Well, although the company was great in the UK the weather was grey and damp and COLD. Darling daughter nearly didn't get off the plane when the pilot said it was -1ºC on landing.
Thankfully they had de-iced the windscreen of the hire car and heated it up for us or I feel there may have been a tantrum moment.
As darling daughter speaks English perfectly and without any accent people assume she is born and bred in England. Not so, she was born and bred in Spain. This caused a few moments when we got strange looks as she reacted like an alien to things someone born in the UK would take for granted. Shopping in the local supermarket was one such moment with squeals down most aisles.
Fortunately I managed to keep her away from large stores and we stuck to the local shops in the town, but she still managed to max out our luggage allowance on things she 'needed' that you can't get here in Spain.
We have just about defrosted and were very glad to get back to see blue sky. Hopefully any future trips will be in the summer. I hope you enjoy the magazine, we are lucky that there is so much going on again this month in the area.
Until next time, take care and be kind.
Pick up your next issue on 1 April. Deadlines: Editorial & Advertising - 17 March.

This year, March is a good month to enjoy the night sky, Mars, Jupiter and Orion are still easy to spot, and the new moon is terrific to observe. Although not observable at the moment, Saturn is doing something unusual.
I'll start with the Moon. From about the beginning of April the new Moon will be very low in the west and will be higher in the sky on each successive night. So, why do I say that it is terrific to observe when there's only a little bit showing? Most people who are new to astronomy assume that a full moon is best to look at, simply because you can see all of it. The problem with a full moon is that all the Sun’s light is going directly at the surface, there are few, if any shadows. A new Moon has the sunlight hitting it at an angle, this highlights all the surface features making them stand out so much more. You can see this effect for yourself by standing in front of a mirror in a dull or dark room with a torch. Shine the torch directly at your face, then move the torch to the side, so much more detail shows.
If you do get outside to do some moon watching, don't just look and think how pretty it is, take the chance to identify what you're looking at. There will be some famous seas and craters to find, and the south pole is well lit. The south pole is where many of the latest moon landers are headed because of the signs of water hidden there.
Both Mars and Jupiter are very easy to find in the west, Jupiter is a little lower in the sky and is the brighter of the two. If you have a small telescope this is a good time to get it out and find the vast cloud belts that circle Jupiter, you'll also see some of the four inner moons often called the Galilean moons, because Galileo was the first person to see them. If you look again the following night, you'll see how far they have moved as they circle this enormous planet. Why not try and identify each one? A few minutes with a book or the internet will help you tell them apart.
The constellation Orion I've mentioned many times before so I won't go on about it again, but why not take this last chance to look at it before it disappears from our view until the autumn.
I'll finish with Saturn, with its glorious ring system. It is too low in our sky to be visible to us until later in the year. When it reappears it will be unrecognisable to most people, the rings will seem to have disappeared. This is all part of the natural change in the viewing angle from our perspective and they'll reappear, just about, in 2026. You'll have to wait until 2032 before they are at a perfect angle again though.

Modelo 720 is an informative declaration that must be submitted by tax residents in Spain who own assets located abroad. Introduced in 2012, its primary aim is to fight tax fraud by increasing transparency and control over assets located outside the country. Both individuals and legal entities are required to submit this declaration, provided the value of the assets, or rights exceeds 50,000€ in any of the following three categories: Bank accounts, financial investments (including insurances and any kind of shares/stocks), and real estate.
The deadline for submitting Modelo 720 is between 1 January and 31 March of the year following the one in which the assets are declared. It must be done electronically via the Tax Agency’s website.
If you have submitted Modelo 720 in previous years you only have the obligation to submit it again if the value of any of the three asset blocks has increased by 20.000€.
Penalties for failing to submit the Modelo 720 can be extremely high, which has led to criticism due to their disproportionate nature. The regulations impose fines for both omission and incorrect declarations, with penalties that can exceed 100% of the undeclared value. However, European courts have questioned some of the provisions of this model, as the penalties are seen as disproportionate in relation to the value of the assets.
In summary, Modelo 720 is a key tool in the fight against tax fraud in Spain, although both its implementation and penalties remain subjects of debate.
Since this is a declaratory model and only requires the submission of information without the payment of any taxes, it is highly recommended that you submit this declaration. You are obliged to do so before 31 March 2025.
Since 2024, Crypto currencies must also be declared under the new declarative form 721. Although it is a different form to Modelo 720, the instructions, requirements and deadlines are the same as form 720. If you have Crypto currencies abroad over 50.000€ in value as at 31 December, please note that they would also need to be declared before 31 March.

