Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Emmerson!!!
We all had an absolute blast of a time at the wedding celebrations, everything was simply perfect. The weather was fantastic, the venue was beautiful and the bride, groom and bridesmaids all looked amazing... nothing could have been better. Although there were a few unwelcome guests in the form of flying mozzies, but who can blame them for wanting to join in the party!!!
To say it has been an emotional few weeks would be an understatement, however the many tears shed have all been happy ones.
After saying goodbye to the many friends and family members that travelled to attend, it's now back to reality and normal life as we know it.
The focus now moves to Christmas which really is just round the corner. So if you are looking at wanting to celebrate the festive season at a restaurant and haven't already booked, then now is the time to do it otherwise everywhere will already be full.
Another date for your diary is the expo in Torrevieja on the 15th & 16th November. It is sure to be a packed event with free entry and lots to see and do, so get yourself along and support your local community.
Until next time ….

Each December, Caravaca de la Cruz (Murcia, Spain) transforms its historic centre into a vibrant medieval fair. The 2025 Mercado Medieval runs from 5–8 December, coinciding with the Puente de la Constitución holiday.

Over 200 stalls, manned by artisans in period dress, fill the streets with traditional crafts such as pottery, glass-making, leather work, jewellery, and esparto-grass weaving. Food stalls tempt visitors with cheeses, cured meats, sweets, honey, and regional dishes.

The old town is adorned with medieval banners and alive with music, falconry, workshops, and craftsmen demonstrating ancient trades, creating a festive and immersive atmosphere.

Check the local programme for workshops if you have children - they often love things like blacksmith demos, leather-crafting or falconry.

It’s an ideal occasion to experience Murcia’s heritage, explore one of Spain’s Holy Cities, and find unique handmade gifts before Christmas.
Tips: Arrive early or use public transport, dress warmly for crisp evenings, and wander side streets for hidden artisan gems.

The Ballet of Lights productions arriving in Alicante offer a dazzling reimagining of beloved classical fairy-tale ballets.
In Ballet of Lights: Cinderella, the familiar story of the young girl who loses her glass slipper is brought to life onstage with talented dancers wearing glowing, fibre-optic costumes that burst into colour and light.

The Royal Ball, the mischievous stepsisters, and Cinderella’s transformation all feature in this magical 60-minute show designed for families and audiences of all ages.
Meanwhile, Ballet of Lights: Sleeping Beauty revisits the timeless tale of Princess Aurora, the wicked curse, and the true-love’s kiss that awakens her after the long sleep. Again, the conventional choreography of ballet is merged with modern lighting effects and illuminated costumes to create a visually stunning journey through fairy-tale magic.
The first show, “Cinderella” (Ballet of Lights: Cinderella), will take place on Friday, 21 November at 6:30 pm, at the Auditorio Fundación Mediterráneo, Avenida del Doctor Gadea 1, Alicante. Then, the “Sleeping Beauty” show (Ballet of Lights: Sleeping Beauty) will be staged at the venue on Saturday, 13 December. They promise an evening where classical dance meets contemporary spectacle, offering enchantment for children and adults alike.
Tickets should be booked online in advance to avoid disappointment.

Each year, the vibrant coastal town of Benidorm on Spain’s Costa Blanca bursts into one of its most popular festivals - and in 2025 the celebrations for the Fiestas Mayores Patronales will run from Friday 7 November to Wednesday 12 November, with the fabulous “Fancy Dress” party the following day.
What’s
The heart of the festival honours the town’s patron saints: Virgen del Sufragio (Virgin of Suffrage) and San Jaime Apóstol (St. James the Apostle).
Over five days, the town transforms: streets are decked in lights and flowers, local clubs (peñas) gather, religious processions weave through the old town, bands and musical marches spill into plazas, and there are parades of floats, comedy satire parades and a spectacular fireworks display to close the official part of the festival.
On Saturday 8 November, one of the standout events: the theatrical re-enactment of the “discovering” of the Virgen on Poniente Beach, followed by a flower-offering procession. Evening parades and a huge fireworks show on Wednesday 12 November that signal the climax of the festival.
Then on Thursday 13 November, the famous British Fancy Dress Party takes over: an open-street costume party around Calle Gerona where tens of thousands join in, making it one of Europe’s largest fancy-dress occasions outside official festival hours.
Expect a lively, high-energy mix of local tradition and holiday-party fun. By day you’ll see solemn processions, ornate costumes, young “reinas” and “damas” in regional dress, and bands. By night the tone shifts into street-parties, nightlife and merriment that lasts late.
Why
This festival offers a satisfying blend of Spanish cultural-religious tradition (with processions, the Virgin’s homage, local community “peñas”) and pure holiday atmosphere (street carnivals, music, costume parties).

