MISSY BEAN IS A LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER AND BEHAVIORAL MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST LOCATED IN BERKLEY.

For over 36 years, she has provided therapeutic services to youths and families, in both school settings and in her private practice.

Bean's desire to work in the mental health field began in early childhood. "When I was in elementary school, a social worker came to our classroom to offer emotional support after a student went through a crisis," says Bean.

"I saw how much she helped my class through a traumatic and painful event, and I thought that's what I want to do when I'm older: I want to help people. I came from a family that always opened our home to people who needed a safe space to land, so it was only natural that I would dedicate my life to supporting people who need help."

AT HER PRACTICE, WHICH SHE SHARES WITH FIVE OTHER TRAUMA-CERTIFIED SOCIAL WORKERS, she works with children who have behavioral issues and are struggling with depression. Other areas of her expertise include helping children and adults who struggle with anger management, anxiety, divorce, emotional disturbance, family conflict, peer relationships, relationship issues, school issues, self-esteem, and stress.

“I believe given the right tools, all children and families can heal and improve relationships,” says Bean. “I believe in a strength-based approach as well as a family systems model.”

Located at 1850 W. Eleven Mile Rd. in Berkley the following clinical social workers in Bean's practice have availabilities to book appointments for both in-person and virtual sessions: Kathy Menig, Shaina Smith, and Lisa Franklin.
