Fifteen Years of Serving the Community

The Family Center celebrates a milestone anniversary The Family Center is home to 12 nonprofit organizations serving the needs of our friends, families and neighbors. From medical to clothing to mental health, there are many resources under one roof. The Family Center is the result of the Foundation listening to the needs of the community and partner nonprofits. Collaboration between agencies creates an atmosphere of caring on one campus. The Community Foundation has invested $5.8 million in the building for the community. We know The Family Center will continue to be a central point of services for many more years.

2007 Caughman Health Center expands to include pediatric and adult care units.

2002-2003 The idea of a nonprofit campus came about in planning The Community Foundation’s 10th anniversary. Community leaders rallied around the idea and began to plan.

2005 The former Food Town grocery store was purchased and construction began.

2012 The Family Center serves as a hub for victims of the June 28th Derecho.

2010 Hancock Metropolitan Housing Authority expands.

2006 2004 Renovation planning began with RCM Architects.

The Family Center opened its doors on June 1, 2006. Ten of the current tenant agencies were part of the original group. Hancock Leadership Class of 2006 coordinated move-in.

2008-2009 Renovations made to expand Caughman Health Center and Legal Aid.

2011 Caughman Health Center opens an on-site pharmacy.