The normal person in the street probably believes that Amateur astronomers all have a large telescope sitting in the garden with all the technical gubbins that go along with it. That’s only true of a few of us, most amateurs use either a portable telescope, which these days massively out perform a bulky model from 30 years ago, or very commonly, just use a chair and a pair of binoculars.

Why a chair? That’s because you need to be comfortable. Holding a pair of binoculars for a long time will tire your arms and you won’t be able to concentrate on what you are looking at. If you are just starting in astronomy, don’t even go out and buy new binoculars, just use whatever you happen to have in the house. As long as they are working properly, I.E. not giving you double vision, they’ll be fine to start you off. If you are going to buy a pair then some normal 10 x 50s will help you identify features on the Moon, reveal thousands of stars in a cluster and unravel the amazing Milky Way. What do those numbers mean? It’s simple really, the 10 is the number of times they magnify and the 50 is the size in millimetres of the main or object lenses. Magnification is far less important than you might expect, and the size of the main lenses is the important bit. If you don’t believe me, just go outside on a clear night and have a look at the Andromeda galaxy I mentioned last month, the bigger lenses will make all the difference. So, you’ve decided to give this a try, you need to do just a little preparation before you start. Just going outside and looking up will leave you confused about just what you are looking at so it’s a good idea to have one or two things in mind that you are going to see. Obviously the Moon is a great place to start, so look at a few simple maps first and pick a few large features then find them for yourself, that’s a beginning and you’ve just become an amateur astronomer, welcome to the club. Of course the Moon isn’t always visible so having something else to look for is a good idea. If you’re reading this in November you will have a chance to look at a constellation (pattern of stars) called Orion. It rises in the south east around 10 pm and will rise earlier and earlier as we go through winter. There is a picture of Orion alongside this article, and it’s very distinctive and easy to find. Don’t be surprised if it looks to be on its side a bit, it keeps moving as we move through the night and the year. You will be able to see the Red Giant star Betelgeuse, a star that’s likely to go boom sometime in the next thousand years. A cloudy patch near the middle that is a gas cloud called a nebula, one day that will become a star. There’s much more too.
Orion is a bit of a treasure trove for astronomers so getting to know it, is truly fascinating. Unlike the rest of the Universe, space here is limited so you will have to wait until next month for the second part of this series. I’ll be talking some more about binoculars, and telling you how to find some more wonders of creation.

Undertaking an extension without the necessary permits brings several potential drawbacks.
-Firstly, the lack of legal compliance poses a significant risk. Homeowners can face penalties, fines, and even demolition orders if the unlicensed extension is discovered. Living in a property with an illegal extension can cause ongoing worry and anxiety.
-Furthermore, the lack of proper documentation may complicate property transactions, hinder resale potential, and deter potential buyers or lenders.
-The fear of discovery and constant unease create anxiety. Homeowners live with the constant worry of being exposed by authorities or neighbours. The knowledge that their extension is unauthourised brings a sense of unease and discomfort. This psychological toll prevents homeowners from fully enjoying their property, undermining their overall quality of life.
-Addressing these hazards is vital. Obtaining a retrospective licence can provide relief from the constant anxiety and stress associated with an unapproved extension. It allows homeowners to rectify their non-compliant actions, restore legal compliance, and enjoy their property without fear of denouncement or legal repercussions. This proactive approach demonstrates a commitment to adhering to local regulations and provides peace of mind.
-Moreover, a retrospective licence positively impacts the property’s value and marketability. Prospective buyers and lenders value properties with documented, legally compliant extensions. Such properties generate increased interest and have the potential to maximise the selling price.
-Obtaining the necessary documentation also enables homeowners to secure appropriate insurance coverage for the extension, offering financial security and peace of mind in case of unforeseen events.
-Retrospective licensing provides homeowners with the

