nergy Efficiency and Made in Italy: a successful matching for catching opportunities in age of energy transition?

Italy holds a top position among manufacturers of high energy efficiency of EU. Our production sector has great capacities, offers technically vanguard and economic competitive solutions in this branch by assuring high performance standards, quality and reliability acknowledged worldwide.

Energy efficiency represents the key instrument for contributing to limit climate changes and foster reduction of greenhouse gas emissions but it is also one of the major global economic relaunch opportunities, able to result in huge investments. Concerning this, it is a unique opportunity, above all for our SMEs. Energy efficiency and ICE Agency: how to create value for SMEs on international markets?

It is clear how consolidating and making competences and Made in Italy solutions being appreciated on international markets is of essential value in the present moment by considering not only potential dividends for our SMEs and the effective and recognized excellences they are able to express, but above all the technological renewal which the underway energy transition imposes on institutions, companies and citizens worldwide in order to implement innovations and technologies for a more rational and sustainable use of resources.

As both past activities and the forthcoming planned for next biennium prove, Italian technologies of the whole greentech supply chain and high energy efficiency technologies – from technologies, products and plants for summer and winter conditioning and production of hot sanitary water, to production of pumps, taps, valves and components – may count on the active support of ICE Agency based on a cooperation with Institutional /association players involved in carrying out promotional activity by activating and fostering synergies aimed at creating value and real opportunities for participating companies.

Which are main activities already effected and planned?

On the occasion of MCE Mostra Convegno Expocomfort 2018 did we coordinate an important incoming of buyers from the top potential markets for our supply chain, who were involved in a full agenda of b2b meetings with exhibiting companies in a dedicated area of fair headquarters. The purpose is enriching experience and opportunities for Italian exhibiting companies beyond meeting with requirements and expectations of foreign buyers, which engagement will be confirmed and strengthened also in the next edition of MCE Expocomfort in March 2020. Still in 2018 did we support the Italian

L’Italia occupa una posizione di vertice tra i produttori di tecnologie ad alta efficienza energetica dell’UE. Il nostro tessuto produttivo esprime grandi capacità, offrendo soluzioni tecnicamente all’avanguardia ed economicamente competitive in questo comparto garantendo elevati standard di performance, qualità ed affidabilità riconosciute in tutto il mondo.

L’efficienza energetica rappresenta lo strumento chiave per contribuire a limitare i cambiamenti climatici e favorire la riduzione delle emissioni di gas serra ma è anche una delle più grandi opportunità di rilancio economico a livello globale capace di generare enormi investimenti. In questo senso si tratta di un’occasione assolutamente da non perdere, soprattutto per le nostre PMI. Efficienza Energetica e ICE-Agenzia: come creare valore per le PMI sui mercati internazionali?

Roberto Luongo participation in the International Lebanon Energy Forum–IBEF (Beirut) where we promoted presence, visibility and opportunities for Italian participating companies, so managing to foresee a presentation eccellenze che sono capaci di esprimere, ma soprattutto il rinnovamento tecnologico che la transizione energetica in atto impone ad istituzioni, imprese e cittadini nel mondo per l’implementazione di innovazioni e tecnologie per un uso più razionale e sostenibile delle risorse. Come dimostrano le attività realizzate negli ultimi anni e quelle in calendario nel prossimo biennio, le tecnologie italiane dell’intera filiera delle Green tech e delle tecnologie ad Alta Efficienza Energetica – dalle tecnologie, prodotti e impianti per la climatizzazione estiva e invernale e produzione di acqua calda sanitaria, alla produzione di pompe, rubinetti, valvole e componentistica - possono contare sul supporto attivo dell’ICE-Agenzia basato su un metodo condiviso con gli attori istituzionali/associativi coinvolti nella realizzazione dell’attività promozionale attivando e valorizzando le dovute sinergie con il fine ultimo di creare valore ed opportunità concrete per le aziende partecipanti.

Quali sono le principali attività realizzate e quelle in programma?

In occasione di MCE - Mostra Convegno Expocomfort 2018 abbiamo coordinato un’importante azione di incoming di buyers provenienti dai mercati a più alto potenziale per la nostra filiera che sono stati impegnati in una fitta agenda di incontri B2B con le aziende espositrici all’interno di un’area dedicata del quartiere espositivo.

L’obiettivo è arricchire l’esperienza e le opportunità per le aziende italiane espositrici oltre che andare in contro alle esigenze e alle aspettative dei buyers stranieri e l’impegno verrà confermato e potenziato anche in occasione della prossima edizione della Mostra Convegno Expocomfort nel marzo 2020.

session in Forum official works in cooperation with ANIMA and preparing for each one a tailor-made full agenda of B2B meetings with local delegates. Also in this case it is confirmed the participation at next edition of the Beirut Forum of September 2019, aimed at furtherly enlarging participation and impact of Italian presence.

Beyond the method we assume as essential to foster a conscious approach to markets and for this reason we have scheduled for next biennium the development of a shared format with ANIMA which foresees a path starting from focused sectorial studies for appraising real opportunities of both integration and cooperation for our companies in target markets. The study will be shown in Italy for the trade companies and at last Technology Days dedicated to Made in Italy Comfort will be organized.

During next biennium the above format will be tested firstly with Russia, China, Argentina and Chile.