Dupuytren contracture is a condition that causes one or more fingers to bend toward the palm of the hand. The affected fingers can't straighten completely.
The cause of the disease is unknown, although people who have a family history of Dupuytren’s, men of Northern European decent, people with diabetes, and people with a history of smoking/consuming alcohol are at a higher risk of developing the disease.
Dupuytren contracture most often affects the two fingers farthest away from the thumb, as knots of tissue form under the skin, eventually creating a thick cord that pulls the fingers into a bent position, with the condition gradually getting worse with time.
Everyday life activities such as putting on gloves, placing hands in your pockets, shaking hands or even picking up an item can become nearly impossible. Although there is no cure, treatments from injections to more indepth procedures can relieve symptoms and slow how quickly the condition progresses, so it is of the upmost importance to diagnose the condition at its earliest stage.
The symptoms are unique and quite visible and easily diagnosed, so if you believe your symptoms match those above, then contact us at Clinica Britannia to see our doctor for a consultation and further advice.

Accidents can happen at any time, and knowing how to handle dental emergencies can mean the difference between saving or losing a tooth. A simple fall or blow to the mouth can lead to broken or knocked-out teeth, requiring immediate action.
If a tooth is broken, the first step is to find the broken piece. In many cases, dentists can glue it back if treatment is sought quickly. When a tooth is completely knocked out, locate it immediately and hold it by the crown, avoiding contact with the root. Rinse it in cold tap water and follow one of these options: place it back in its original position, store it in a cup of milk or saline, or keep it inside the mouth between the cheeks and gums if no liquid is available. Seeking dental treatment within two hours is crucial to improve the chances of saving the tooth.
One of the best ways to ensure your teeth remain healthy and protected is by regularly visiting a trusted dentist. Dr Carmen Colomar, a highly qualified professional, offers expertise in restorative, cosmetic, and paediatric dentistry. Having obtained her degree from the Universitat de Barcelona and a Master’s in Occlusion and Oral Rehabilitation, she further expanded her knowledge with a postgraduate degree in Periodontics. Her years of experience in general and paediatric dentistry, both in Spain and the UK, make her a leading expert in handling both routine and emergency dental care.
Dr Carmen’s warm and welcoming personality helps children feel at ease, making her an excellent choice for paediatric dentistry. She is also highly skilled in cosmetic procedures, ensuring that patients receive not only functional but aesthetically pleasing restorations. She is now practising at Zen Smile Spa in Jávea, working alongside Dr Carolyn Carbasse, offering a comprehensive range of dental treatments in a relaxing and modern environment.
Regular dental check-ups can help prevent major dental issues and ensure that, in case of an emergency, you receive prompt and professional care. Don't wait until an accident happens- prioritise your dental health today by scheduling a visit with Dr Carmen Colomar at Zen Smile Spa.

