“Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.” ~ John 12:26 (NLT) ~

WHERE I AM

I was reading today what Jesus said in the gospel of John. It’s here at the top of my blog and is recorded by theApostle in John 12:26 (NLT).

One phrase caught my attention: “My servants must be where I am.”

Most of the time I’m asking Jesus to be where I am.And, of course, we know He is with us everywhere, always.

But here, He’s asking us to be where He is that is, to go where He goes.

Where does Jesus go?

We learn from the gospels that He goes to the lonely, the hurt, and the oppressed. He reaches out to those who are struggling with defeat and yearning for victory. He’s there for the one who has nowhere else to turn.

And that’s where He wants us to be.

We are where He is when we encourage the discouraged, when we lift up the disenchanted and the disenfranchised, and when we serve those who have been overlooked.

You don’t have to travel far to be where He is. Maybe even no further than those nearest you: your friends, your neighbors, your colleagues.

He’s inviting you today to be with Him with them.

There you’ll find an opportunity to express His love and to make His mercy known.

Blessings on your week.As you prepare your heart for worship this Sunday morning, could Jesus be asking you to join with Him in service to someone in need of love and help? If so, I want to encourage you to jump right in and do what you are able. I do hope to see you in worship this coming Sunday. This week we are coming to an end of this semester of IMMERSE. I am pretty sure that we were all challenged and blessed reading and discussing our way through the books of the Prophets in the Old Testament. We will prepare for our last discussion groups this coming week with my sermon from the Book of Haggai: ACrash Course on Never-Enough.

P.S.

Please, please, do not forget that this Sunday, September 21st is National Back to Church Sunday. My prayer is still the same as it was last week that every member, regular attender or friend of First Southern will make a commitment to be here in person for worship this Sunday morning at 10:30. There is just something special about being with your church family for a great time of worship and fellowship around God’s Word. My prayer is also that each one of us will make a commitment to invite at least two people to join us this Sunday as well. Since only about 10% of our population in Prescott Valley and the Quad City area attend church on any given Sunday we still have plenty of friends and neighbors to invite.