Useless to underline that in all our iniziatives it is essential, beyond competent offices of the headquarters – the network of ITA agencies abroad, which is constantly committed in realizing tailor-made services for fostering start up and consolidation of company activities on international markets along the whole export life-cycle of export: orientation, access, consolidation of the market.

Sempre nel 2018 abbiamo supportato la partecipazione italiana all’International Lebanon Energy Forum - IBEF di Beirut dove abbiamo favorito la presenza, la visibilità e le opportunità per le aziende italiane partecipanti riuscendo a prevedere una sessione di presentazione nei lavori ufficiali del Forum in collaborazione con ANIMA e predisponendo per ognuna una fitta agenda di incontri B2B personalizzata con i delegati locali. Anche in questo caso è già confermata la partecipazione alla prossima edizione del Forum in programma a Beirut a settembre 2019 con l’obiettivo di allargare ulteriormente la partecipazione e l’impatto della presenza italiana.

Oltre al metodo riteniamo fondamentale favorire un approccio consapevole ai mercati e per questo motivo nel prossimo biennio abbiamo in programma lo sviluppo di un format condiviso con ANIMA che prevede un percorso che parte dalla realizzazione di studi settoriali mirati per valutare le reali opportunità di inserimento e collaborazione per le nostre imprese nei mercati obiettivo. Lo studio sarà oggetto di presentazioni in Italia a favore delle aziende del settore ed infine si prevede la realizzazione di Technology Days dedicati al Comfort “Made in Italy”. Nel corso del prossimo biennio questo format sarà sperimentato innanzitutto con la Federazione Russa, con la Cina e con Argentina e Cile.

Inutile sottolineare come in tutte le fasi ed in tutte le nostre iniziative sia fondamentale - oltre agli Uffici settoriali competenti della Sede - la rete degli Uffici ICE all’estero, che è costantemente impegnata anche nella realizzazione di servizi personalizzati per favorire l’avvio ed il consolidamento delle attività delle aziende sui mercati internazionali lungo l’intero ciclo di vita dell’export: orientamento, accesso, consolidamento nel mercato.

NZEB and other innovations in energetic project of buildings Interview to President of AiCARR, Francesca Romana D’Ambrosio

M

rs. d’Ambrosio, which are innovations related to the application of Directive 844/2018 and how do you want to develop the above issues within supply chain?

DI would like to start from NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Buildings), already foreseen by EPBD (Energy Performance Building Directive) 2010 recast, now effective from 1 January 2019. Since then all buildings owned or used by Public Administration should comply with requirements of Ministerial Decree 26/6/2015 and Law Decree 28/2011. On NZEB did we hold roadshow workshops in the major Italian towns last year, which have added to the issue on BIM and on ErP (Energy Related Products) and FGas. To the above issue did also companies of AiCARR’ s Industrial Committee cooperate, among major ones in energy efficiency branch and always supporting us in all our initiatives. NZEB are also objective of a vademecum synthesizing the viewpoint of AiCARR on this matter and representing valid support for designers. As for content of Law Decree 28/2011, AiCARR – always in support to designers - continues to carry out with ANIMA federated Assotermica and Assoclima a key role in defining rules on both FER shares and calculation of productions from renewable sources as for cooling mode, another issue requiring indeed clarity both at national and international level.

Another item considered by Directive 844/2011 is quality of internal environment, workhorse of AiCARR for many years: it was established at last that attention to occupants’ comfort is essential in designing phase and great care should be given to quality of indoor air, not only matter of comfort but of health too. Concerning this, I would like to remember that AiCARR, along with its Indian counterpart ISHRAE, was admitted to be part 4

Gli NZEB e le altre novità nel progetto energetico degli edifici Intervista a Francesca Romana D’Ambrosio, Presidente Aicarr Professoressa d’Ambrosio, quali sono le novità legate all’applicazione della Direttiva 844/2018 e come intendete sviluppare queste tematiche all’interno della filiera?

Direi di partire dagli NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Buildings), già previsti dalla EPBD recast del 2010, che sono una realtà dall’1 gennaio, data a partire dalla quale tutti i nuovi edifici di proprietà della P.A. o da questa utilizzati devono rispettare i requisiti previsti dal D.M. 26 giugno 2015 e dal D.Lgs. 28/2011.

Su questo tema lo scorso anno abbiamo tenuto una serie di seminari itineranti nelle principali città italiane, che si sono affiancati a quello sul BIM e a quello sugli ErP e FGas, al quale hanno collaborato attivamente anche le Aziende della Consulta Industriale di AiCARR, tra le più importanti nel settore dell’efficienza energetica, che sono sempre al nostro fianco in tutte le nostre iniziative.

Gli NZEB sono anche oggetto di un Vademecum, che è una sintesi del punto di vista di AiCARR su questo argomento, e che in tal senso rappresenta un valido supporto per i progettisti. Per quanto riguarda il tema del D.Lgs. 28/2011, sempre come attività di supporto ai progettisti, AiCARR, in collaborazione con Assotermica e Assoclima, Associazioni di ANIMA, continua a svolgere un importante ruolo nella definizione delle regole sulle quote FER e sul calcolo della produzione da fonte rinnovabile in regime di raffrescamento, altro argomento che richiede chiarezza a livello sia nazionale sia internazionale.