Valencia welcomes spring with the spectacular Fallas festival, a vibrant celebration of art, fire, and tradition. Recognised as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2016, this festival is the city's most famous and international event.
The festival reaches its peak on March 15 with the plantà, when more than 700 ninots are installed across Valencia. Some of these monumental sculptures stand over 20 meters tall, depicting caricatures and satirical figures that humorously critique politicians, celebrities, and current affairs.
Visitors can admire these impressive displays until the night of March 19, when the cremà takes place—a mesmerizing spectacle of fire, music, and fireworks, as all but one ninot are set ablaze. The spared ninot, chosen by public vote, is preserved in the Fallas Museum.
Another highlight of the festival is the floral offering to the Virgin Mary on March 17 and 18, where Falla committees form a breathtaking 14-metre-high floral tribute to the city’s patron saint. Beyond the fires and satire, Fallas is a festival of music, parades, open-air celebrations, and competitions, uniting locals and visitors in an explosion of colour and tradition.
Whether you're drawn by the artistry, the fireworks, or the deep cultural roots, Fallas is an experience that truly brings Valencia to life.
The Bunion or Hallux Valgus is a deformity of the foot caused by a deviation of the first toe towards the middle axis of the foot and a deviation of the first metatarsal towards the outer edge of the foot accompanied by irregular bone growth in the first metatarsal head and articular incongruity of the metatarsophalangeal joint. This causes pain due to inflammation of the soft tissues of the area from constant friction against footwear and from the structural and mechanical alteration due to the bone deviation.
When is it recommended to operate on bunions?
It is recommended to operate on bunions when they are painful, when osteoarthritis appears or the structural deformity affects walking correctly which in turn affects other levels of the locomotor system. It is also advisable to perform surgery in cases in which as a result of the bunion, the toes are deforming like when the second toe appears hammer-like.
When a patient wishes to undergo an operation a professional should study each case individually, taking into account the age, health status, lifestyle ... etc. At Portalet Clinic, we will explain in detail and alleviate any worries without compromise.
What type of technique is carried out at Clinica Podológica Portalet?
We perform minimum incision surgery. As its name suggests, it is done using minimal skin incisions, usually 2 to 4mm. Through these millimetric incisions we can reach the soft tissues and bone, without causing injury to the adjacent tissues.
- Immediate recovery as the procedure is minimal.
- The patient walks away with a post-surgical shoe without crutches or help.
- After just 48 hours the patient can continue life as normal.
- Almost painless.
- No fixing bolts or needles used. One of the drawbacks of open surgery is the use of fixing materials, with Minimal Incision Surgery fixations are not necessary as the soft tissues themselves, which we have respected, the joint capsule and a light dressing are responsible for this.
- Local anesthetic, only affecting the foot, so the dose used is less.
- No hemostasia (restriction of blood flow). As the size of the incision is so small, there is little bleeding so there is no need for a tourniquet, thus avoiding all risks of cutting blood flow.
- Less risk of infection. The small size of the incisions also decreases the risk of infection.
- Barely visible scaring.

At Clinica Dental La Plaza, your journey to a healthier, more confident smile begins. Dental implants have revolutionised tooth replacement, offering a permanent, naturallooking solution for missing teeth. Unlike removable dentures, implants are designed to function like natural teeth, restoring not only your smile but also your confidence and quality of life.
The process begins with the placement of a titanium implant into the jawbone during a minor surgical procedure. Over 3 to 6 months, the implant integrates with the bone through a process called osseointegration, creating a strong foundation for the replacement tooth. Once complete, a custom-made crown is securely attached to the implant, blending seamlessly with your natural teeth.
Under the expert care of Dr. Jorge Santillan, a highly trained Specialist Implantologist at Clinica Dental La Plaza, these implants are crafted to mimic natural teeth so closely that even experts would struggle to tell the difference. Whether you’re missing one tooth or several, Dr. Santillan’s meticulous approach ensures exceptional results tailored to your needs.
Dental implants offer numerous advantages. Fixed securely in the mouth, they allow you to chew, speak, and smile naturally - without the slipping or discomfort associated with dentures. They also help preserve your jawbone and facial structure, preventing the sunken appearance often caused by missing teeth. Beyond functionality, implants enhance your selfconfidence, allowing you to fully enjoy life without hesitation.
Clinica Dental La Plaza is dedicated to providing personalised, state-of-the-art dental care. Dental implants are of course only chosen after due consideration of other options. From single-tooth replacements to complex full-mouth restorations, the team prioritises your comfort and satisfaction. With their expertise, you’ll regain not only your smile but also the ability to enjoy the foods and moments that matter most.
Clinica Dental La Plaza is the answer

Osteoporosis is often called the 'silent disease' because it progresses without symptoms until a fracture occurs. As we age, our bones naturally become weaker, increasing the risk of fractures, especially in the hips, spine, and wrists. A minor fall can have serious consequences, leading to prolonged hospital stays, reduced mobility, and a significant impact on quality of life.
This is why regular check-ups for bone density and taking preventive measures, such as a healthy diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, are essential. However, even with the best precautions, accidents can still happen. In the unfortunate event of a fall, having immediate medical assistance can make all the difference.
That’s where the Asociación Amigos Europeos de Jávea (AAEdJ) comes in. This private ambulance service provides swift emergency response, ensuring that those in need receive urgent care without delays. My family personally experienced their efficiency first-hand when we needed their help in an emergency. A simple call to their 24-hour number, quoting our membership number, was all it took for an ambulance to be dispatched immediately. There was no need to speak Spanish or provide directions-everything was already preprogrammed into their system.
The peace of mind that comes with knowing help is just a phone call away cannot be overstated, particularly for those at higher risk of falls and fractures. The service covers most of the Marina Alta, including inland areas, making it an invaluable resource for residents.
DON’T WAIT UNTIL IT’S TOO LATE. If you or a loved one are at risk of osteoporosis-related fractures, take action now. Getting checked for osteoporosis is a crucial first step, but ensuring you have emergency medical cover is just as important. Becoming a member of the AAEdJ is simple and affordable—just €60 per year for the entire family. Contact Laure Bolufer, the Registration Manager on 96 579 6099, or visit their office to register. Laure is there from 10am to 1pm every weekday. The Head Office is located at Avenida Juan Carlos 1, No 69, in Jávea. Email: amigos_europeos@yahoo.es. You may never need them, but if you do, you’ll be incredibly grateful that you took this step.

