great success with both learners and tutors having fun and getting a boost to their maths confidence. Herne Hill School is well known as an oasis of happy, successful learning and as the largest feeder into the Dulwich Foundation Schools. By focusing on Early Years education (2+ to 7 years), it has developed a strong expertise in making the critical transition from Nursery to School seamless.