Un altro soggetto considerato dalla Direttiva 844/2011 è quello della qualità dell’ambiente interno, cavallo di battaglia di AiCARR da molti anni: finalmente è stato sancito che il comfort degli occupanti è centrale nella progettazione e che grande attenzione va rivolta alla qualità dell’aria interna, che è una questione

Francesca Romana D’Ambrosio non solo di comfort, ma di salute. A questo proposito, mi piace ricordare che AiCARR, con la gemella indiana ISHRAE, è stata ammessa a far parte della IEQ Global Alliance i cui soci fondatori sono ASHRAE, REHVA e altre Associazioni di rilevanza internazionale.

La Direttiva promuove anche la Building Automation, riguardo alla quale AiCARR e ANIE CSI, associazione confindustriale, stanno lavorando a una Guida che sarà pubblicata nella nostra Collana.

E a proposito di Collana, stanno andando avanti i progetti sul Manuale di Aeraulica, che affiancherà quello di Idronica e tra i cui autori ci sono rappresentanti delle aziende della nostra Consulta Industriale, quello sul Manuale di Acustica negli Impianti, in collaborazione con l’Associazione Italiana di Acustica, che si rifà al tema della IEQ, e quello sull’impiantistica antisismica, di grande attualità in questo momento anche perché espressamente richiamata dalla Direttiva.

Un’altra attività editoriale sulla quale siamo molto impegnati, in collaborazione con il CNI, è la scrittura di un testo di supporto alle istituzioni politiche per la redazione di un Testo Unico sull’efficienza energetica, che faccia giustizia di tutti i documenti legislativi allo stato esistenti e che costituisca un vero riferimento per i progettisti.

Oserei dire che la Direttiva non ci ha trovati impreparati: AiCARR con Assoclima, Assotermica, CNI, CTI e con tutte le Associazioni con cui collabora è da sempre in prima linea su questi argomenti.

Quindi, se dovesse riassumere in poche parole le azioni che AiCARR sta portando avanti?

Lo farei utilizzando le sei parole chiave del mio programma, Collaborazione Condivisione Confronto Costruzione Comunicazione Cultura, che potrebbero essere riunite nella frase “abbiamo costruito cultura attraverso la collaborazione con gli altri diversi da AiCARR, con i quali ci siamo confrontati per giungere a risultati condivisi attraverso una comunicazione non sempre facile”.

The above directive promotes as well Building Automation, regarding which both AiCARR and ANIE CSI within Confindustria are working to a guide that will be published in a series of ours. Concerning this, the following projects are presently underway: Auraulics Handbook, which will flank that of hydronics and to which many representatives of companies of our Industrial Committee have cooperated as authors, Acoustics Handbook in Plants – in cooperation with the Italian Association of Acoustics - which refers to the issue of IEQ, and the handbook on Anti-seismic Engineering, presently of great relevance as expressly referred to by the above Directive. Another editorial activity in which we are very involved, in cooperation with CNI (National Council of Engineers) is the drafting of a support test to political institutions for drawing up a Single Test on energy efficiency, including all available legislative documents and representing a real reference for designers. The Directive indeed has not found us unprepared: AiCARR has always been on the front-line on these matters together with Assoclima, Assotermica CNI, CTI and all the cooperating Associations.

Thus, how you could resume in few words the actions presently carried out by AiCARR? I would like to use the six key words of my programme: Cooperation, Sharing, Comparison, Communication, Culture, which could be unified in the following proposition “We have built culture through cooperation with others different from AiCARR, with whom we have faced so to get to shared results through not always easy communication”.

State of the art of European comfort standards Interview to Alessandro Maggioni

I

n matter of European standards for comfort we turn to Alessandro Maggioni, Director of ANIMA Confindustria Technical Area and expert of the European political institutional outlook.

Mr. Maggioni, can you briefly describe the European objectives for 2030 in energy and environment branch?

The frame of objectives and means of new energy environment EU politics for 2030, the so called “Clean Energy Package”, is already taking shape in its main references. The three new goals 2030 has been so defined: 40% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions compared to 1990 emissions, 32% growth of renewable sources of gross energy final consumptions; 32,5% reduction of primary energy consumptions compared to 2008 reference outlook, as target for energy efficiency.

Goals have been interpreted on five aspects of energy and environment politics, referred to by Strategy Energy and Climate of European Commission, that is: Decarbonization, greenhouse effect gas and renewables development – Energy efficiency – Energy safety – Energy internal market – Research innovation and competitiveness. Within the above strategic scenario, at the end 2018 the updating of European regulatory frame for energy efficiency and renewable energies has been completed through the publication of following Directives: 2018/844/UE Directive, 2018/2001/UE Directive, 2018/2002/UE Directive.

In view of the above European targets, which role does ANIMA play?

ANIMA Confindustria Meccanica Varia sets as the “house of comfort technologies”, since it groups all associations whose manufacturers produce equipment and plants for heating, air conditioning and hot sanitary water, able to match “energy efficiency and use of thermal renewable energies”, all sectors which play an acknowledged role 6

of excellence in the Italian and European industrial outlook.

The challenge that our comfort industry presently faces is contributing to attaining goals of European energy and environment politics (in short competitiveness, decarbonization, safety): it is a path requiring an important effort by all in terms of technological development in order to keep up with the underway legislative outlook.