I recently had an inquiry from a client asking if we did natural grass also?
To which I responded we can do natural grass, with my old landscaping company I have the knowledge and the ability to create and install natural lawns. But I asked this client a question Why do you want natural grass?
My honest response when someone asks me this question is, Why? Why would you want natural grass? I know why a lot of people think they want natural grass and I am not a tear up the countryside and turn into a carpark type person, but when you are talking about a property here in Spain, in particular where we live, the reasons for not having artificial grass become very small and weak in argument against the option of natural grass. I believe most people’s reluctance is based around environmental issues and or tales they have heard about artificial grass. So, I will quickly try and give a few reasons to counter what most people believe is the truth.
• Artificial Grass poisons the ground and the insects etc underneath it.
I cannot speak for all artificial grasses
as some are made in other countries where regulations and rules regarding the materials used in manufacturer aren’t the same as Europe. Our European made, non toxic, child safe grasses do not hurt anything living underneath it. They do not emit toxic chemicals to poison anything, in fact most times if you lift the grass after some time I could probably guarantee a better eco system underneath than it was before you put the artificial grass down.
• Natural grass is more environmentally friendly.
Our grass is made from plastic, but once it’s made and laid then it’s stable, where as natural grass requires chemicals to feed and sometimes weed, and it requires water. A lot of our water here is desalinated meaning the energy used to create the clean water and the impact the brine has on the environment is not good. There is then your gardener with his van and mower and strimmer all of which use fuel to get to your garden, then and more importantly when your lawn clippings rot, they create carbon dioxide and worse for the environment methane and in quite large quantities, lawn clipping from lawns are actually one of the worst polluters. So once our artificial grass goes down that’s it, nothing or barely a CO₂ footprint and
we have clients who have had it for 20 years.
I have heard a whole load of these types of assumptions and misinformation about artificial grass, so I could bore you to death so I won’t go on.
I am not saying that artificial grass is the be all and end all, but you always have to look at the circumstances you are in, and here where we live, it is in most respects by far the lesser of two evils, it’s just people don’t understand the truth behind the product or natural lawns.
Artificial grass gives you so much more than a natural lawn can in terms of a clean area, all year round green and almost zero maintenance. When you actually look at the facts you may be surprised at what some people perceive to be the more environmentally friendly of the two and what is actually the truth.

Microdermabrasion; when I first heard about this treatment I immediately thought of someone sandpapering my skin to remove all the dead skin cells until it was red raw. Well, little did I know this wasn't the case after finding out about The Diamond microdermabrasion with crystals. After seeing several of our clients leaving Shari's beauty room, based within Mimiskru, all looking glowy and relaxed after their 2 hour pamper session, not one mentioned pain or discomfort, only pure relaxation.
One of our clients; Gerda remarked, how relaxing and enjoyable the treatment was with her glow. She had enjoyed the full package; Deluxe lifting Fuhlendorf. You could see immediate visible results on her first session. This is an amazing treatment for aging skin, lines, and wrinkles, open pores, blackheads, pigmentation, blemish scars, acne scars, stretch marks and so much more. When it comes to your skin, diamond crystal microdermabrasion stimulates new cellular growth, and gives the skin a fresh, smooth, luminous appearance. Boosting natural collagen to the skins surface.
But, let's hear it from the experts; Shari and Uti.
Fuhlendorf Dermasonic Microdermabrasion uses special abrasion crystals as an exfoliating agent to gently remove the top layer of dead skin cells and other impurities from your face. The wand's vacuum sucks up dirt and dead skin cells so no particles are left on the skin. This is an effective way to keep your skin looking healthy and radiant for 4 weeks. Microdermabrasion with the Fuhlendorf Dermasonic can be used for general skin regeneration, atrophic skin and more.
It helps to reduce the depth of wrinkles, improves the skin structure, stimulates cell division, increases microcirculation and allows active ingredients to penetrate deep into the skin.
All of these benefits will help you achieve a healthier-looking complexion that will continue to improve over time with continued use of the device.
So if you are looking for a simple and effective way to refresh your facial appearance and reveal beautiful new skin, then the Fuhlendorf Dermasonic is the perfect choice.

