Lent is a time to take the time to let the power of our faith story take hold of us, a time to let the February 17 Dr. George Wirth to preach events get up and walk around in us, a time to intensify our living unto Christ, a time to hover over the thoughts of our hearts, a time to place our feet in the streets of Jerusalem or to walk along the sea and listen to his word, a time to touch his robe and feel the healing surge through us, a time to ponder and a time to wonder... Lent is a time to allow a fresh new taste of God! - Poem by Ann Weems from “Kneeling In Jerusalem”

As we approach this first Sunday in Lent, I share these insightful words from the Presbyterian author Ann Weems with all of you. It is my heartfelt hope and fervent prayer that each of us and all of us will set aside the time for reflection during this Holy Season. We begin our sermon series on “The Will of God” and our sermon this week is “The Will of God for Your Life and Mine.” I look forward to seeing you this Sunday, and hope that you will invite your family and friends to join us. May our belief in Christ continue to grow in our minds and hearts as we make our way toward Easter. God be with you! Faithfully Yours,
FEBruary 24 Second Sunday in Lent We c o n t i n u e o u r Lenten Sermon series “The Will of God” as we welcome back to the FPC pulpit one of our close friends February 24 Dr. Tom Tewell to preach and one of country’s finest preachers, Dr. Tom Tewell. Dr. Tewell is the Executive Director of Macedonian Ministries, sponsored by the Cousins Family Foundation in Atlanta. He has focused his time and energy on the renewal of pastors, church leaders and congregations and the Macedonian Ministries now involves more than 5,000 people here in Atlanta and across the nation. Dr. Tewell, a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and formerly senior pastor of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City, is a much sought after preacher, speaker, retreat leader and church consultant. He has preached here at FPC for our FOCUS Weekend and also for our Urban Ministry Conference Weekend, and we have been inspired and influenced by his dynamic presentation of the gospel and his warm engaging personality. Tom is married to Suzanne, who teaches in our Weekday Pre-School and belongs to one of our Presbyterian Women’s Circles. The Tewells have two grown sons who are married and four grandchildren. We look forward with great anticipation to welcoming Dr. Tewell back to our pulpit during this Lenten Season and to hearing his sermon about the Will of God For Our Church, entitled “Marching Off The Map”. It will be a Sunday that you do not want to miss! Faithfully Yours, George B. Wirth