•D irective 2018/844/UE on energy performances of buildings. The Directive focuses on renovation branch and asks member-states to establish ad hoc strategies; the above target requires that industry get proactive in showing solutions not only for challenges typical of new building but also and especially for restructuring of existing buildings.

• Directive 2018/2001/UE on renewables. The new directive introduces a specific growth target for heating and cooling branch: share of renewable energy in heating and cooling indeed should be increased by 1.3 percentage points every year (presently growth is around 1 percentage point every year). Given that, at the end 2016, the share was 19.06% with an average annual growth of 0.7 percentage points, actually annual growth is expected to double.

• Directive 2018/2002/UE on energy efficiency.

The directive introduces indicative target of 32.5%,actually a suggestion to considering “energy efficiency first”, even though being the target only indicative let doubt on real ambition level. To point out in new directive the introduction of a new primary energy factor of 2.1. The above factor will be applied to the whole legislation related to products and is liable to be revised every 4 years.

La situazione normativa europea sul comfort Intervista a Alessandro Maggioni In materia di normative europee per il settore del comfort ci rivolgiamo ad Alessandro Maggioni, Direttore dell’Area Tecnica di ANIMA Confindustria, nonché esperto del panorama politico-istituzionale europeo.

• Direttiva 2018/844/UE sulle prestazioni energetiche degli edifici. La direttiva pone l’accento sul settore della ristrutturazione e chiede agli Stati membri di istituire apposite strategie; questo obiettivo richiede che l’industria diventi propositiva nel presentare soluzioni non solo per le sfide tipiche nelle nuove costruzioni ma anche e soprattutto nelle ristrutturazioni dell’esistente.

• La Direttiva 2018/2001/UE sulle energie rinnovabili.

La nuova direttiva introduce un target di crescita specifico per il settore del riscaldamento e del raffreddamento: la quota di energia rinnovabile in riscaldamento e raffreddamento deve essere aumentata di 1,3 punti percentuali ogni anno (attualmente la crescita è di circa 1 punto percentuale ogni anno).

Considerando che, alla fine del 2016, la quota era al 19,06% con una crescita media annua di 0,7 punti percentuali, in pratica la crescita annuale deve raddoppiare • La Direttiva 2018/2002/UE sull’efficienza energetica.

La direttiva introduce l’obiettivo indicativo del 32,5%, in pratica un invito a considerare “prima l’efficienza energetica”, anche se il fatto che l’obiettivo sia solo indicativo lascia un certo dubbio sul reale livello di ambizione. Da segnalare nella nuova direttiva l’introduzione di un nuovo fattore di energia primaria di 2,1.

Questo fattore sarà applicato a tutta la legislazione relativa al prodotto ed è soggetto a revisione ogni 4 anni.

Ingegnere, ci può illustrare brevemente gli obiettivi europei per il 2030 in ambito energetico e ambientale?

Il quadro degli obiettivi e degli strumenti delle nuove politiche energetiche ambientali UE per il 2030, il cosiddetto “Clean Energy Package”, sta ormai prendendo forma nei suoi riferimenti principali.

La triade dei nuovi obiettivi 2030 è stata così definita: riduzione del 40% delle emissioni di gas serra rispetto alle emissioni del 1990; 32% di penetrazione delle fonti rinnovabili nei consumi finali lordi di energia; riduzione del 32,5% dei consumi di energia primaria rispetto allo scenario di riferimento del 2008, come obiettivo per l’efficienza energetica.

Gli obiettivi sono stati declinati sulla base delle cinque dimensioni di politica energetica e ambientale richiamate dalla strategia Energia e Clima della Commissione europea, ossia: Decarbonizzazione, gas effetto serra e sviluppo rinnovabili - Efficienza energetica - Sicurezza energetica - Mercato interno dell’energia - Ricerca innovazione e competitività.

Nell’ambito di questo scenario strategico, a fine 2018 si è completato l’aggiornamento del quadro regolatorio europeo per l’efficienza energetica e le rinnovabili, con la pubblicazione delle direttive: Direttiva 2018/844/UE, Direttiva 2018/2001/UE, Direttiva 2018/2002/UE. In considerazione di questi obiettivi europei, che ruolo svolge ANIMA? ANIMA Confindustria Meccanica Varia si pone come la “casa delle tecnologie per il comfort” perché raggruppa tutte quelle associazioni i cui costruttori producono apparecchi e componenti per gli impianti di riscaldamento, condizionamento e acqua calda in grado di integrare “efficienza energetica e impiego di rinnovabili termiche”, settori che hanno un ruolo riconosciuto di eccellenza nel panorama industriale italiano ed europeo.

La sfida che ora ha davanti la nostra industria del comfort è contribuire al raggiungimento degli obiettivi della politica energetica e ambientale europea (in sintesi competitività, decarbonizzazione, sicurezza): si tratta di un percorso che richiede uno sforzo importante da parte di tutti in termini di evoluzione tecnologica per essere al passo dell’evoluzione legislativa in corso.

go Pettinaroli is CEO of Fratelli Pettinaroli SpA and President AVR, the Association of valves and fitting manufacturers. Moreover is he Chairman of CEIR, the European Committee for Industry of Taps. We thus asked him some questions.

Mr. Pettinaroli, may you explain us shortly the constant success of the Italian industry of valves and fittings?