Up and coming future Olympic participants, and the “Club Deportivo - Montgo Xabia”, based in Jávea, have a membership of over 220 budding athletes, both male and females aged 316 years performing and training for rhythmic and artistic gymnastics.
The club enters a variety of competitions throughout the year, where from the ages of 6-7 years old they strive to participate, improve, and train (for up-to 6 days a week) for their ultimate goal - the Olympics.
The membership is roughly 50% from Moraira and Jávea, but members come from as far a field as Gandia to Alicante. It is mostly funded by parents, with contributions from local authorities, but costs and expenditures are high, so it is with much pride and pleasure that Teulada Moraira Lions are delighted to sponsor this wonderful project with 3000€.
The club is a non profit organisation so funding is always needed, and on this occasion the money is being spent towards providing a safe meter deep foam pit where young athletes practice safe landings.
Well done to all the members involved, good luck to all the young dedicated gymnasts, with your training and success, we look forward to supporting your future achievements.

THE ARTS SOCIETY MARINA ALTA PRESENTS:
Wednesday, 5 March: Who's Andy Warhol? by Alejandra Carazo
Andy Warhol is remembered as the king of pop art who embraced celebrity and consumerism, becoming an American icon. Yet there is a lesser-known side to him: the shy, gay son of immigrants whose prolific and experimental artistic practice enabled a counterculture that would play a part in transforming modern art.
Wednesday, 2 April: L.S. Lowry: A Visionary Artist by Michael Howard
L.S. Lowry is one of Britain’s most famous artists and yet our very familiarity with his work has stopped us looking as closely as we should at this extraordinary artist. Though famous for painting the mills and factories of the industrial north-west of
After a busy and successful February the European Union of Women Marina Alta (EUWMA) won't sit still and rest! Their Annual Meeting elected officers and committee, then they visited the inspiring Natasha at Cultura Contra Balas https://www.instagram.com/culturacontrabalas, attended meetings of the equality groups in three municipalities and, finally, walked in the XVII Cursa Dona Jávea!

England, he was really a painter of the human condition. Our lecturer suggests that Lowry's work is the visual counterpoint of T. S. Eliot’s poetry and he can be claimed as the British Van Gogh. Decide for yourself!

If happiness had a prescription, it would read: "Take one long walk in nature daily and repeat indefinitely. No nasty side effects, except maybe some weight loss!"
Walking boosts endorphins, reduces stress, and gives you a great excuse to step outside when you need a break - from work, from screens, from housework or an annoying other half!
1. Walking: The Secret Happiness Hack
Have I mentioned this before? Walking is the simplest, cheapest, and most effective way to clear your mind. Just put on your sneakers, step outside, and let nature do its thing. Let me know if it helps.
2. Nature: The Ultimate Mood Booster
Research proves that spending time in green spaces reduces anxiety, boosts creativity, and makes you 100% less likely to scream at irritating teenagers (okay, maybe I made up that bit, but it works for me!) Whether it's a forest, beach, or just a local park, nature can reset your brain. Amazing right!
3. Mindful Walking: Because Multitasking is Overrated
Instead of mentally drafting an email while walking, try focusing on your surroundings. Listen to the birds, feel the ground beneath your feet, and smell the fresh air. This mindfulness trick helps you stay present and soak in all the goodness around you. I even dare you to put the phone on airplane mode.
5. Bring a Walking Buddy (or Not)
Some people love company, others prefer solo strolls to escape the world. Either way, walking with a friend or a group boosts social connection, but walking alone can be the best "me time" therapy session you'll ever have. Why not try both!
Final Thought:
If life feels overwhelming, just walk it off—literally. Nature, walking and a little quiet time are the ultimate trifecta for a positive life. And if all else fails, just remember, even a short walk is better than no walk. Unless it's to the fridge!
Please drop me a WhatsApp if you'd like to join my Walk Your Way Well Community. +34 676 507 791. There's a walk with your name written all over it.
This March, Cancer Care Jávea is launching the Men's Health Challenge—a transformative journey for 10 men committed to improving their well-being. From the young to the seasoned, each participant has set a personal goal that pushes them beyond their comfort zone. Whether it's fitness, nutrition, time management, or quitting smoking, every challenge is a step toward lasting change. We know that men often put their health on the back burner. At Cancer Care Jávea, we want to change that. It's time to break the stereotype that men ignore their well-being. Health matters, and these 10 men are proving that prioritising it is a strength, not an afterthought.
Guiding them is Coach Andy Delderfield, a qualified positive psychology coach who knows firsthand what it takes to transform health. Once a meat-eating, middle-lane drinker, Andy is now a clean-living ultra-marathon runner. While we don't expect our 10 men to run a marathon, we do hope they embrace self-care, value their health, and recognise their own worth.
If you're a man - or if you have an important man in your life - follow their journey. Feel inspired. And if you're moved to support them, consider donating to their cause. Every euro raised helps fund Cancer Care Jávea's mission in our local community.
Good luck, guys - we're rooting for you!