opportunity to plan for the future with peace of mind. It eliminates the fear of hidden legal issues or denouncement when undertaking further renovations or modifications. Knowing that the extension has been rectified and brought into compliance instils confidence and allows homeowners to fully enjoy their property.
-Additionally, obtaining a retrospective licence facilitates future property transactions. The comprehensive documentation provided satisfies buyer and lender requirements, ensuring a smooth and worry-free transfer of ownership. Homeowners can proceed with property transactions without concerns about the legality of the extension, streamlining the process and avoiding potential obstacles.
-To obtain a retrospective licence for an extension built without a proper building licence, certain conditions must be met:
·In Murcia, the building work must be at least 4 years old.
·In Almeria, the building work needs to be over 6 years old.
·Alicante, it must have been completed before August 2010.
-By demonstrating a commitment to following regulations and taking the necessary steps to obtain a retrospective licence, homeowners can transform their hidden extension dilemma into a path towards legal compliance, security, and peace of mind.

It’s amazing just how much work goes into any theatre production for the months leading up to rehearsal time.
For the ADAPT Theatre Group this has been even more so as we are preparing to move to a larger and more prestigious venue. But what fun we have had with our weekly rehearsals, with everyone chipping in, not only with action on the stage but also costume design, musical numbers, ideas for props and of course mutual help with our Spanish lines.
Although we are as disciplined as we can be during the rehearsals, it has to be said that we also have a huge amount of fun. The material makes us laugh and we love to add funny touches here and there as we go along.
This summer has been especially busy for the ADAPT Theatre Group as the decision was made to move our bilingual pantomime to San Pedro del Pinatar’s brand new theatre Geli Albaladejo. After 14 years of sell-out performances in the town’s Casa de Cultura the change will be exciting and full of new technical and artistic challenges.
The performances of Jack and the Beanstalk will be on 28th November at 7pm and 29th November at 12 noon and 7pm at the Geli Albaladejo Theatre, Avda de los Flamencos, San Pedro del Pinatar. Tickets priced at 5€ are available from: Bar Amigos Avda Las Salinas, San Pedro; Mail Pinatar (SEUR) c/ Reyes Católicos, San Pedro and they can also can be reserved by WhatsApp or phone from Eric on 656 361 098.

Cancer: Midmonth: Venus is in Libra squaring Jupiter in Cancer. This is a time to chill, take it easy and relax after a few hectic weeks. Indulge yourself as a reward for your endeavours, knowing that you deserve this special time for you.
Leo: As the Moon is in Leo it’s time for you to say exactly how you are, and let your dreams, wishes and desires become a reality. Self expression is just you telling it how it is; so lay down the ground rules and you’ll feel even better.
Virgo: Uranus squares up to your Fixed Node. Surely a red letter month, any power struggles brought about by others serve to see you working hands on with your destiny; which now will finally work with you and not against you in any way.

Libra: The Sun in Scorpio allows you time to concentrate on prioritising your devotion and love on someone who is attracted to you. This bonding process will determine so much and let it guide you onwards to just where you should be.
Scorpio: The New Moon in your sign later on in the month heralds beginnings, new horizons and renewal. Your spiritual energies are growing and are guiding you onwards to your true destiny. If it feels right this month, it probably is!
Sagittarius: Your planetary leader, Jupiter, is starting retrograde in Cancer this month. Initially things need to slow down somewhat, but you will now be wanting to look within to see what’s going on. Be open to sudden changes.
Capricorn: Vesta is in your sign this month. The focus is on goals, old and new and some hard work that you have yet to finish. You’ll get all the help that you need, so start the process and see who comes along to be at your side.
Aquarius: The Uranus sextile with Neptune thrives on creativity and highlights a need for spiritual growth. Uranus, planet of invention, is quick on the mark and set to surprise you and reward you for a recent job done well.
Pisces: Neptune, your planetary leader is invincibly powerful but spiritually enabling and understanding. Dreamy and mystic, your own psychic energies are opening to make positive change where needed, and love guides you on!