Italian taps, fittings and valves have always been esteemed and exported to all continents, especially the technologically advanced ones, realized for special projects and requiring use of precious and high quality materials. Experience and financial solidity of companies, operative flexibility and global presence are among the most appreciated by customers and which make Italian products highly competitive, when design and quality are taken in due consideration.

Which are the more important challenges companies will have to face in the next months?

In order to maintain the acquired leadership, companies will have to overcome challenges of both innovation and new Italian and European legislation outlook. As for innovation, I am proud to say that Italian companies are doing a great effort in investments aimed at technological updating of product processes and improvement of products and services supply. As for legislative aspects,

Presidente, ci può spiegare brevemente il continuo successo dell’industria italiana della rubinetteria e valvolame?

La rubinetteria e le valvole italiane sono da sempre apprezzate ed esportate in tutti i continenti, specialmente quelle ad alta tecnologia, realizzate per particolari progetti e che richiedono l’adozione di materiali pregiati e di alta qualità. L’esperienza e la solidità finanziaria delle aziende, la flessibilità operativa e la presenza globale sono alcune tra le caratteristiche più apprezzate dalla clientela e che rendono i prodotti italiani altamente competitivi, quando il design e la qualità sono presi in giusta considerazione.

Quali sono le sfide più importanti che le aziende dovranno affrontare nei prossimi mesi?

Per mantenere la leadership che ci siamo guadagnati, le aziende dovranno vincere le sfide dell’innovazione e del nuovo scenario legislativo nazionale ed europeo.

Riguardo all’ innovazione, sono orgoglioso di poter dire che le aziende italiane stanno facendo un grosso sforzo di investimenti per l’aggiornamento tecnologico dei processi produttivi e per migliorare l’offerta di prodotti e servizi. Per quanto attiene gli

Which role is AVR carrying out?

Intent of AVR in Italy (and of CEIR in Europe) is being still the reference point of legislators in defining market regulation and supporting companies in their own activities more and more by enhancing qualities of our industry. I quote for instance a project we care for very much, the Water Label of sanitary taps, the new European Label which will allow to inform end users on both energy and water savings and on aspects of environment compatibility of acquired taps.

Qual è il ruolo che sta svolgendo AVR? La volontà di AVR in Italia (e del CEIR in Europa) è continuare a essere il punto di riferimento del legislatore nella definizione della regolamentazione del mercato e di supportare sempre di più le aziende nelle proprie attività, valorizzando le qualità della nostra industria. Cito come esempio un progetto che ci sta molto a cuore, il “Water Label” della rubinetteria sanitaria, la nuova etichetta europea che permetterà di informare il consumatore finale sul risparmio energetico e idrico e sulle caratteristiche di compatibilità ambientale dei rubinetti acquistati.

Can you better explain - in a panorama of generalized crisis of Italian and international industry – the reasons for the good health of the branch?

MASTERS OF COMFORT Pump industry in Italy is still thriving, above all thanks to export (over 80%), which greatly contributes to export of Italy system: Italian products are appreciated abroad for high quality and competitive prices. Pump manufacturers in particular distinguish themselves for innovation capacity to which Assopompe and Europump give their essential contribution.

Our companies are solid notwithstanding the worldwide crisis and represent an excellence at which industrial politics of Italy should aim.

Can you say to us why Assopompe and Europump roles are fundamental?

The contribution of both Assopompe and its European counterpart Europump has always been essential for this branch, because they do not only give representation but also play an active role on the side of manufacturers, are present on institutional boards for presenting manufacturers’ requirements, especially in Europe as for defining minimum criteria of energy efficiency.

Can you sintetically describe the activity carried out in these years as for energy efficiency?

Pumps have been among the first analyzed products by European Ecodesign legislation in order to remove from the market less efficient productions and consequently contribute, as a sector, to achieving energy saving targets fixed by Commission.

Water pumps and circulating pumps have been regulated and presently waste water pumps too.

Europump introduced the concept of Extended Product Approach, so convincing legislator to analyzing the whole system pump-engine-control, since through the above approach much more significant energy savings may be obtained.

New regulations which will introduce EEI concept (energy efficiency index) are in advanced stage of discussion and will overcome present MEI index referring to the hydraulic part of the pump alone.

Next step that is the analysis of the whole pumping system (System Approach) may result in energy savings even by 80%.

Ingegner Banfi, ci può meglio spiegare a cosa si può attribuire, in un panorama di crisi generalizzata dell’industria italiana e internazionale, la buona salute del comparto?

L’industria delle pompe prodotte in Italia si mantiene florida, grazie soprattutto all’export (oltre 80%) che contribuisce in modo rilevante alle esportazioni del sistema Italia: i prodotti italiani sono apprezzati all’estero per l’elevata qualità e i prezzi competitivi.

I costruttori di pompe in particolare si distinguono per la loro capacità innovativa e in ciò il contributo di Assopompe e Europump è fondamentale.

Le nostre imprese sono solide, nonostante la crisi a livello mondiale e rappresentano un’eccellenza su cui la politica industriale del nostro Paese deve puntare.

Ci può spiegare perché è fondamentale il ruolo di Assopompe e Europump?