Every year, the coastal town of Cabo Roig, located on Spain’s Costa Blanca, hosts one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day parades in Europe outside of Ireland. This vibrant event attracts thousands of locals and tourists, turning the streets into a sea of green in celebration of Ireland’s patron saint.

After the terrible floods in Valencia that affected thousands of families in more than 50 villages, a group of volunteers from around Denia area started collecting donated furniture and white goods to take directly to the affected families who lost everything. Due to the overwhelming need the volunteers have been working everyday collecting the donated furniture locally and organising transport to Valencia. Over the past 3 months they have helped over 100 families and on average send 3 vans/ lorries each week. ADMA Ayuda Direct Marina Alta is the name that was chosen for the group and they have been working in collaboration with other organisations such as HELP, who have donated new electrical appliances and gas heaters that have been delivered directly to the families.
The situation in Valencia is still desperate so if you have time to volunteer, have a van for collections/ deliveries, furniture and electrical goods to donate (please make sure that they are clean and in working order), or would like to help with the running costs of the storage facility in El Vergel and the transport cost, please contact 662 578 671 or visit our Facebook page 'Ayuda Directa Marina Alta ADMA'. Items needed: Fridge freezers, washing machines, Kitchen appliances, wardrobes, drawers, sofas, dining tables and chairs.

Aries: The Eclipse season commences with a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in the sixth house. Testing relationships and bringing to light a time to reset, revise and revalue is guiding you towards the body positive and your health and fitness.
Taurus: The Mercury retrograde begins a process which allows you to soul search, looking within and allowing you to let go and explore. The hidden is revealed and the healing you need starts you thinking there is more to life than you thought!
Gemini: Fiery Aries in the eleventh house sees you taking a stand; and not before time. Your long term goals are guiding you towards just where you really want to be, which is not where you are. Change dreams into realities now.
Cancer: The Sun moves from Pisces into Aries, and there are positive aspects of long distance travel on the horizon. You are generous with others but can be so mean with yourself. Make dreams and aspirations work for you right now!
Leo: The Venus and Mercury retrogrades are a major motivation into exploring new aspects of exploration; which lead to new life experiences. An offer that sounds too good to be true maybe isn’t what it’s cracked up to be.
Virgo: Venus in retrograde in the seventh house of relationships brings desire, and, clearly, love is on the cards. Bold actions will prevail as you are confronted by Scorpio, ruled by Pluto, and ready and unafraid with whatever comes next.
Libra: Someone has been economic with the truth and it’s time to tell it like it is. You’ll get all the help you need and Mercury, though approaching retrograde, will see that the truth is told and you are able to make all this work for the best.
Scorpio: The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries begs you to get advice on financial matters. Money needs to work for you. Time to investigate all aspects of economy since someone just isn’t paying their way, and that’s not right.
Sagittarius: This is a powerful month but a time to reflect on reset and re-evaluation. Reorganisation reverbs around Virgo and the fourth house of domestic issues. Focus is on the family and beautifying the home that you love.
Capricorn: Nobody who really loves you would treat you this way. Enough! Aries in the eleventh house strongly guides you through long term intentions that begin with the changes you are longing to bring on, but are afraid to implement.
Aquarius: You are rarely so impulsive, but go with the flow this month; because it is high time that you thought of yourself. The Lunar Eclipse links you to the first house of self and all aspects point to your strength and new freedom.
Pisces: The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is testing and it is not your fault that someone has recently moved the goalposts. Take control and make it known that, above all, you are not to be messed with, not now and not ever.

