I HAD THE PLEASURE OF INTERVIEWING BRAD GOULDING, butter’s head of brand and saleS. A former resident of Berkley, he has been around for 20 years, working in coffee and cannabis. He has been with Butter for a little over a year-and-a-half. There is a lot of overlap between coffee and cannabis, with the variety of flavorings, offerings and quality.

Butter's name came from one of the co-owners, Chris Klamkin, his nickname as a young man, Brad empha-sizes that although their butter Cannabis brand has a smaller place in the market, they are making a name for themselves through quality product and recognizable lifestyle brand. The beautiful brand and great lifestyle marketing have made Brad’s decision to work with them an easy one. The boutique atmosphere has a different layout.

THEY STRIVE TO HAVE THE BEST CANNABIS IN THE STATE, and butter has a lot of competition. They are trying to change the cannabis industry to make it sustainable.

Butter is vertically integrated with their cultivation based in Flint. The large location focuses on the local, with 70 percent of the employees coming from the Flint com-munity. There are over 50 employees, with a growth trajectory to be over 60 in the near future.

The Berkley store will be the flagship of the butter Cannabis brand. Berkley butter has ample parking, with 29 dedicated parking spaces in Berkley.

Berkley butter also has a “green roof” which helps with the longevity of the roof and drainage. Bees in the area will be joining them in the Spring.

WHILE ONLY ABOUT 90 ARE LISTED on their website right now, over 150 cannabis retailers carry the butter brand cannabis. butter is a small company with a large local footprint. Berkley will be their second location to their recently opened store in Ann Arbor.