L’apporto dell’associazione Assopompe e della sua omologa europea Europump è sempre stato un elemento fondamentale per questo comparto, perché non si tratta solo di rappresentanza ma di una presenza attiva a fianco dei costruttori, che si fa portavoce sui tavoli istituzionali per far valere le loro istanze, in particolare in sede europea per la definizione dei criteri minimi di efficienza energetica.

Può sinteticamente illustrarci l’attività svolta in questi anni in materia di efficienza energetica?

Le pompe sono state tra i primi prodotti analizzati dalla legislazione Ecodesign europea al fine di eliminare dal mercato le gamme meno efficienti e di riflesso contribuire, come settore, al raggiungimento degli obiettivi di risparmio energetico fissati dalla Commissione.

Sono state regolamentate le pompe per acqua e le pompe di circolazione e si sta ora lavorando anche sulle pompe per acque reflue.

Europump ha saputo introdurre il concetto di Extended Product Approach, convincendo il legislatore ad analizzare l’intero sistema pompa-motore-controllo, poiché con questo tipo di approccio si possono ottenere risparmi energetici molto più significativi.

I nuovi regolamenti che introdurranno il concetto di EEI (enegy efficiency index) sono in fase avanzata di discussione e supereranno l’attuale indice MEI che si riferisce alla sola parte idraulica della pompa.

Lo step successivo, ovvero l’analisi dell’intero sistema di pompaggio (System Approach), può portare risparmi energetici anche dell’80%.

Reliability and excellence of Italian air-conditioning Roberto Saccone

oberto Saccone is both President of Olimpia Splendid - leading company in air-conditioning and comfort - and President of Assoclima, the Italian Association of manufacturers of conditioning systems, which has been including for over 50 years both major Italian marks in conditioning sector and large multinational groups, for a total of 61 member-companies, more than 7,200 units and a total production of beyond 1,645 Million euro.

Mr. Saccone, how is considered Italian industry of air-conditioning?

In air-conditioning sector, especially hydronic systems, Italian industry is more and more appreciated in all markets, both European and extra-European ones owing to high quality level, reliability and technical excellence of products. The above factors, even in hard competition with smaller companies, allow Italian Industry a good export share (64%), so balancing difficulties of Italian market.

Which is in your opinion the most dynamic sector of air-conditioning?

A key role is more and more played by heat pumps, which are widely represented within Assoclima.

Heat pump sector boasts a local highly skilled and capable industry which, adequately promoted and enhanced, grants positive effects as for investments and new jobs.

Ingegner Saccone, come viene valutata l’industria italiana della climatizzazione?

Nel campo della climatizzazione, in particolare dei sistemi idronici, l’industria italiana continua a essere molto apprezzata in tutti i mercati, sia europei che extraeuropei, per l’elevato livello qualitativo, l’affidabilità e l’eccellenza tecnologica dei prodotti. Questi fattori, pur nella strenua competizione con industrie minori, consentono all’industria italiana di mantenere un buon livello di esportazione, intorno al 64%, compensando così le difficoltà del mercato nazionale.

Qual è a suo avviso il settore più dinamico del mondo della climatizzazione?

Un ruolo fondamentale viene svolto sempre di più dalle pompe di calore, apparecchiature ampiamente rappresentate in ambito Assoclima. Quello delle pompe di calore è un settore in cui è presente un’industria locale molto preparata e capace che, se adeguatamente incentivata e valorizzata, garantisce ricadute positive in

The Association has been setting out several objectives in the years, most of them successfully achieved, so contributing to enhancing air-conditioning branch.

Assoclima does not only constantly cooperate with the whole supply chain, but actively participates in the activity of many European committees and associations, such as Eurovent, Epee and Ehpa.

The above result is only a step for a company operating in a constant development, pushed also through new standards and particularly defiant targets of energy and environmental sustainability.

Mr. Montanini, how are the new scenarios faced with within Assotermica, the association representing equipment and components for thermal systems and hydro-sanitary plants, of which you are President?

Energy transition is underway and decarbonization an unavoidable goal; our sector can contribute in an essential way by increasing technologies for energy efficiency and of renewables.

In this way we match the concept that there is not a unique solution for any situations, given complexity of the branch in which we operate, but what may be the winning solution is a systemic approach and of integrated planning building-plant.

Even though some technologies are better, we maintain that different ongoing strategic plans have well detected the above suggestions and next step is now to turn them into actual and uniform measures within the European Union.

Are Assotermica members ready?

Luckily is our country the second market in Europe as for production and sold volumes.

Companies have ever been investing in research and development and technologies as condensing boilers, heat pumps, hybrid systems and much others are available already for some time.

Which is the role of Assotermica?

It is going on the way undertaken by becoming more and more a reference point for the legislators, particularly now that we are in a delicate step of European and Italian law updatings.

Peculiarity of the Association is also developing “pilot” projects in different areas of interest; recently have we won a European tender of funding Horizon 2020 for a triennial activity of raising awareness of end users which may lead them to replace their old boilers.

Intention is indeed speeding requalifying installed park, so resulting in certain benefits for collectivity.

The work to be carried out is challenging, but we are proud and are looking forward to begin.

Questo risultato è solo un passaggio per un’impresa che opera in un settore in continua evoluzione, trainato anche dalle nuove normative e da obiettivi particolarmente sfidanti di sostenibilità energetica e ambientale.