Last month 22 Calpe U3A members enjoyed an evening at Benidorm Palace, some had never been before and some over 15 years ago. We were treated to a really excellent show full of wonderful singing, dancing, an illusionist and more. The show was preceded with a jazz performance and the interval had members of the audience dancing to another band. We arrived back in Calpe very late so the bus stopped numerous times so our members didn’t have to walk far.
Later in the month the Group Leaders from U3A Calpe held their annual lunch at Gran Sol hotel where 18 members sat down to a delicious lunch after hearing from the President discussing important matters relating to their leadership. It was a noisy event with lots of exchanges of information and laughter. It gave group leaders an opportunity to exchange ideas with the committee members. Information of all our events can be found on the website www.u3acalpe.org.

At the end of last year the Montgó Chorale Choir was delighted to give their now traditional celebration of Christmas in the Loreto Church (also known as the Fisherman's Church).
As in other years, a collection was taken for Cáritas, the church’s charity that does such important and worthwhile work supporting local families in need. Thanks to a large, responsive and very generous audience a donation of 1150€ could be made to Caritas!
Members of the choir Steering Group, Sarah Tree, Peter Lobb, Choir Director Aileen Lightfoot and Tim Fawle met with Cáritas organisers Elly Van de Wel and Marcela Fitzgerald outside the church to present the cheque. Photo: Linda Ferguson.
A date for diaries!... Montgó Chorale will be presenting their spring concert at two venues in May this year, firstly at the Casa de Cultura in Denia on May 9th and then at the Loreto Church on May 24th. Further details will be announced nearer the time.

The Calpe and Benissa Lions were delighted to invite their shop volunteers to a delicious lunch at Antica Roma in Calpe. They thanked the group for all their hard work during 2024. Through theirs and the Lions members efforts, the shop made over 30,000€ last year. Of the 30,000€, just under 26,000€ was donated to charity. These donations include 3 that help local families in need, 4,466€ to Caritas Calpe, 3,600€ to Caritas Benissa, and 4,000€ to Caritas Calpe. The 52 disabled children in the Gargasindi College received from Father Christmas gifts, worth a total of 1,500€, and a bouncy castle entertained them during their Christmas Party organised by our Lions. So far we have sent 4,500€ for the Valencian relief fund. We are now helping students in the Benissa Insitute, buying equipment and musical instruments. We are in the process of organising our main event of the year, the Calpe and Benissa Lions Fashion Show, which will take place on the 6th of June in El Toro restaurant. Every day in the shop at Carrer Pintor Sorolla, 15, Calpe, you will find at least one Calpe Benissa Lion working alongside the volunteers. A warm welcome always awaits you. All donations are gratefully accepted. We are always looking for more volunteers and members. For more information please call Carole on 639 637 520, or email calcalpe@gmail.com.
What do artists and artisans do during the winter months, when there are few fairs where they can sell their work? They spend the time in their workshops, making new designs and preparing stock for spring and summer. And on Sunday mornings they can go to the boulevard in the Port of Jávea to enjoy the sea, the views, the atmosphere and, with a little luck, sell their work. If you think that all the fairs held on the sea side promenades are the same, you have not been to the one in the Port of Jávea. There the craft association AMATA carefully selects the participantsand you can see the difference! Everything on offer is handmade by the same artists and artisans who serve you. They use natural or recycled materials, hand tools or a simple machine and, of course, they can make things to order - in a different colour, with a name or a special size.
Every Sunday from 11am until 3pm or even later between 10 and 15 artisans are there (the location is indicated on Google Maps: put "Feria de Artesanía Jávea" in the search engine), each one offering something different so that there is maximum variety when you are looking for something original. Any change in the opening times (for example due to bad weather) will be published on Facebook: fairartesaniajavea and at https://www.puebloartesano.es/javea where you can see photos of the types of stalls expected.