Ingegner Montanini, come si affrontano questi nuovi scenari in Assotermica, l’associazione che rappresenta i costruttori di apparecchi e componenti per impianti termici e per impianti idrico-sanitari, di cui Lei è Presidente?

La transizione energetica è in corso e la decarbonizzazione è un obiettivo imprescindibile; il nostro settore può contribuire in maniera fondamentale a tutto ciò con una crescita delle tecnologie per l’efficienza energetica e delle rinnovabili.

In tal senso sposiamo il concetto che non vi sia un’unica soluzione valida in tutte le situazioni, vista la complessità del comparto nel quale operiamo, ma ciò che può risultare vincente è un approccio sistemico e di progettazione integrata tra edificio e impianto. Pur individuando delle tecnologie più meritevoli di altre, riteniamo che i vari Piani strategici attualmente in elaborazione abbiano ben colto questi stimoli e il passo successivo, ora, è quello di tradurli in provvedimenti concreti e omogenei all’interno dell’Unione Europea.

Le aziende associate ad Assotermica sono pronte?

Fortunatamente il nostro Paese è il secondo mercato in Europa per produzione e volumi venduti. Le aziende investono da sempre in ricerca e sviluppo e, già da tempo, sono disponibili tecnologie quali le caldaie a condensazione, le pompe di calore, i sistemi ibridi e molto altro.

Uno dei nostri punti di forza è anche la capacità di offrire un servizio completo, che punti molto quindi sulla fase di assistenza post-vendita e su quella di consulenza prevendita e che si adoperi per formare continuamente la propria rete. Ciò viene apprezzato anche all’estero perché il livello di esportazione dell’industria manifatturiera di settore è ampiamente superiore al 50%.

Qual è il ruolo di Assotermica?

E’ quello di continuare sulla strada intrapresa diventando sempre più un punto di riferimento per il legislatore, a maggior ragione adesso che siamo in una delicata fase di aggiornamenti legislativi europei e nazionali.

Una peculiarità dell’associazione è anche quella di sviluppare progetti “pilota” in diverse aree d’interesse; recentemente abbiamo vinto un bando europeo di finanziamenti Horizon 2020 per un’attività triennale di sensibilizzazione dell’utente finale che lo induca a sostituire la propria vecchia caldaia.

La volontà, infatti, è quella di accelerare la riqualificazione del parco installato, con indubbi benefici per la collettività. Il lavoro che ci attende è impegnativo, ma ne siamo orgogliosi e non vediamo l’ora di iniziare.

Water treatment in comfort branch Lauro Prati

M

r. Prati, can you explain the importance of water treatment for heating and efficient air-conditioning of tertiary and civil buildings?.

It has become a legal obligation in addition to need, which testifies the importance of water treatment for civil usage. It is a need, given that in the last years the whole engineering branch for heating has deeply changed as for kind of plants, condensing boilers and underfloor systems and in materials used.

All high efficient plant solutions which may be affected through the inadequate use. As for hot sanitary water, items are related both to preservation of thermal exchange efficiency through adequate water treatment – as softening – and prevention of legionella, item which is often neglected in the plants.

On the contrary, while speaking of heating we come back to energy efficiency, so softening on one hand but also prevention from muds and corrosions in plants: as a matter of fact limestone and mud are not good conductors and reduce thermal exchange. Only one millimeter of limestone reduces indeed by 7% the efficiency of a heating plant.

Which standards and provisions must designers and installers follow for a right production of hot sanitary water?

Il trattamento acqua nel settore del comfort Ingegner Prati, ci può spiegare l’importanza del trattamento dell’acqua per il riscaldamento e la climatizzazione efficiente degli edifici del terziario e civili?

Oltre che una necessità è diventato anche un obbligo di legge, questo testimonia l’importanza del trattamento acqua in ambito civile.

Una necessità perché negli ultimi anni tutta la parte di impiantistica per il riscaldamento è cambiata profondamente nella tipologia di impianti, caldaie a condensazione e impianti a pavimento e nei materiali utilizzati.

Tutte soluzioni impiantistiche ad alto rendimento che possono però essere inficiate dall’utilizzo di un’acqua non adeguata.

Quando parliamo di acqua calda sanitaria le tematiche sono legate sia al mantenimento dell’efficienza di scambio termico tramite un trattamento acqua adeguato, come può essere l’addolcimento, sia anche alla prevenzione della legionella, tematica spesso trascurata a livello impiantistico.

Parlando invece di riscaldamento torniamo al tema di efficienza energetica, per cui addolcimento da un lato, ma anche prevenzione di formazione di funghi e corrosioni negli impianti: ricordiamoci che calcare e fanghi non sono buoni conduttori e riducono lo scambio termico.

Un solo millimetro di calcare riduce del 7% il rendimento di un impianto di riscaldamento.

MASTERS OF COMFORT Standards are today enough clear on responsibilities of supply chain and water treatment is compulsory in all summer and winter conditioning plants, new or renewable.

Standards related to planning, from DPR. 412/93 to DPR 59/09 till to Ministerial Decree 26/6/15 show necessary treatments for thermal plants in many power bands: over 350kw, between 100 and 350kw under 100kw, and beyond these there are many other technical standards.

As for responsibilities of both installers and maintainers, one should refer to DPR 74/13 and DM 10/02/14 which identify activities related to preservation of appliance booklet.

In addition, we should remember that water treatment is essential in preventing from legionella.

There is an important issue related to the creation of a supply chain: it is necessary to sensitize all players designers, installers and maintainers – on law obligations in order to grant safe and efficient systems to one’s own customers, as a matter of fact water treatment is an obligation but also an opportunity.

For the above purpose, it is important to remember that it is liable to fiscal aids related to energy efficiency.

As association has Aqua Italia always aimed at training, both arranging and participating in thematic events: for instance on the occasion of the last meeting in Genoa we gave ample space to standard section.

What can you say to us regarding best solutions for the use of water for human consumption in commercial and domestic environments?

I can simply say that they are more and more a widespread phenomenon in which Italians increasingly believe: estimates of our two-year survey about the trend to consumption of tap water confirm it.

Today do 74% of Italians usually drink tap water and about 22% have at home a plant of water treatment for improving organoleptic properties.

Carafe is the most widespread product, followed by microfiltration, inverse osmosis and frigo- gasation.

Even in catering sector drinking micro-filtrated water has become an habit, the appreciation of customers for the above service has grown by 6% and structures that propose it are more and more.

Benefits, beyond quality of water supplied, comfort and cheapness are related to great environmental impact on reduction of plastic bottle consumption.

Quali norme e indicazioni i progettisti e gli installatori devono seguire per la corretta produzione di acqua calda sanitaria?

La parte normativa è abbastanza chiara oggi sulle responsabilità della filiera ed il trattamento acqua è obbligatorio in tutti gli impianti di climatizzazione estiva e invernale, che siano nuovi o soggetti a un rinnovo.

Le norme legate alla parte di progettazione, dal DPR 412/93 al DPR 59/09 sino al Decreto Ministeriale del 26/6/15, indicano i trattamenti necessari per gli impianti termici nelle varie fasce di potenza: sopra 350kw, tra 100 e 350kw e sotto i 100kw, oltre a queste ci sono le varie norme tecniche.

Per quanto riguarda invece le responsabilità dell’installatore e del manutentore si fa riferimento al DPR 74/13 e al DM 10/02/14 che va a identificare anche le attività legate al mantenimento del libretto di impianto.

Oltre a questo è necessario ricordare che il trattamento acqua è centrale nella prevenzione della legionella.

Esiste una tematica importante legata alla formazione della filiera: è necessario sensibilizzare tutte le figure, progettista, installatore e manutentore, sugli obblighi di legge per poter garantire ai propri clienti sistemi sicuri ed efficienti, tuttavia il trattamento acqua è un obbligo ma anche una opportunità. A tal scopo è importante ricordare che è oggetto di incentivi fiscali legati all’efficientamento energetico.

Come associazione Aqua Italia ha sempre puntato sulla formazione, organizzando e partecipando ad eventi tematici: ad esempio all’ultima edizione di MCE abbiamo proposto un convegno legato a queste tematiche e anche nel nostro ultimo convegno tenutosi a Genova abbiamo dato ampio spazio alla parte normativa.

Cosa ci può dire riguardo alle soluzioni più idonee per l’uso dell’acqua per il consumo umano negli ambienti commerciali e domestici?

Semplicemente che sono un fenomeno sempre più diffuso e in cui gli italiani credono sempre più: ce lo confermano i dati della nostra ricerca biennale sulla propensione al consumo di acqua del rubinetto.

Oggi il 74% degli Italiani bevono usualmente l’acqua del rubinetto e circa il 22% hanno a casa un impianto di trattamento dell’acqua per migliorarne le caratteristiche organolettiche.

La caraffa è il prodotto più diffuso, seguito da microfiltrazione, osmosi inversa e frigogasazione.

Anche nella ristorazione bere acqua microfiltrata è diventata una abitudine, l’apprezzamento dei clienti per questo servizio è cresciuto di oltre il 6% nell’ultimo biennio e sono sempre di più le strutture che lo propongono.

I vantaggi, oltre alla qualità dell’acqua erogata, alla comodità ed economicità, sono legati all’enorme impatto ambientale sulla riduzione di consumo di bottiglie di plastica.

PI Italia history is the fruit of a long tradition of a family company. The industrial activity of Parigi’s family begins in Milan in 1950, with the production of components for household appliances and for gas units. At the end of the 60s the activity moves to Monza and in 1975 Cesare Parigi patents Parinox, the first hose made of rubber and covered by stainless steel braiding suitable for connection between water network and any kind of taps. This product makes the company very popular and enables it to quickly expand during the following decades. In 2014 NPI Italia became part of the NEOPERL Group, a global company that offers innovative solutions for drinking water components used by the plumbing industry, including water and energy saving products worldwide.

La gamma di prodotti ricopre sia gli standard di comune uso idrosanitario, sia tipologie specifiche dedicate al settore alimentare e al condizionamento (Hvac). Le materie prime, garantite dal marchio Made in Italy, assicurano resistenza tecnica, alta affidabilità e durata. Ogni lotto produttivo è certificato con uno Statement of Conformity che attesta l’origine e le specifiche dei materiali impiegati. I reparti sono dotati di macchinari moderni di alta produttività. M.R.G. è tra le prime realtà in assoluto ad aver conseguito il marchio O.Q.C. dall’ente americano Nsf International, che certificano che l’intero processo manifatturiero avviene presso gli stabilimenti dell’azienda.
